Support your local police and keep them independent.I agree, but some departments just have too many expensive toys.
To: absolootezer0
heck, you could just about buy the whole city of detroit for that. And then the SWAT teams could practice where the locals shoot back at them. Nothing like a little realism in training...

....yep, the mob will attack the local police station as a show of their strength....a way of saying “this is our turf”

>For example, at Columbine the SWATys deployed and then hung outside until everyone who eventually died did die.
Please restate that, because as is it’s a horrid little piece of “logic”.

If you fail to stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.
(That applies to being used as cannon-fodder by tyrants.)

Sorry...should have thought first then typed.
My proposition on Columbine: SWAT arrived and did nothing until the shooting was over. Then they entered the building.

A gun grab will trigger it. If they are smart, I hope they don’t try it. That’s the time to either decide to join in or get out. Getting out is the easier of the 2 choice.

I dont think most cops would gladly try to take their neighbors guns. Of course there are always a few brownshirt types that would do it whistling showtunes.
This is why Obama wants his own, politically reliable police/military force.

So can anyone name five times, from anywhere in the U.S., when the deployment of SWAT. I realize that this is a bash the jackbooted SWAT thread, but if you consider all the totally absurd stuff in the spending plan this does not deserve mention.
We are still at great risk of more terrorists attacks and the local police will be the first to jump in the line of fire. It is clear to me that a Mumbai type of attack is in our future and our local police need the equipment and training to send them to their happy holy ground most ricky tick.
Given this administrations capitulation on the WOT I am surprised that at least some practical homeland security equipment managed to slip in.

This type of article is most distasteful. The cop haters snivel when the police equip themselves with firearms and armored vehicles and train their officers. They would whine even louder if the bad guys took over the local mall and the police responded with stock Ford sedans and small caliber pistols and no training. I want to see my police fully equipped and trained and ready to defend me and my neighbors from the bad guys. You should too.
