GOODBYE, AMERICA! IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED
February 11, 2009
It's bad enough when illiterate jurors issue damages awards in the billions of dollars because they don't grasp the difference between a million and a billion. Now it turns out the Democrats don't know the difference between a million and a trillion.
Why not make the "stimulus bill" a kazillion dollars?
All Americans who work for a living, or who plan to work for a living sometime in the next century, are about to be stuck with a trillion-dollar bill to fund yet more oppressive government bureaucracies. Or as I call it, a trillion dollars and change.
The stimulus bill isn't as bad as we had expected -- it's much worse. Instead of merely creating useless, make-work jobs digging ditches -- or "shovel-ready," in the Democrats' felicitous phrase -- the "stimulus" bill will create an endless army of government bureaucrats aggressively intervening in our lives. Instead of digging ditches, American taxpayers will be digging our own graves.
There are hundreds of examples in the 800-page "stimulus" bill, but here are just two.
First, the welfare bureaucrats are coming back.
For half a century, the welfare establishment had the bright idea to pay women to have children out of wedlock. Following the iron laws of economics -- subsidize something, you get more of it; tax it, you get less of it -- the number of children being born out of wedlock skyrocketed.
The 1996 Welfare Reform bill marked the first time any government entitlement had ever been rolled back. Despite liberal howling and foot-stomping, not subsidizing illegitimacy led, like night into day, to less illegitimacy.
Welfare recipients got jobs, as the hard-core unemployables were coaxed away from their TV sets and into the workforce. For the first time in decades, the ever-increasing illegitimacy rate stopped spiraling upward.
As proof that that welfare reform was a smashing success, a few years later, Bill Clinton started claiming full credit for the bill.
Well, that's over. The stimulus bill goes a long way toward repealing the work requirement of the 1996 Republican Welfare Reform bill and rewards states that increase their welfare caseloads by paying unwed mothers to sit home doing nothing.

The new liberal version is: There are those who look at things and ask, "Why on earth should the government be paying for that?" I dream of things that never were funded by the government and ask, "Why not?"
Another “it must be Wednesday, hereeeeee’s Ann!”

I can be like a mom to my dog. Can I get welfare now?
LOL....best laugh I've had all day....

H. L. Coulter
"If I've offended anyone," Ann Coulter told an audience of 1,200 at the Nixon Library today, "my work is done."
Charming and thoughtful in person -- a Connecticut Yankee who was graduated with honors from Cornell, studied law at Michigan, clerked for an appeals court judge, and litigated on behalf of individual freedom before becoming a commentator -- Coulter absolutely horrifies her critics. Strong, forbearing men shuddered with alarm on learning that the Nixon Foundation had invited her to speak, answer questions, and sign copies of her seventh book, Guilty.
For me, the key question came from a fan who wondered why she didn't have her own show on cable. She doesn't want one."I'm a writer," she said. At that point I began to pay closer attention to the deftness of her wordplay, which she had been honing until five minutes before I had the pleasure of introducing her.
Just think H. L. Mencken, who said, "I believe that all government is evil, in that all government must necessarily make war upon liberty..."
We are so boned.
Truthfully, there are some textual works which may have value beyond price, but I have not, nor do ever expect that a page's worth of words can amount to a billion dollars. Them must be some pretty damn flowery and persuasive words on them pages, I'll tell ya!.......must be some pretty powerful bullshit.
Actually, George Bernard Shaw said that “Why not?” quote, and if I am not mistaken those words were spoken by Satan in one of his (Shaw’s) plays.
Regards,
I'll bet you a quadrillion she will..
Off topic, but just had to post this. Hilarious.
Guess what? Ed Hale over at Plains Radio is going to charge $10 a month to use the chat room!!
He said on the chat recently that he was a millionaire, yet he asked for donations to run his on line radio. When the bloggers trashed him for that, he quit. Now its $10 a month or you get kicked out of the chat room and forum!
What a scam artist!

Between the secretive socialists, the bumbling bureaucrats, the repugnant rinos and the militant mohammedans it might be GOODBYE AMERICA.
A song to send us on our way...

Giggling...Ron Dog doesn’t look banned.
If we replaced all elected officials tomorrow with moribund alcoholics, they clearly couldn’t do much worse, and might do better.
Forget about ever rolling back this time. This is just one of the vote buying that the Communists are putting in place. Buying vote removes the socialists label and combined with health plans, places them as Communists because they will never be removed form power. And the slaves of this Government will tax us to death to pay for this coup.
We even get to pay for the shovels. Made by union labor, of course.
RonDog who?
:)
Hello Brad’s Gramma.
Hello, Cindy....I hope your day is going well!
How much per word?
I expected the socialists to do what they’re doing.
What is shocking is that Americans aren’t doing anything about it.
You would think it’s just another day in America.
We should be rioting in the streets!
Is that OK to say, or will I now be visited by the gov’t goons?
WE SHOULD BE MAKING HAVOC IN THE STREETS!
They are making sure our children will be slaves to their agenda.
THE FOUNDING FATHERS WOULD BE RIOTING NOW.
THOMAS JEFFERSON WOULD BE CALLING FOR BLOOD!
What the heck is wrong with Americans?
Dunno, but if anyone has access to the pdf document, if it comes out, can look at the properties of the file and get the total count....easy math...point is that the chickenshits will not allow the entire negotiated bill to be widely published...somebody gonna have to work to get it....
Same to you Brad’s Gramma.
It’s ok.
A little sun today.
“Instead of your treatment being determined by your doctor, it will be settled on by some narcoleptic half-wit in Washington who couldn't get a job in the private sector. “
They’re lazy sheep.
It struck me today when I heard the number of pages in this new bill. Over 8 hundred pages. Nice how that worked out isn’t it? Let’s see 8 hundred pages, 800 Billion Dollars - hmmmmmm, a BILLION DOLLARS A PAGE!”
Pelosi handed the bill out in the House and demanded that they vote on it in a matter of hours!!!
NO ONE had any chance to read this bill.
Where is there a website that gives us the highlights???
Please private message me if you have one. Thx.
Don’t have one yet, but I’d hazard to guess they are going to keep a tight rein on this one now that it will pass formally. I’d expect that it will be hard to come by in fully readable form......
The essay had some great points and as usual some great zingers, but over all the tone was a bit sore loser-ish. I was going to post it on my facebook page but I decided my commie "friends" might be able to mock the tone so I decided not to post it.
Speaking of facebook, I have been on there for about a month now and I encourage everyone to open an account. It is very easy to post all sorts of links so you can get conservative ideas in the social network. I love Freerepublic but we are preaching to the choir here. I really think we need to pollinate folks who don't pay attention to politics.
LOL. A keeper.
I have often thought about joining one of the many social networking sites but have resisted due to issues of personal security.
I am, among other things, a writer that publishes under my real name.
It is not hard to figure out who I really am but why make it even easier? Furthermore, I will be exposing friends and family members to the same sort of whack jobs that I have learned to live with.
No thanks, I have enough problems as it is.
It’s a sad world we live in my FRiend.
knewshound
Shaw may have used it first, but if he did, RFK stole it from him. I have seen Kennedy saying those words several times over the years.
“GOODBYE, AMERICA! IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED”
Soon we’ll all be like Julio and Henrietta. Help me massaa...
We are virtualy paying for building the tanks which will roll in our lives to force us to buy participating products.
These liberal tanks are the stimulus to get the American leftist idiot voters to keep voting and shopping as they do without changing.
Folkes do not understand that when an army of this sort sends you to do something, it always is an order, not an option, whether it is to dig trenches or to shop.
All government, in its essence, is a conspiracy against the superior man: its one permanent object is to oppress him and cripple him.
If it be aristocratic in organization, then it seeks to protect the man who is superior only in law against the man who is superior in fact; if it be democratic, then it seeks to protect the man who is inferior in every way against both.
One of its primary functions is to regiment men by force, to make them as much alike as possible . . . to search out and combat originality among them.
All it can see in an original idea is potential change, and hence an invasion of its prerogatives.
The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos.
Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it.
And even if he is not romantic personally he is very apt to spread discontent among those who are. . . .
The ideal government of all reflective men, from Aristotle onward, is one which lets the individual aloneone which barely escapes being no government at all.
This ideal, I believe, will be realized in the world twenty or thirty centuries after I have taken up my public duties in Hell.
- H.L. Mencken,
I guess I am a little surprised by the comparison of the stimulus bill to socialism. This is similar to socialism but really what this stimulus bill is THEFT!!! I believe most socialist countries pay as they go along and not burden people that aren’t even born. This is out and out Robbery! Congress thinks that they
We should be at out state capitols with pitch forks.
McCain is correct: I think this can only be described as generational theft. What we are doing is amassing multi-trillions of dollars, said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), speaking on CBSs Face The Nation with Bob Schieffer.

I stopped by the Barnes & Noble to do a little more "advanced recon" earlier this evening.
LAST WEEK when I stopped by, they had a few nice displays, but with only five or six books each, and a few nice little signs -- printed on 8 1/2 x 11 inch color printer pages.
I was concerned. But, that was THEN...
NOW, they have a HUGE TABLE full of Ann's new books, in preparation for tomorrow's event:
4 rows x 11 stacks x 12 high = over FIVE HUNDRED hardback copies of "Guilty"!Plus, they now have a GIANT (but very elegant) BANNER -- six feet wide, and four feet tall welcoming Ann to Barnes and Noble!
(Even Kirk Douglas only sold 200-300 copies when HE was here -- their PREVIOUS record for a booksigning at this location.)
And, they have MOVED her booksigning table from it's previously-planned "train wreck"-in-waiting position DOWNSTAIRS, to an UPSTAIRS location -- just inside a massive "picture window," so that everybody in the mall can see her as they walk by!They are apparently also bringing in LOTS of extra staff, including some big shot REGIONAL mucky-muck.
We are going to BLOW THEIR MINDS with this one."We" being me, and a few of my FRiends. :o)
Wow Ron Dog, that sounds wonderful.
Now that is REALLY nice to hear, Ron....really nice.
Think I’ll go down at ....... 1:00 to buy a book.
KIDDING!!!!!!
:)
