Over the last eight years, when the MSM was engaged in one, long Chimpy-Bush-Hitler-Darth Vader of a sneer, do you recall any liberal media member writing to complain of the coarsening of dialogue? Neither do I.
But now that Barack Obama is occupying the White House, David Denby of the New Yorker has written Snark. Suddenly, its a shame were so sarcastic. Denby appeared on Tavis Smileys PBS show last night to lament the decline of civility. But the only politicians he cited as victims of over-the-top snarkiness were Democrats: Barack Obama, Hillary and Al Gore.
At one point, it seemed as if Smiley was seeking to bring some balance, decrying the way Dick Cheney was constantly portrayed as Darth Vader. But as it turned out, Smiley could care less about insulting the former veep that way. His concern was only that by repeatedly mocking him, some sympathy might be inadvertently elicited from the American public. But even that was too much for Denby, who said he couldnt be friends with someone who wouldnt mock the former VP over the shooting incident. A chastened Smiley acknowledged touché.

Snarkiness double-standard ping to Today show list.
The writer has my sympathies. Life is short, and wasting previous minutes of it watching these two middlebrow poseurs is a luxury I don’t have.
David Denby on Tavis Smiley on PBS late at night—watch out Test Pattern, you’ve got competition!
These hypocrite liberals can eat soup from my toilet! Oh, almost forgot GLGB, thank you for taking your meds.
As the author of the original article, I appreciate the sympathy, but as my tag line indicates, watching the MSM is what I do, so my fellow conservatives don’t have to. Normally I draw the line at PBS, but made an exception last night and recorded Bill Moyers, Smiley and Charlie Rose. Of course there was not one conservative guest on any of the shows.
I get my with a little help from my friends—and a daily Prilosec.
Bravo! Bravo!
It will be a cold day in hell before I ever let up on the moonbats. It funny how I am constantly reminding these dumbasses just who has been in charge of the congress for the past two years.Just plain stupid damn people.
Just pure hypocrisy from these folks once again because they sure were not above being “snarky” when there perceived opponent was in power.
Thanks for taking one for the team!
Could he be friends with someone who would mock the senior senator from Massachusetts over an unfortunate driving incident?
I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than driving with Teddy Kennedy.
Eat all you want, boys - Obama'll make more! MMMMMMM-good!
BTW, Bush and Cheney suck!
Tell 'em it's Obama's toilet, and they'll clean it for you, too! Though it might be a little rough on the porcelain...
If Ive learned anything from the last eight years it is that all is fair in Love, War, and Politics. Liberals established the precedence of preemptive -hate, so now they must live with it.
Cheney's admirers couldn't care less, either, because we considered it a compliment. Liberals just don't get it, because they're quivering wimps who feel inferior around any man with gumption.
Smiley is a "douché"
Test Pattern? Somebody's showing their age.
Don’t touch that dial!
“It’s ten o’clock. Where are you children?”
