The DEMOCRATS control the agenda. That is what happens when you have 58 senators...

Actually the fight is over when you get your ass kicked in the election such that only 2 Republican Senators can help pass a democrat bill.

You're right. It should take 60 to fully control the agenda but with the RINOs always kissing the Rat's asses the Rats can get by with 58.

This is what comes of watering down our expectations from our candidates. This is what comes from not insisting on our cup of feces free pudding.

We get screwed, but they say please first. :-|

I wouldn’t give Snowe any credit except she didn’t speak for the stimulus bill but that is not saying much. When you have Sen Martinez saying the RATs didn’t negotiate in good faith, then the sky is falling. When he stood up and spoke against the package I almost fainted. I would have bet money he was part of this but then Voinivich pulled out this morning.

What a contrast between Ben Nelson from NE and the new Republican. People of Nebraska need to wake up and see who is looking after their interest. It sure isn’t Nelson.

If I had my way they would kick Collins and Specter out of the Caucus the minute they vote for this bill just for allowing themselves to be used by the RATs. I would rather go with Senators we can rely on even if we didn’t have
the ability to have the filibuster opportunity to stop bills.

The RATs have a filibuster proof Senate now with Collins and Specter if they can get Kennedy back and why the delay until Sunday is my guess. If they had Snowe’s vote, then they wouldn’t need Kennedy’s according to several websites.

Any Republican voting for this travesty needs to have all funds for reelection frozen by the NRSC and RNC. PA needs to run someone in the primary that can beat Specter and win in the general. Still mad that Bush supported him in his last election. I don’t care if the seat goes Dem because those two cannot be counted on right now. Snowe must have been sinking into the ground with every mention of possibly three.

The GOP would have enough if they had just 41 Senators but since a couple are just using the Republican name and are really Rats the GOP is basically impotent.

Might be time for Lynn Swann (R) to step up for the primary

If the GOP had 58 seats, you don’t think they could peal off 2 democrats? Maine is a socialist state. The only republicans that can get elected there would be democrats in any other state. You cannot expect too much from them - they actually held out longer than I ever expected them to.

That would be great if he ran.

I worked for McCain’s election because it was too important. We also reelected Sen Inhofe from OK to the Senate.

Anyone who sat out or voted 3rd party including Senate or House races needs to sit down and shut up about Republicans.

Will keep fighting until we take back seats and then will fight to make sure they stay fiscal conservatives. We need one big litmus test for candidates — are they huge fiscal conservatives.

"The American people want us to work together. They don't want to see us dividing along partisan lines on the most serious crisis confronting our country," said Sen. Susan Collins of Maine

The hell we don't, you stupid bitch. I want you and the other Republicans to resist this socialist stampede with every fiber of your being.

These two lib republicans are marginalized. The GOP is lucky if they get a few votes from them even in good times. They’re from dem states.

Saying they have completely taken over the party is ludicrous hyperbole.

just gave the Rats cover

Oh, good grief. Such panty chewing is silly and embarrassing.

No way in hell this ever gets played as a GOP-supported "stimulus".

Same fringe-elements of the party that effectively handed control of congress over to the Dems even when we had a majority in both houses.

Whether we like it or not, every MSM outlet is still watched and believed by many and they are calling it bipartisan.
History will record this as bipartisan because of two or three RINOs and when it fails the MSM will insulate Obama and blame the “bipartisan” congress.

With these RINOs the GOP has no control. I'm not sure how you can think any other way.

***”You cannot expect too much from them”***

That's right and that's why they might as well be called Democrats.
I'm here in the South with Conservative Senators but because of these RINOs from the Northeast we're always the ones left out in the cold.
My state has a 5% unemployment rate, no state income tax, no tax on groceries, has a surplus, GOP control and I've never had a problem finding a job so why the hell is the ones from states that are crashing the ones running things?

It depends on who votes for it and how strongly it is opposed by those who don’t.

Two votes from one side is not bi-partisan and can’t be spun as bipartisan.

If the world were to end today, the bill is a democrat bill with the GOP “strongly opposed.”

If the bill passes and the economy goes south, Obama owns it.

With these RINOs the GOP has no control.

No control over what? RINOs? No, of course not. No control over the House? Du-uh. No control over the Senate? Barely enough to stop very things or change a few tittles in a bill - as happened here.

That's the numbers. When you're this outnumbered you ain't gonna have much control, the enemy peels a couple off, you're beat. This hasn't been news since November.

Nor does it merit silliness like "Liberal Republicans completely take over party."
