Christians are regarded as 'mad' by society

Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu: Christians are regarded as 'mad' by 7:22PM GMT 17 Feb 2009

Churchgoers are now "counter-cultural" because their values are so opposed to prevailing behaviour, claimed Dr Sentamu.

But he insisted that faith cannot be separated from the world of work, and that staff should not be expected to give up their religious convictions when they walk into the office.

His comments come amid growing concern about the marginalisation of Christianity in public life.

Labour MPs want to sever the historic link between Church and state, which would end the right of bishops to sit in the House of Lords and remove the right of all residents to be married, baptised or buried by a parish priest.

Meanwhile public sector workers now risk being sacked if they talk about religion in the workplace, under "equality and diversity" rules.

New NHS guidelines state that doctors and nurses face harassment charges if they are accused of "preaching" to colleagues or patients, while a draft code of practice for teachers could be used by schools to discipline those who discuss their beliefs with pupils.

Caroline Petrie, a community nurse who is a devout Baptist, was suspended without pay for two months after she offered to pray for an elderly patient.

Jennie Cain remains off work from her job as a primary school receptionist for sending a private email asking for spiritual support from her friends, after her five-year-old daughter was scolded for talking about Hell to another girl.

A Christian registrar lost her job for refusing to take part in civil partnership ceremonies while a relationship counsellor was sacked after he refused to give therapy to homosexual couples. Both have been unsuccessful in their claims for unfair dismissal.

To think and know it is actually the other way around. Thank God we had the bible to forewarn us of this flipping of realities.

What “society?” Without Christianity there would be no Western Civilization, THAT is society.

That’s the problem, though, isn’t it? Western Civilization.

Christians have always been considered foolish by non-believers. That's because the gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing.

That's okay though - we are supposed to be a peculiar people.

A true point, but the msm hack uses “Churchgoer” as s synonym for “Christian”, which is wrong

Glad you are discerning these days we are living in. There are so many here on FR who seem to think that we’re just in a cycle, or everthing will return to “normal” eventually.

This is true, and for good reason.

As Christians, we are not of this world.

“but Muslims are perfectly normal?”

it’s an interesting thing. they’ll accept any crazy behavior in people they perceive as “minorities” eg blacks raping 14 year old girls, strange behaviour from asians, whatever, “it’s their culture”, but when it’s someone like them, they have huge expectations of whatever they perceive as normity

II Thessalonians 2:3-4 NKJV
Let no one deceive you by any means, for that Day will not come unless the falling away, (apostasy-NASB), comes first, and the man of sin, (man of lawlessness - NASB), is revealed, the son of perdition, (son of destruction -NASB)
who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God”.

Exacty right!

1 Corinthians 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Scriptural prophesies are now almost being fulfilled on a daily basis these days. The Apostle Paul knew exactly what he was writing about.

And more from Paul's letters to the Corinthians, 2 Cor. 5:

11Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. 12We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. 13If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

This is a delicate topic with me as I was raised as a protestant, even baptised in a Methodist church. But something is going on here that’s beginning to resemble a groundswell of animosity not toward the Church per se but toward the moral tenets of the Christian faith that has guided this nation and other “Western “ nations for so long apart from actual rules or restrictions on affiliations or designation.

I have come to the point where it is untenable for me to prersonally accept the unscientific conclusion that there exists an all-powerful being that set in motion all there is or will be toward the acceptance that we are in this together only as circumstances brought us to this place in time.

Yet, it is impossible to avoid noticing that there is a terrible effort being made by forces whose numbers seem to grow daily targeting the one true tolerance of non-interference to the point where now only assimilation will serve.

I fear that submission is next and even though I can’t go back to that confident assurance I had as a child in a provident destiny, I fear even more that those who still take great comfort in their lifelong beliefs will have it torn from their bosoms, roots and all.

There’s going to be a lot of bloodletting before this conflict between militaristic hedonism and cautious responsibility ends.

Also think about this. Amish are the way they are because they don’t want to live in a modern world with modern conveniences. But then, when they decided that, kerosene and whatever inventions of the time (mid-1800) were the modern equivalent of what we have today and they use that as their base ... so in a way, isn’t that hypocritical???

Let me try again. Perhaps we really do not have sufficiently shared vocabulary.

I find it

INCREDIBLY HORRIFIC

as in . . . HORIFFIC TO THE MAX

as in . . . maximally horrific

as in . . . virtually beyond conventionally conceivable

as in . . . horrifically beyond reasonably normal reality

. . .

that in this “Christian” nation the Oligarchy was able to get us to this dreadful state in such a short time where

—so many even so-called “Christians” would vote in an illegible demonized imposter stooge of the Oligarchy hell-bent to rush in the overt global government and exterminate authentic Christians . . .

—so many Americans would be sooooooo brain dead about the MSM and other crucial realities and values . . .

—so many complicit Congress critters are so bought, threatened, gahgah brain-dead worshipful of the Oligarchy’s stooges and goals . . .

—so many even Conservative Freeper Christians are STILL sooooo out to lunch about the basic realities of this incredibly horrific state of affairs . . .

—so many even Conservative Freeper Christians are still ignorant of the statements of our leaders from 1900 on, ref’d in my tagline:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/2130557/posts?page=81#81

—so many even Conservative Freeper Christians still consider such FACTS to be “conspiracy theory” when there’s no theory to it. It’s been proven repeatedly in piles of documents and videos of the guilty in their own words and publications. Kissenger’s recent assertions about OThuga being the one to carry us into the NWO being merely the latest brazenness. Carter’s Brezenski and the Rockefellers have been candid enough about such for decades.

—so many poorly informed and out-right uninformed even FREEPERS still think that the Bible is lying and that we’ll be able to telephone, fax, march our way into some victorious awakening rescuing us from these horrific scheduled destructions & enslavements by the Oligarchy.

—That tooooooo many conservatives and “Christians” are tuning up the band for the final concert before the water reaches the saxaphones.

I believe God intends for our Republic to endure.

I believe He will also insure that we are severely disciplined for the failure of the even Authentic Christians to prevent such by prayers and righteous living and informed voting . . . by allowing infanticide, homosexual ‘marriage’ and ‘rights,’ . . . horrific corruption at high levels . . . abuses of power of huge proportions . . . and that’s just the past . . . not to mention what’s far worse and in the script and schedule.

. . .

I have come to the point where it is untenable for me to prersonally accept the unscientific conclusion that there exists an all-powerful being that set in motion all there is or will be toward the acceptance that we are in this together only as circumstances brought us to this place in time.

I think this belief comes from someone who grows in their philosophy without growing in their theology. When children grow up in the church, they are given an incomplete theology that is meant to be deepened as they get older. The problem is, that in many churches, this is never deepened. People come away as adults only remembering elementary Sunday school lessons about theology that glossed over the harsher realities about God's nature and the state of the spiritual realm deemed too complex or not fit for the under-10 crowd.

There’s going to be a lot of bloodletting before this conflict between militaristic hedonism and cautious responsibility ends.

It seems like Islam is going to be the one that takes over after the materialistic hedonists are done wrecking society. After all the effort spent on crushing Christianity, they will realize that Islam was the real threat all along. It is a good point that there is a strong irrational anti-Christian (and Jewish) vein in the so-called rationalist school of belief. And that vein is made even more stark by the welcoming acceptance other more hostile religions are given. Such an action does lead one to believe that there is something exclusively true about the Jewish and Christian religions.

That day means the day when Jesus’s return is imminent, the start of End Times.

Jesus told us that we would see the signs He gave us, similar to when the seasons change. He said we would be able to see the start of end times (which I think we are in). I also believe that Christians will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air.

The Tribulation will be horrible for those left on earth, like these deluded people.
