I’m with you.
We must consider that the money we gave to Charity before is now being taken from us and given to the people who need. That is my charitable contribution.

Short of my church, nothing to charity.

Here are a couple more:

1) change party registration to Independent

2) cancel newspaper subscriptions

3) move finances from banks to credit unions

What about challenging each and every RINO in primaries so the Congress will uniformly liberal? I suppose it will be a great improvement, isn't it?

Poor - Poor Henrietta? This woman and her GROWN son borrowed some money in New York and on Jan. 18, 2009 jumped in their car and moved to Florida with a stopover in Pa. She figured she and her son would find jobs the day they arrived in Fl.

I do not feel sorrow for her and her linebacker sized son!

I don’t know how you managed to miss that Costco is left wing, I have been boycotting them since the mid 90s.

http://www.slate.com/id/2104988/
So far this campaign cycle, Costco CEO James Sinegal has made campaign donations of $93,500 according to OpenSecrets.org—all of it to Democratic candidates and entities. Brotman has donated $38,250 in this cycle, again all to Democrats. In addition, Brotman and Sinegal have also given $95,000 apiece to the Joint Victory Campaign, one of the most influential of the anti-Bush527 committees, independent entities that can accept unlimited donations from individuals. Sol Price, the founder of Price Club, which merged with Costco in 1993, has given more than $44,000 to Democratic campaign causes this cycle.

Wal-Mart, by contrast, focuses its fundraising largely on Republicans. Jay Allen, Wal-Mart’s senior vice president for corporate affairs, is a Bush Pioneer, meaning he’s raised at least $100,000. Wal-Mart CEO Leo Scott has donated to the president’s re-election campaign. Through July 6, according to Sheila Krumholz, research director at the Center for Responsive Politics, Wal-Mart—the company, its PAC, and individuals employed by it—have made political donations of $1.658 million. Of that, $1.34 million, or 81 percent, went to Republicans. While many corporate PACs hedge their bets and give to both parties in rough proportion to their control of Congress, “Wal-Mart stores appears to be a more ideologically aligned company,” said Krumholz.

>>3) move finances from banks to credit unions<<

Could you please tell me why this helps?
I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Garage sales.
Gardens.
Bartering.

Anything that is cash only and tax free.

Fortunately, my county turned red this past election cycle. I live and work in the same county.

I usually don’t claim my medical expenses (prescriptions, co-pays) but I did this year.

We go to Virginia Beach every year for vacation, but I think I’m switching it this year. We’ve progressively seen that Virginia Beach is becoming a nanny-state and I would rather spend my money elsewhere and support conservative vacation spots.

Aldi’s use to be cash only, now they take debit cards. Less service, is that good or bad?

Yes they moved to Florida but not to a house they were living in their car. They now have a house because she scamed the people watching her sob story with Obambi!

If you have kids, instead of paying college tuition, use the money to start a small business that generates lots of CASH. Starve academia.

” is that good or bad? “

Don’t think there’s an absolute answer to that — the original poster asked what could be done ‘as a small retailer’, and I suggested a few areas to explore....

My point is that I believe that small outfits that have the vision and courage to move beyond ‘the way we’ve always done business’ are more likely to thrive in the coming troubles than the larger or more hidebound ‘traditional’ businesses.....

YMMV, of course.....

filing an extension will not help. when you file the extension you must go ahead and pay what you owe or you will be subject to interest and penalties when you actually file the return. changing your w4 so you get as much money each payday as possible and don’t let the govt hold your money interest free and and then get a refund will definitely help. this will be huge if many taxpayers do it

I pay quarterly. What are the penalties for holding back on the quarterly payments and paying lump sum next April 15 instead?

Attack Hollywood. I ended a once a week movie habit in 2003 once they chose to support the other side in a war against the U.S.A.

Do not attend movies, do not buy movies, do not rent movies. In non-political terms, trash new movies on review sites (even though you haven’t seen them) to drive down attendance.

Talk down TV shows whenever the subject comes up in conversation - always in non-political terms, but ridicule it as unhip, poor quality, laughable fare.

Find out how to become a Nielsen family (do they still do that?) and drive ratings into the sewer.

Above all, shut off anything that drives cash or viewership to Hollywood. This is something that every one of us can do something toward.

If you run a business, stop issuing 1099 forms on subcontractor businesses when not legally required. They are required only when you pay unincorporated individuals.

The interest rate is low, and the penalties can be avoided by following the rules, even if you don’t pay on time.
