Pakistan condemns 'barbaric' Polish killing: FM

ISLAMABAD (AFP) – Pakistan on Tuesday condemned the Taliban's killing of a Polish engineer as "absolutely barbaric", after Warsaw blamed his death on Islamabad's "apathy" towards tackling extremism.

Piotr Stanczak, who was abducted in late September in volatile northwest Pakistan, was beheaded at the weekend by his Taliban captors, who then released a graphic video of the execution to several media outlets.

Warsaw has confirmed the authenticity of the video and vowed to find Stanczak's killers, who are believed to come from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Pakistan's umbrella Taliban organisation which has links to Al-Qaeda.

"Officially the ministry of interior has to verify that tragic incident but it seems that if that is so, it is a very tragic event," Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told a news conference in Islamabad.

"And if that is so, I would want to condole with the Polish people, the Polish government and his family," he added.

Qureshi said Stanczak, who was working as a geologist for a Polish oil and natural gas exploration company, was working to help Pakistan's development -- making his death even more tragic.

"To do something like that is absolutely barbaric... The government of Pakistan condemns it in the strongest possible terms," Qureshi said.

A spokesman for the Polish embassy in Islamabad said Qureshi expressed his condolences in a private capacity to Polish ambassador Krzystof Debnicki, but that Pakistan's official confirmation would depend on recovering the body.

Isn’t a condemnation of such a barbaric act a given?

Time to clean the nests in FATA, Pakistan?

Pakistan has its hands full. It’s allies would be more than happy to lend assistance, well a few , anyway.

Sounds like the Poles have a president with a little more gonads than “THE ONE”. “THE ONE” however would be glad to drop all the charges if he is ever caught.

Empty words. The Pakistani government’s inability and unwillingness to rid themselves of these types speaks volumes. They are not allies in the WOT. Never have been....never will be.

I'm sure as soon as the mohammedans stop celebrating in the streets, they'll condemn it.

Ditto.

Front pages of Polish newspapers show stories on the execution of a Polish hostage. As Poles reeled in shock Monday after the beheading of a Polish engineer by militants in Pakistan, their government vowed to hunt down his murderers and bring them to justice. (AFP/Janek Skarzynski)

I meant by western states.

What is the point of condemning an obvious act of barbarity?

To condole? How about handing over the animals to Poland Mehmood.

Or how about just blasting this demon state to smithereens...

“Yes, actions mean more than words.” Yes, one word: GROM.

I have heard of GROM. About all I know is they are some kind of Polish special forces.

From the little I recall about Polish soldiers in WWII, I bet they are good. Tough, brave, and smart.

Don't you understand Islamofascism...yet?

The condemnation illustrates the proper merciful attitude of Allah, while creating Polish dhimmitude simultaneously.

If Pakistan really wanted to help, they would allow several cadres of the Polish Secret Service into Pakistan to hunt these perps down and kill them, SANS TRIAL.

If it were an Israeli, the Mossad would have them already.

The announcement is simply to make people feel more hopeless in Poland, for having troops in Afghanistan.

ITS OBAMAS FAULT!!!!!GET OUR US TROOPS OUT OF AFGHANISTAN!!!(sarc.)
