Result of directive expands security body's role far beyond traditional range

President Obama plans to order a sweeping overhaul of the National Security Council, expanding its membership and increasing its authority to set strategy across a wide spectrum of international and domestic issues.

The result will be a "dramatically different" NSC from that of the Bush administration or any of its predecessors since the forum was established after World War II to advise the president on diplomatic and military matters, according to national security adviser James L. Jones, who described the changes in an interview.

It is just greater centralization of power in the WH. The big losers will be the State Department, DOD, the CIA, etc. The NSC has always played the major role in foreign policy, but this sounds like it will also include domestic policies as well.

New NSC directorates will deal with such department-spanning 21st-century issues as cybersecurity, energy, climate change, nation-building and infrastructure.

Climate change? You've gotta be kidding.

Karen DeYoung is the worst of the twisted Washpost staff.

This article tells nothing (Jones wouldn’t be fool enough to tell her anything)...

it’s just a transparent vehicle to lie about the Bush administration

At first, the domestic surveillance will be done on the neighborhood level. There are already nannies in every neighborhood. If you are already a known target, expect harassment: you don’t attend political House Parties, your lawn isn’t up to code; you use too much water; you own a gas-guzzler; your lights are on too late and are too bright and too numerous. Your children are not properly indoctrinated. Someone heard you playing Rush on the radio outside in your yard. Etc, et al, yadda, yadda. Complaints are filed. People allege hurt feelings due to your actions.

The real surveillance at the NSC level will be reserved for all conservative groups: Christians, Second Amendment,RNC,writers, bloggers, GOP politicians and donors First Amendment.

It will behoove us all to join the Church of the Low Profile and keep political conversations limited to a face-to-face situation with people you trust implicitly.

This is a Maoist administration and power cabal. They are vicious. They do not limit their exercise of power to those outside the group. I expect Blue Dogs and patriotic donks to be the first casualties.

This will give lesser cabinet members access to sensitive timely information that will probably be disseminated to the press.....or worse.

A domestic role for a National Security Council with all the law enforcement agencies on it? Hmmmm, could that be another step on the path to complete socialism and thought control? It scares the heck out of me. Be Very Afraid!!

Where are all the Moonbats decrying this concentration of power into the grasping hands of the Washington security establishment?

Do they no longer fear their calls from overseas might be monitored or their library habits checked?

If Hussein follows Clinton’s example, the major focus of the NSC and the CIA and probably even DIA and NSA will be turned to Christians, Conservatives and Gun owners. foreign targets will be mostly ignored as irrelevant. That all goes or the IRS, too. Remember the conservative think tanks were under pretty much continuous IRS audit for the whole Clinton term.

I foresee every department in Obama’s administration being charged with dealing with climate change.

See how fast he’s changing things, slipping things in, and most people don’t even hear about it or have a clue what he’s doing. Eventually his civilian security force will end up here. That’s where those all those new jobs created will come from because they sure as hell aren’t in the Porkulus bill.
