Us” meaning the GOP, of course. I appreciate his willingness to beat himself up in the name of regaining the public’s trust, but, er, is the man of Steele being perhaps a bit too self-deprecating here? Even Beck’s taken aback by the brutal candor of it (but in a good way!)

What have you done since Friday to cause us to trust you?
Boot the three Amigo Rino’s out of the caucus. Strip them of committee assignments and then maybe move their offices to Alexandria VA.

I am almost convinced that the Republican party is a dead duck. My view is lets all quit the party join the democrats and put our candidates in through them.

Can you imagine the Democrats faced with all those ex Republicans coming in and taking their party from them?

Michael...

You can start by running the place like a Corleone...

Make the 3 traitors an offer they can't refuse...

that offer is here $25 bucks and a Limo to DNC headquarters, leave defect and don't let the door hit you in the @$$.

It is time to purge these RINO &@$+@&rD$ once and for all...

There I feel better now...

Love the Lucy analogy!ha.

Steele is good. Articulate, able to get the message out.

In his statement is a clever hidden appeal to moderates...a way to turn around the old cliches of conservatives and Reps...its a great opening for “we are a NEW party, we are with the times, our values and issues DO have a place in these times!!!” there are many conservatives who just are not thrilled with the GOP..but could be a strong force.

Good for him!
You can't fix a problem if you do not acknowledge it's existence.

He might be just the man to slap some sense into the republicans who have been running amok the last eight years.

Here is a good place to start:

You are so right. They are all political elite.Their children will have all the right doors open to them regardless of membership in either party. We were sold a bill of goods with no other choices.I still say this is all by design moving us closer to third world status.Do I wish ill on these people? You bet and the sooner the better.

He's telling the truth -- the GOP squandered its political capital by becoming a party of soundbites and gotcha on the one hand, and a party of trying to avoid seeming "mean" on the other.

Priciples? Real leaders? An intellectually honest and coherent platform? Nope -- we gave them all up.

All we can do is wait and see if Steele is going to walk the walk of Conservatism.

Wait? WAIT FOR WHAT??? I've been waiting since 1989. How long does it take to send an email to the three turncoats in the Senate telling them to vote the party line on important, no....vital, legislation like the Porkulus Bill or find another Party to run for election in?

If Steele sanctions the three libtards in any way, I will drop dead of a heart attack. If he does nothing, then I will be proven right.

A good place to show he means business, would be to gather the TRUE CONSERVATIVES from the GOP Party....and there are a hand full, have them back him, stand united...and make an example from the 3 traitorous RINO'S that thumbed their noses at all the phone calls, faxes, letters from the public....and show them the way across the isle...and this time tell them they need to get out of the Republican Party...they are a disgrace...and it isn't as if this is the first time they've pulled the stunt of “reaching across the isle”....you know, bipartisanship is a fine thing, but you have to have some common sense when you do it...know WHO AND WHAT you're dealing with...there are times when you really need to grow a spine, call on one's principles and stand unified with one's party and constituents.

I was so proud of the band of Republicans in the House that stood united, not once, but twice when voting on that shameful bill...and no one is saying a bill of limited means shouldn't be available, but what kind of nonsense was pulled here...a pork payback...littered with all kinds of pet projects. I know that Hussein likes to say there is no pork in that thing. Well, to go back to the familiar saying...”you can put lipstick on a pig sir, it's still a pig” seems to fit the situation quite well.

By the way, there are a few more who maybe would be a more comfortable fit across the isle with the libs...I'm especially thinking of one man who has pulled the stunt of crossing over and voting with the leftie libs more times than I care to remember...and who, by the way, ran a lousy campaign last year.....I'm just sayin’....

I remember an old tv western with Chuck Connors. He was a traitor (supposedly, in this instance) and the Captain ripped off his insignia and marched him out of the fort at the beginning of every episode.

I would love to see this happen to the “Trio”. I, however, am not a politician. (Thank goodness.)

The ways of the politicians are somewhat insidious. Not usually a full on attack.

I think I'll just keep an eye on what happens to the Trio that may fly under the wire. They could well be punished and forced to put a “D” by their names in other ways that we may not be aware of. From a publicity angle, marching them out of the fort right after the cowardly deed is done might not be a good thing.

Michael Steele on Gun Control

Q: Your views on gun control?

A: My views are pretty much in line with the governor's. I grew up under some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. You can have all the gun control laws in the country, but if you don't enforce them, people are going to find a way to protect themselves. We need to recognize that bad people are doing bad things with these weapons. It's not the law-abiding citizens, it's not the person who uses it as a hobby.

Q: Should people have access to buy assault weapons?

A: Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you're going hunting? That's overkill. But I don't think that means you go to a total ban for those who want to use gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that But what's the point of passing gun laws if we're not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that's where you need to start. We've got 300 gun laws on the books right now. At the end of the day, it's about how we enforce the law.

The show was “Branded”. Chuck's character was innocent but the Army did not believe it so he was branded a traitor. Politicians and honor are two things that rarely meet. I hope what is done to them is not so secret it never sees the light of day. In any case Sphincter most likely will be out whining about it what ever it is!
