State representative joins group challenging Obama's citizenship
Memphis Commercial Appeal ^ | February 12, 2009 | Richard Locker

NASHVILLE – A Tennessee state legislator is apparently the first elected official to add his name as a “plaintiff” in a lawsuit by a fringe group challenging President Obama’s U.S. citizenship and constitutional right to be president.

Rep. Eric Swafford, a Republican from Pikeville, used his official Tennessee House of Representatives stationery as a “consent form” agreeing to be one of the plaintiffs in a purported legal action to obtain “original birth certificate, immigration records, passports and other vital records for Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama,” the letter said.

Obama’s citizenship became a point of discussion, mostly on far-right Internet blogs and forums, when he emerged as a serious presidential candidate more than a year ago -- and dismissed as baseless by legitimate organizations. But some fringe groups have continued pursuing the matter, claiming that Obama is constitutionally ineligible for the presidency.

The U.S. Supreme Court in December refused to hear an appeal of a lawsuit filed by a New Jersey man, and during the campaign last year, the Obama campaign posted on one of its Web sites a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate.

But one of the groups is touting on its Web site that Swafford is the first elected official to join its action and posted the “consent form” he sent under his legislative letterhead dated Feb. 9.

Swafford, 35, a conservative in his third term in the legislature, could not be reached immediately for comment, but Democratic colleagues said today the letter is an embarrassment to the state.

“What is the mentality of these kinds of people that continuously make these kinds of goofy statements?” said Rep. Larry Miller, D-Memphis. “It’s embarrassing. We’re the joke of the nation, and they continue to make us the joke of the nation.

“It makes you want to not even go up and serve in the House with them,” Miller said

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Mike Turner said he asked Swafford on the House floor today to see his birth certificate.

Well they make our argument. Produce the BC and be done with it, come on OB show me I am wrong. I am a lady and I will concede when you prove you have the right to be the president.

"Far right"? Dissmised as baseless by "legitimate organisations?" "'s"? ONE organization, working FOR Obama. Hardly "legitimate". Obama did NOT post a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate. That's exactly what we all want him to produce.

Is there any doubt that media is "owned"? They avoid the FACTS of the matter like the plague.

This is like playing poker, and the guy takes all the chips, yet refuses to show his last card.

My analogy is the underground smoldering fire burning buried tires for years until one day is suddenly breaks above ground as a roaring fire and can't be extinguished.

Don’t you just love being “fringe”?

A step up from being called a "Birther"?

...As long as it's above tinfoil.

I figured I would adopt the Birther title like Lesbians did “Dyke” and blacks did “N*gger”. Same reason, to not make it a dirty word anymore.

Wait, that didn’t work did it?

Never mind. One step above tinfoil it is!

I was going to make a bad joke about how BHO’s mother is laughing in her grave over the successful fraud committed by her dear Barry — but then I read that there is some possibility that she is still alive and well.

Are all 238,000 people that have signed the WND petition demanding to see his original Birth Certificate to be regarded as “Fringe”.

That’s more people than were at his nomination rally. So are THEY “FRINGE” too?

You'll be laughing out of the other side of your posterior if they turn out to be right. If they are proven wrong, then you can laugh.

So don't.

When do we hit the big red 2A “RESET” button?

Just as with the founding generation. When they come for our arms.

People tend to forget that their had been "formal" fighting, with a Continental Army and all, for well over a year *before* the Declaration of Independence was penned. But despite a lot of grievences, such as taxation without representation, the shooting didn't start until General Gage sent his regulars out to Concord to confiscate the colonials arms.

Reading that about General Gage literally made my hair stand on end.
I hadn’t thought about that in a long time. Yes indeed...

Orly Taitz is a horrible attorney. What were these reps thinking signing on with her when there are so many other competent attorneys out there?

I do love the hysteria of the liberals though. They’re actually running around the congress asking Tennesseeians for their birth certificates. Such wise-ass nonsense should get them impeached for failure to know their own Constitution. They act like Olbermannites. They think making a joke about this is going to get them off the hook and Obama off the hook to fork over the proof he was qualified, which he can’t of course, because he’s a fraud and a fake the liberals puppeteered into office.

I also might mention how it was ok when the libs tore into McCain’s birth records. That was ok, right? Now it’s being done to them and they call foul? Such hypocrites.

I’m gonna laugh when Obama gets tossed into jail and out of the White House for being the fraud everyone knows he is.

They’re only laughing because they are afraid. If they don’t try to make the Constitution sound ridiculous, *gasp*, someone may actually be in big trouble. Like Obama.

"Obama’s citizenship became a point of discussion, mostly on far-right Internet blogs and forums..... and dismissed as baseless by legitimate organizations. It was Ed Hale, the DEMOCRAT loon that was one of the first to air it on radio when the "far-right" refused, like Rush, Malkin, Gingrich. And you know why the those of the far-right refused to make it an issue? Little-known secret here. All 3 of those "far-right" republicans were pushing for Bobby Jindal in 2012, who they knew was also not a natural born citizen. Nope, this isn't a partisan issue at all. This is a Constitutional issue, even though the dems are making it look silly. Oh and here's another fact. Donofrio intended originally to vote for Obama, so what does that tell you? Few of these people like crazy Ed or Leo were "right wing" at all.

If these reps have any sense in their heads, they’ll hire a GOOD group of constitutional lawyers and push Orly out of the way. This idiot doesn’t even know how to serve a subpoena properly.

She posts confidential emails on the internet which is against the law (see privacy acts, especially with an attorney). She hands emails over to other people without the sender’s permission.

I’m telling you, this woman doesn’t know her ass from her elbow. If they’re going to win this, they need to get her out of the way!

I’m gonna laugh when Obama gets tossed into jail and out of the White House for being the fraud everyone knows he is.

I hope you've got something else to make you laugh, because otherwise you're going to have a very humor-bereft existence.

NWIH will The ONE be deposed because of a mere triviality like being Kenyan-born.

One way or another, they'll finesse it. They'll either say that there's an "implied" statute of limitations, and any action should have been brought before he was elected (or before he was nominated), or, they'll say it doesn't apply, because the "original intent" was to prevent non-natural-born citizens from being elected -- but, that's moot now, since there's no prohibition on him "serving" once he has been elected, or, they'll say that "natural-born" is subject to interpretation, and his years of service to this country prove that he is beyond shadow of doubt the kind of exlemplary citizen that embodies the "concept" of "natural-born" -- or, they'll simply refuse to hear the argument, dropping hints about the country not being able to endure a season of rioting and insurrection the likes of which would make "The Rodney King Riots" seem like "The Summer of Love."

Really now? And where in the law or the constitution do you find this statute of limitations as to eligibility? I seem to read that it states, "If the president fails to qualify" and it doesn't give a timeframe. Show me where the documents or laws even say what you're claiming?

It doesn't matter if he's Kenyan-born. That would make it all that much worse in the cover up. What matters is all the Secretaries of States have said it wasn't their job to qualify Obama (even though Constitutionally, the framers did make it their job, and the Electors subsequent job and then the Congress' job). All 3 failed in their duty as everyone of them has claimed it wasn't their responsibility.

And now, we're supposed to believe that it's FACTCHECK.ORG's responsibility. How much of a joke is it that this country now decides the eligibility of a president based on a friggin website! Do you have any idea the absurdity of this? Do you have any idea how laughable it is that a Hawaii official only says, "Yes, I saw the one in the vault." and then refuses to make any claims or verifications about it?

Or how about today where Obama's lawyers are now threatening to sue attorneys who have issued a subpoena for Obama's Occidental college records to show that he didn't receive foreign funds for educational purposes. Obama actually is trying to BLOCK anyone from seeing those records. They're not asking to see his grades, his disciplinary record or anything other than how he paid for it and he won't even do that, much less be as transparent as he claims and fork the damn BC documents.

No, he can't do that. Well I have news for you. This isn't going away. He is hiding and he's not natural born. They are going to find out and then a whole lot of people are going to be up on criminal fraud charges and in jail. It is YOU who say that natural born is up for interpretation. I have proof that according to the framers, it's not. It's history and we found it. Go find yourself some historians and let them educate you because you're obviously very illiterate.
