Rod Blagojevich's brother asked Roland Burris for up to $10,000 in campaign donations before Burris was appointed to the U.S. Senate by then-Gov. Blagojevich of Illinois, a Burris spokesman told FOX News.

Sen. Burris didn't make the donation but failed to disclose the request under oath before an Illinois House impeachment panel.

Now state House Republicans say they want Burris investigated for perjury.

The Chicago Sun-Times first reported on its web site Saturday that Burris made the disclosure in a new affidavit sent to the head of the state committee that recommmended Blagojevich be removed from office.

According to the nwespaper, the affidavit is dated Feb. 5 -- three weeks after Burris was sworn in to fill President Obama's former Senate seat.

Burris says he sent the affidavit to Illinois House majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie when he realized his testimony before the committee wasn't complete.

Uh-huh. And Global Warming ate my homework.

I'm suuuuure that since its now been released that Patrick Fitzgerald has him ON TAPE talking with Blago's brother about said '$10,000 campaign donations' had nothing to do with this 'realization' by Burris. And not one phone call, but four separate times.

Federal Prisons are gonna get really crowded with IL pols.

“How did Burris even get the seat if he didn’t cough up the cash?”

I was wondering the same thing. And if Burris was appointed fraudulently, it’s too bad that his vote on the porkulus bill can’t be invalidated.

Am I the only one wondering what ‘Scooter Libby’ thinks about the Burris revelations?

Fitzmas didn’t have nearly so solid a case against Scooter...

I think he’s too dumb to realize he’s incriminated himself.

Based on his press conference today, he'd be lucky to know what the word meant. It was like watching a ten year old.

I really think he was surprised that the press did not simply buy the oily, illogical explanation in the statement crafted by his not-too bright lawyer/bouncer standing next to him. He just expected them to scribble it down, say, "Oh, okay," and scurry off to file their stories. End of issue, and he gets to go back to the life he earned and deserves and, dammit, paid for.

For the first couple of rounds, he stuck to the talking points but just couldn't help himself. He was tying himself in knots, dancing on the head of a pin in an impassioned mazurka as to how a conversation about the appointment is not the same as a conversation about the senate seat. It was hilarious and painful at the same time.

Favorite part was when the lawyer refused to answer a question, saying something to the effect of he couldn't answer at that time. Asked why that was, he snapped, "Because I said so."

Even some Dems in ILL. asked for a spec ial vote to replace Obama. Now the folks in ILL have another doofus to contend with for 6 years. This state has Durbin and Burris and the faux Messiah, what a trifecta. And the dolts keep electing these liberal Dems so they can be taxed and regulated. What geniuses.

I am impressed by your comments. Thank you for correcting my spelling, also. I knew it didn’t look right and was rushing. I especially like that you used the word ‘mazurka.’ I haven’t seen or heard that in a long time:)

Thanks. I wouldn’t know a mazurka from a samba. But it just popped into my head and the word had the right frenetic sound to it. So of course, your comment made me look it up (in case I’m ever on Jeopardy). So if the final question involves a mazurka, I’ll owe you.

Ahhhhh.... JEOPARDY. Smiling here, I rarely miss a night of it. Wouldn’t it be weird if ‘mazurka’ comes up as a question?

I used to know some some folk dancers, so fairly sure mazurka is one of those circle dances they do.... lots of fun, but I could never remember the patterns and would go the wrong way at the wrong time, etc.

Um, so, what would you owe me?:-)
