Nationalisation, long regarded in Washington as a folly of Europeans, is gaining rapid ground among US opinion-formers. Stranger still, many of those talking about federal ownership of banks are Republicans.

Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator for North Carolina, said that many of his colleagues, including John McCain, the defeated presidential candidate, agreed with his view that nationalisation of some banks should be “on the table”.

Barack Obama, the president, who has tried to avoid panicking lawmakers and markets by entertaining the idea, has recently moved more towards what he calls the “Swedish model” – an approach backed strongly by Mr Graham.

Personally, I'm moving towards this Swedish model:

Were did you get my picture....LOL.

Anyway, in response to the article. It is worse than I thought when Republicans agree that banks should be nationalized.

We are so screwed. Really send condoms to congress asking them to wear protection while they screw us.

Freddie & Fannie failed in some part due to political tinkering in lending rules. How much more will our banking sector be suseptible to this kind of stuff when we create these large banks taxpayer owned?

Nationalization of banking is a serious issues, one that scares me, and not to be mocked with stupid pictures like this.

The gaining strength of this nationalization is really having an impact on the Markets. Most of these pols are too stupid to grasp the connection.

If you read the article, the only "republican" they can find that backs this idiocy is drooling, lobotomized RHINO Sen Lindsey Graham. I was worried until I saw that it wasn't an ACTUAL conservative.

They no doubt called him to comment while he was in his office getting the air in his brain cavity recycled. You understand, it's like trying to get that beebee to roll into the little hole under the plastic...

Nice to see Graham and McCain reuniting their "beautiful friendship". (Knew their stand on the "Stimulus Bill" was an aberration.)

If he says that McQueeg supports it, then McQueeg probably does but is too scared to publicly say so, hence Lindsey's stunts are trial balloons.

It’s not idiocy. It’s in the plan to socialize the country. Credit in the hands of the federal government is one of the planks of the Communist Manifesto.
