But I’d rather you be an ass with me than kick your defenseless dog.

Thanks for a valid link.

I read the whole think. Stylistically, this isn't the way Sarah talks when she is on her own. It has "McCain handlers" written all over it like the Katie Coric interview.

FWIW, I'm not in favor of mass deportations either. From what I've seen, read and observed, there are probably up to 1 out of 3 illegals who would make good citizens. They came in with the tide because it was far less complicated and time consuming than going through the legal process once they saw how unserious we were about border enforcement.

My opinion is that we could get up to 2/3rds of them to self-deport by attrition: cut off the magnets that bring them here in the first place, especially access to public assistance, subsidized housing, taxpayer financed medical care and the like. Those caught engaging in criminal activity, including phony documents, driving without insurance and the like would get a fast track to deportation. Those who got exploited for sub-minimum wages, job related injuries and the like would be assisted to sue their employers, who would be fined, forced to pay up and have the money placed in escrow which the illegals could collect in installments only when they appeared in person at the U.S. Embassy or Counsulate in their country of origin.

This would leave a much smaller and more manageable pool of those eligible for earned amnesty on a point system similar to what most sane first world countries use to determine immigration eligibility.

Switzerland, for instance, has 20% of their workforce filled by immigrants. Those who stay on and wish to earn Swiss citizenship must be approved by the Swiss communities where they live in addition to clearing certain other hurdles to prove they will not become a ward of the state.

I agree, but that suggests that Palin may be corruptible. Her former handler Nicolle Wallace seems to flip her ideology from day to day, sometimes praising Obama, sometimes mildly criticizing him.

IMO, if they are such good candidates for resident status and citizenship, they should earn their right to be here legally, like 99.9% of the people who live on continents separated from us by oceans. Mexico already has huge quotas favoring its citizens. I think an amnesty for 1/3 of them is still unfair to the rest of the world, and in fact to US citizens.

Also, I don't welcome the prospect of 10 million (with more to come via chain migration) new Dem (or worse) voters.

McCain did carry Catholics who attend Mass frequently. The problem is American Catholics are growing more secular. Unforunately, they identify more with Ted Kennedy than Rick Santorum.

McCain only carried Catholics who attend mass regularly by about 52%, a win but far from an impressive one. Agree with the rest of your post.

All this ranting is but irrelevant drivel. What America needs is a conservative leader that will stand up on the trail and verbally destroy Obama et al.

What is lacking is dynamic leadership, nor wonky theory

Your narrow minded subservience to minor ideological debating points is why the conservative movement lies wrecked and burning.

Someday it could be your child, or you, in that bed, and it won't seem like a minor ideological debating point.

Chest pounders and mob leaders jump in...

Anyone else ever notice how the chest beaters and mob leaders become the MOMENTUM of the Democrat Party but the chest beaters and mob leaders on the right are left to rot? The more insane the person on the left, the more their message gets amplified. The more SANE an idea is from the grassroots right and the more the grassroots right tries to get it amplified, the more they are shouted down.

IMHO, the Democrat Party fully embraces the loons, but the Republican Party wants to run away from well-thought out reforms as fast as they can!

Oh, I believe that Jeb doesn't want to be President. He has someone else in mind....

The Bush family destroyed the Republican party. That's what happens when you screw your base.

When the spawn gets in, it will be on a handouts platform....handouts to "his people", as he put it.

There is a way to exert ‘Clout’ as Conservatives... Moving away from the Republican Party would be my choice — but it seems the majority of Conservatives do not want to do that (I say ‘seems’ ‘cause I don’t know for sure)...

Anyway - stay / go with the Republican Party or go elsewhere - we can still have big time CLOUT regardles.

How? Organize at the Voter Level as a Voting Block — that is ‘stiff arm the RNC when necessary and stiff arm the Liberal/Leftist Dems (of course). Solicit the assistance of what few Conservatives there are in the Democrat Party -— then Coordinate - the BLOCK Vote of Conservative votes - at the Citizen / Voter level. Grass Roots Conservatism

I am not speaking of Politician Lead Conservative Organizations — I am speaking of Conservative Voter/Citizen organized, lead, orchestrated support or the withholding of votes and support.

As you know, regardless what a politician claims - most/many Republican Political ‘leaders’ IGNORE Conservative voters — just look at the actions of the Bush Administration in recent years and at McCain’s silly liberalism - look at the RINO’s in the current Senate — what do you see?

We have few elected leaders - who think, act and do like real Conservatives...

So - let’s organize at the Conservative Voter level — NO POLITICIANS ALLOWED — just Citizen / Voters - who VOTE as a BLOCK — or WHO WITHHOLD votes as a BLOCK -

It is or could be a HUGE Number of votes you know... this HUGE number of Conservative Vote - could - if coordinated - MAKE OR BREAK major issues.

Just some thoughts...

ICC..
