Iridium Communications Satellite Space Debris Falls From Texas Sky
Last Edited: Sunday, 15 Feb 2009, 9:42 PM CST Created On: Sunday, 15 Feb 2009, 3:19 PM CST
AUSTIN - FOX 7 has been receiving calls and e-mails from viewers that reported seeing a fireball falling from the sky at about 11 a.m. Sunday morning. An official from the Austin Fire Department said sightings have been reported from Austin to Fort Worth.
The debris is most likely from a February 10 collision between a Russian and U.S. satellite. The FAA would only say the debris could be related to the collision, but that they haven't been able to confirm it is.
Most of the debris is burning up in the atmosphere, but there have been reports of pieces landing across Texas.
NASA says debris could end up circling the Earth for years. The FAA did tell pilots to look out for possible debris on Saturday.

FAA and Stracom are in disagreement as to what it was.
FAA says it was satellite space junk. Stratcom says no...

My Birthday I was on FR at the time and told my Family what was going on they didn’t believe me until it came on the TV.
Now FR is a trusted source with my extended family.
Something I knew all along. :^))

The FAA did tell pilots to look out for possible debris on Saturday. I thought space debris de-orbits very fast. What is the pilot supposed to do?

Technically, the (former) satellite fell “into” the Texas skies, not “from” the Texas skies.

I was thinking the same thing. The part that bothers me this time is that the Military is not backing NASA’s version. Makes me wonder...

Ok so I got to thinking and made a lap around the tin foil hat brigade websites. Very quiet on this issue except for one members only site. They believe an Aurora broke up in transit across Texas and caused the debris OR the whole satellite collision thing was a fake and the goobermint took out a Chi-com space based nuke system. Your mileage may vary.

I believe this has been tied to an incident over Calgary, Alberta.ca, and a warning passed along by NORAD to Canadian authorities related to another incident not having to do with Cosmos-Iridium.
(Link HERE).
What is the pilot supposed to do?
Yes, it's ridiculous, the way the Midiots describe it, but the only real point is to determine where such debris might come down, by inference or by direct observation.

The only picture I saw was on the Fox page. I posted that on another thread. It shows to be a video, but I can’t get the link to work.

I’m glad to see that the lie that assumptions are now truth has hit the space news...
Since no one has recovered the object, no one can say if it’s debris from the collision, which happened at about 500 miles into space (And therefor most likely still in orbit), and just another meteor...
This is just 100% speculation.
