Michael Steele: Money for Sister a 'Legitimate Transaction'
ABC News, This Week ^ | February 8, 2009 | ABC-George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 02/08/2009 4:07:22 PM PST by CedarDave

During our exclusive interview with Michael Steele, the newly elected Republican National Committee chairman, Steele lashed out at yesterday's Washington Post article.

The Post reported Steele's 2006 Senate campaign finance chairman has told federal prosecutors that Steele arranged for his 2006 Senate campaign to pay a defunct company run by his sister for services that were never rendered.

"It's not true," Steele told me on "This Week" Sunday.

"Those allegations were leveled by a convicted felon who was trying to get a reduced sentence on his conviction," Steele said. "The reality of it is that the US attorney, as well as the judge, looked at what he presented and it did not apply. He said there was no credibility to it."

Steele said, "the Washington Post ought to be ashamed of itself for getting out in front of something without all of the facts."

Bottom line: Steele will do what he needs to get this behind him so he can focus on his new job as RNC chair.

Remember that time Obama propaganda minister George Hussein Stephanopoulos cried at Obama's inauguration?

He must be a threat to the Dems if they are sending out the hit squads.

Amazing how the MSM ignores far worse factual stuff from Obamas cabinet.

Strange that the alphabet networks can only summon the energy to dig into Republican backgrounds . . . .

The fascists in the media will happily assist in beheading any republican who dares try to lead the opposition.

I find it hard to believe they would willingly help bring on a one party police state, but indeed they are.

Girylman George cried at Obama’s inauguration. Maybe he should ask Chris Matthews out.

Well, they should, but why should they start now?

Sufficiently credible source for the MSM. BTW, the only difference between this guy and the Obama administration is a trial.

**Steele said, “the Washington Post ought to be ashamed of itself for getting out in front of something without all of the facts.”**

Good for Steele for calling the WaPo on the carpet.

There's a definite pattern materializing here, which is classic Axelrod, i.e. destroy the competetion before it gets rolling and becomes a serious threat.

Monica Turner, Michael Steele's half sister was married to Mike Tyson for 5 years. Is this the sister referred to in your post? http://somd.com/news/headlines/2006/4601.shtml

Then you think WaPo is a credible news source??

The media already tried this nonsense on Steele back in ‘06 and before that when he ran for LT. Governor in Maryland.

The Dems won’t touch this themselves because they know it will blow up in their faces, so they send the dinosaur media out their to smear Steele.

We’re talking about 37 thousand dollars. Has anyone checked into the millions of dollars that Slow Joe’s children made during his presidential run? Not WaPO!
