The Senators We Need To Target (Squishy GOP Votes)

We need to be calling all of our senators, folks. But some might need more attention than others. That said, I just finished calling every Republican in the Senate, plus Joe Lieberman. I kept a tally of who gave a firm no, and who seemed to be a little more on the squishy side. The ones who gave a firm no should still get phone calls, mind you, to make sure they don’t change their position. But it’s the squishy ones who really need our attention. Here’s the tally:

FIRMLY OPPOSES: I only put someone down in the “no” column if the response I got from the office was a firm no. Any wavering or talk of compromise and bipartisanship got them in the “squish” column. So, here are the senators currently planning on voting no: # Jeff Sessions # Kit Bond # Jon Kyl # John McCain # Mike Johann # John Ensign # Richard Burr # Tom Coburn # James Inhofe # Mike Crapo # James Risch # Jim DeMint # Lindsay Graham # Sam Brownback # Pat Roberts # John Thune # Jim Bunning # Mitch McConnell # Bob Corker # David Vitter # Robert Bennett # John Barrasso

Now, just because they’re saying they oppose it right now doesn’t mean that decision is carved in stone, so don’t hesitate to continue contacting them. Let them know you support their decision and tell them that they’re doing the right thing. Encourage them. Be nice.

Now, for the rest of the group.

THE SQUISHES: These are the people whose votes are liable to change, along with any notes I wrote down about my conversations with them. # Richard Shelby — I got busy signals on both lines, so I just put him in the squish column. # Lisa Murkowski — definite squish; plus, her staffer was a huge asshat on the phone. # Thad Cochran # Judd Gregg — said he was abstaining from voting. # Joe Lieberman # Mel Martinez # Saxby Chambliss — said he currently opposed it, but was “open to compromise” # George Voinovich — voted no in appropriations but is still open to voting for the bill # Johnny Isakson # Arlen Specter — both of his lines were busy, I never actually got through # Richard Lugar # Chuck Grassley # Roger Wicker # Lamar Alexander — likely a “no” vote, but still possibly squishy # John Cornyn — no answer on either line # Kay Bailey Hutchison — busy on both lines # Susan Collins # Olympia Snowe # Michael Enzi — “leaning towards no”

So folks, that’s where we stand right now on the positions of the Republican senators. Let’s light up those phones now. You can get their phone numbers here.

Okay, clearly we still have work to do. I didn't realize that there were still GOP Senators that are "squishy" on this. And what's up with Saxby? Gov. Palin needs to call him and in her best Margaret Thatcher impression tell him this is not a time to go "wobbly".

The phone numbers are at the link.

If their DC numbers are busy, call the in-state numbers. Michael Steele of the RNC also needs to help out.

Shows how far we have gone to the dark side to have that many squishes. Good news for now, but hard to believe that Graham and McCain aren’t part of the squishes.

TArget a couple of Blue Dog Dis too. I would bet Gillibrand could be prsuaded. She was the only NY Dem to vote against the Septeber bailout bill. Maybe Nelson — he seems to have reservations about the bill.

Just sent my “squishy” senator Chambliss a scathing e-mail. Told him Sarah Palin would not come save his seat for him next time. Also told him I don’t care what the democrats think about him. He better start worrying about what Georgians think about him.

I wouldn’t trust McCain as far as I could throw him.

While we’re all calling and emailing, it would be a good idea for those inclined to THANK the firm ones for their decisions! Adding a little cement to their backbones is a good idea and believe me, positive comments DO get remembered.

“THE SQUISHES”

Politicians that don't have to worry about the lynch mob's
at home, will never respect their constituencies wishes.

“The Squishes”, have no fear of becoming the squished. If there was ever a time to light a fire under a Rino's posterior, it's now.

Don’t count on the Gillibrand for anything. She voted along with McCain, Feinstein and Graham (R-SC) in favor of Holder as AG.

How about we take it a step further ?
Notify the Squishes that we will boycott their state’s products ( in their names ) in retaliation
for their capitulation to Obama’s socialism.
No more Georgia peaches in honor of Chambliss and Isakson.
No more LL Bean, Maine blueberries and maple syrup in honor of Collins and Snowe.
No more Texas beef in honor of Hutchison and Cornyn.
Add to the list.
Actions have consequences.

Same here. He’s a little sleaze-bag that leans whichever the wind blows.

The Senators we need to target are Democrat Senators. Any Republican even remotely considering voting for this has already lost his/her mind.

Get on the phones to Senators like Landrieu, Feinstein, Nelson, Cantwell, Conrad, and Johnson.

Collins (202) 224-2523
Snowe (202) 224-5344
Specter (202) 224-4254

Mail boxes are full. Hmmmmmm! One of two things, lots of truly p-ssed off people or they are hiding!

Yes, Dems, too. However, I was just surprised that there were so many GOP Senators that were wavering; I thought we only had to worry about the traitors Collins, Snowe and Specter and now I hear that these GOP ones are “squishy”? Pathetic.

I seriously doubt Kay Bailey Hutchinson will vote for this bill. Consider this:

Also, she’s probably running for governor in TX soon and a vote yes on something like this, would ruin her here...

I’ve lived in five states since 1994. As a result, there are four people on these lists for whom I’ve voted. Three are in the “no” column and one is squishy.
