Ciavarella, Conahan emerge from courthouse (hostile crowd: "rot in hell")

SCRANTON - Yells of "rot in hell" and "I hope the Aryan Nation loves you in prison" were directed at Luzerne County judges Mark A. Ciavarella and Michael T. Conahan when they emerged from the federal courthouse in Scranton.

Ciavarella and Conahan pleaded guilty to federal charges that they accepted more than $2.6 million in kickbacks in connection to the construction and operation of juvenile detention facilities.

Both judges appeared with their respective attorneys inside the courtroom that was filled to capacity. A second courtroom was set up to accommodate the overflow crowd who watched the 45 minute proceeding that began at 1 p.m.

Ciavarella leaned back in his chair, and Conahan leaned forward, sometimes rubbing his eyes and crossing his arms, during the proceeding.

They said little during the hearing, acknowledging U.S. District Judge Edwin M. Kosik's responses by saying, "Yes, your honor."

After the proceeding, Ciavarella and Conahan emerged together from the courthouse and made their way pass the large gathering of media to a waiting Chevrolet Blazer. Ciavarella said "No comment" as he sat in the back seat.

Several people screamed at the judges, "I hope you rot in hell," "I hope the Aryan Nation loves you in prison," "What do you have to say now to the kids you sent away, you pig."

The rear door was shut but was reopened when an attorney got in the back seat. When the door reopened, several people resumed screaming at the judges. One man who yelled came within two feet of Ciavarella's face.

Under the negotiated plea with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Ciavarella and Conahan have agreed to serve 87 months in prison. They will be sentenced at a later date.

Righteous outrage I’d say.

If our judges are corrupt and/or politicized, we have no hope.

Even if the judiciary is corrupt, you always have hope. 5.56 mm or 7.62 mm.

Hopefully neither one of these monsters will ever leave prison alive.

"If our judges are corrupt and/or politicized, we have no hope." They are and have been for a long time. Especially those appointed by democrats, but Republican appointees aren't exempt either. Why else do you think we get such outrageous rulings that contradict our constitution, and the sovereignty of the nation? Why else is such a simple task, ordering Obama to produce his original birth certificate in accordance with he law, such a daunting task?

I hope the Aryan Nation loves you in prison..

Huh? What was the intent of that statement?
Certainly the AN is little different than any other gang of prison thugs

What do you mean if?

The “if” was rhetorical of course. Just a statement to acknowledge rule-of-law as one of the fundamental underpinnings of western civilization.

I’m thrilled to see the grassroots outrage (long overdue), at this venal, self-serving, corrupt judicial scum.

"If our judges are corrupt and/or politicized, we have no hope."

Well for many years already, I have been watching democrats appoint to bhe bench criminals, sex abusers, drunk drivers, and gays who decide every case they possibly can in favor of the gay agenda.

Upscale law school have been teaching law from a largely postmodern perspective for maybe 25 years. So we get leftists on the bench who firmly believe that law has no use except for those with power to impose their power on others. So what happens when such people get appointed to the bench? (Rhetorical question.) Leftwing judges are already overwhelmingly corrupt snd politicized.

And once Obama gets through with the Federal judiciary, we will truly be a third-world country in terms of our court system. Count on it!

I know, but they singled out a white supremacy gang in particular, which leads me to believe that there is more to the inference.
