Actress Ashley Judd says a wolf management program backed by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is "incredibly savage ... it's not right, it's not appropriate, it makes no sense on any level."
Appearing on CNN's "Larry King Live," Judd repeated her criticism of a program that allows hunters firing from aircraft to shoot wolves to thin the numbers of the animals.
Judd recently appeared in a video for the Washington-based Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, which also opposes the Palin-backed aerial hunting program. Referring to the former Republican vice presidential candidate by name in the video, Judd says that Palin is "championing the slaughter of wildlife."
"When Sarah Palin came on the national scene last summer, few knew that she promotes the brutal aerial killing of wolves," Judd says in the video, adding, "It is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery."
Palin responded on Tuesday, releasing a statement calling Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund an "extreme fringe group," and saying, "It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money."
Judd said Alaska's program is a "distortion" of wildlife hunting under normal circumstances, and that the program attracts "urban hunters, trophy hunters from out of state."

I can’t imagine mimes having much to say, but damned if they’re not furiously waving their arms and flailing about.
Get em Sarah.............
Right to the point, and non politically correct.
That’s what we need in a true representative of the people.
When their Hollywood careers dry up, they always find a Republican to attack.
From her grasp on the topic she’s chosen to spout about, I can see why she picked such lousy scripts to film.
Be fair. I’m sure Judd is an expert on condom deployment.
Better question? Why rise to the bait?
When leaders get in fights with celebrities they never win in the long run.
Governor Sarah Palin says an unlimited program to abort human babies backed by actress Ashley Judd is “incredibly savage ... it’s not right, it’s not appropriate, it makes no sense on any level.”
Ashley Judd knows nothing about wild animals, wildlife management, or hunting. This is simply another Bash Palin ploy.
Palin Ping.
Just another non informed and non thinking celeb signing on to get her name out there.
I think what she said is very telling. She said that Sarah Palin must be stopped, not the aerial hunting, those words “must be stopped” that is a Democrat liberal way of talking when they fear that they are about to lose. Ashley Judd can give a rats ass about the wolves, she and the other damn libs just want Sarah stopped so that she won’t win in 2012
I don’t think I have ever been so furious with a celebrity. Even Rosie O’Donnell doesn’t make me as mad.
Come to think of it, Rosie said nice things about Sarah.
I’ve got 4 email address, so today I sent the DOW an email from each with subject lines like: Judd has inspired me to donate; Another donation on the way because of Judd. The body of the email contained the link to SarahPAC.
I also sent them an email suggesting that their poster girl could have herself airdropped into Alaska where she could perform abortions on wolves. I’m sure that would be acceptable to her, since she’s a pro-abortion fanatic.
Actually, she played one good part, but can’t remember what it was at this time!:)
Nice! hahaahahhaa So so true.
I wonder if Ashley Judd is interested in saving aborted babies.
Because as the past federal administration proved, when you don’t defend yourself, the opposition is free to define you to the public. And it’s not a fight; the governor’s office responded to the falsehood and that’s all they need to say on the topic.
Good luck to her. LOL It ain’t gonna happen.
She was good in her small roles in HEAT, SMOKE (hmmm, there’s a connection) and in her first movie, RUBY IN PARADISE. Kinda monotonous other than those.
Ashley Judd knows nothing about wild animals, wildlife management, or hunting. This is simply another Bash Palin ploy.”
Ms Judd is married to a guy that seems relatively sane and intelligent...
What is the pool for how long before he divorces her???
Judd's comment "When Sarah Palin came on the national scene last summer, few knew that she promotes the brutal aerial killing of wolves. "It is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery." gives the game away.
The left knows full well that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin connected with the voters and the Democrat honchos are frightened of her appeal. They hope to be able to attack her on any grounds, over and over, until her name is synonomous with 'bad' and she is effectively destroyed as a viable Republican presidential nominee in 2012. Watch the Democrats swarm to the polls in those insane 'open' primary elections to vote for 'anyone but Palin'.
I fully expect that by late 2010, books will be published (traced to leftist money) written by alleged 'friends' of the Alaska governor, portraying Sarah Palin as some kind of maniac, drug addict, adulterer, corrupt hypocrite or worse, all in an attempt to kill her chances at a run for the U.S. presidency in 2012.
This is why this kind of garbage by some dopey Hollywood sock puppet for the left has to be answered and refuted, as Palin did, although her response won't get half the media coverage that Judd's attack has been given.
The game is on for 2012 and silly little actresses without a clue, like Ashley Judd, spouting fact-free attacks on notable Republican politicians (Bobby Jindal is probably next) are the advance guard for the leftist army, who probably already realize their 'Messiah', Obama, will be a hard sell by 2012.
We can't allow the left to define Palin or any currently credible candidate for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
She seems comfortable with this weapon
Whimpish or Mousey detractors should use caution.
She is trying to goose up movie attendance. Gotta pay rent!
Yeah I was just about to post this, anyone here who is interested in donating to SarahPac, email these buffoons
defenders@mail.defenders.org
and tell them that you will be donating money on Ashley’s behalf to SarahPac, that outta piss the hell outta them

I like the way she looks but the way she thinks or speaks.
I have no idea who the dumb bitch is but she needs to be told to go F herself!
Nothing against you 2ndDivisionVet, and I am only mentioning this because this is more written press than Ashley Judd has had in the last 8 months.
She was dieing a deserved death of obscurity until the last week or so. She obviously is taking advantage of the "Palin Bump". Sarah should take out a trade mark on her beneficial media interest.
What a waste
Yeah and Sarah is like what 10 years older? AJ proves that “celebrity” will wear on a person.
I never saw the baby pictures of Ashley....
Ashley Judd arguing with Sarah Palin is like a chicken arguing with Col. Sanders.
What Palin needs to relay to Judd is pretty simple. Unlike you, I have been vetted by an electorate, they have chosen me because of my leadership in the State of Alaska. If you would like to change how Alaska operates, move here and run for office, or stay in California and STFU.
But, as a politician, you cannot respond to every absurd criticism. Not only is it not possible in the practical sense, it encourages them.
You have to pick and choose who you respond to because it gives them instant credibility.
I yearn for the day we can hunt PETA members from a helicopter....
Perfectly said. Thanks.
Obviously, she’s not responding to every criticism. Has she said anything about the NY judge who said she used Trig as a prop? Has she said anything about the article criticizing her patent leather boots? No and no. And there are dozens of other instances where she hasn’t responded. In fact, I don’t think she’s responded to anybody’s foolishness since her interviews with Greta V. and the documentary filmmaker.
Responding to the media makes a lot more sense than responding to a twit actress.
I got into an argument one day with a man from work who attended the seminary and wears a Notre Dame jacket. He proudly boasted that he is a Vegan, and wouldn’t dream of eating anything having to do with animals. He wouldn’t even go into the same room where we were having our office Thanksgiving dinner because he couldn’t stand to see the turkey being cut up and eaten after seeing a show about the “inhumane” slaughter of turkeys.
I asked him what did he think about the horrors of killing innocent babies during a partial birth abortion procedure? He didn’t like the question. He said that there were enough spokesmen for the babies, but no one to speak for the poor, defenseless animals. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, but I shouldn’t have been surprised.
If you asked my what movies Ashley Judd was in I couldn’t tell you cause I’ve not seen any of them so I really don’t know who she is but if I were Palin, I would also reply that this fringe group uses Hollywood actors who are supposed to be making movies to help get their political distortions out.
Not enough publicity? Sarah is prettier than her?
Or she is dutifully carrying water for the democratic party, because even democrats pass hunting laws and regulations that allow for the control of wildlife populations and in doing so, help keep wildlife's diseases from spreading to other animals. And if I remember correctly Ashley Judd said nothing about Blagojevich's hunting legislation of 2003.
Let's just look at it:
Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich today signed legislation at the Mercer Court House in Aledo allowing establishment of special hunting seasons to help combat wildlife diseases threatening Illinois deer herd.
Wildlife managers now have another tool to use in battling chronic wasting disease and other wildlife diseases that may pose a threat to our wild deer herd and our states long-standing deer hunting tradition, Blagojevich said at the bill signing outside the County Courthouse. As we have seen with the recent spread of other diseases involving native and exotic wildlife, we need laws and regulations that allow us to act quickly to contain them. This law does that and will help secure the future of deer hunting in Illinois. link
That's pretty much what Sarah is doing. But the point here is, where was Ashley Judd when one of her Democrat buddies in 2003 was passing laws about killing deer?
Well, it was a state policy that Gov. Palin was defending. That was warranted. She needn’t respond to every jerk that criticizes her wardrobe or her family, etc.
I think that there is something of an underlying threat that women like Sarah Palin pose to the old feminist orthodoxy. Women like Sarah Palin DO have it all and they are not bitter misandrists.
That's probably a big part of the underlying problem.
I’m sad to say that America, in the past fifty-five years, has produced a feel-good culture where it is easier to accept a challenge to believe than a challenge to think.
