From the U.S. Postal Service to the Executive Office of the President, thousands of federal workers have not paid their 2007 federal income taxes.

The Internal Revenue Service is trying to collect billions of dollars in unpaid taxes from nearly half a million federal employees. According to IRS records, 171,549 current federal workers did not voluntarily pay their federal income taxes in 2007. The same is true for 37,752 active duty military and nearly 200,000 retired civilian and military personnel.

There really is something laughable in this situation, if we could only find it....if we are ONE DAY LATE with ANY sort of tax, our small business is CALLED, MAILED, and CURSED at!! How these people are getting away with it is what I am interested in knowing, for even more than 30 days!!!

My favorite liberal defense of unconstitutional laws is

“well, we voted on it”.

Yeah, if we voted that rape was legal then you’d just have to put up with it until the next election I guess.

Don’t these Gov workers have taxes removed from their paychecks?

Okay, these are GOVERNMENT workers who owe INCOME TAX to the GOVERNMENT. Where’s any REAL MONEY involved?.........

The money they did not pay in taxes went into attending Obama rallies, cell phone bills to tell their friends how wonderful he is, etc etc!!!

Boy if you only knew how true this was. I was once in a federal office to take depositions (of fed. employees there) and there were people SLEEPING at their cubicles, I am not kidding, heads down on the desk next to the empty potato chip bag. I was actually concerned about one worker, and at my prompting, her supervisor went over to make sure she wasn’t dead!

Maybe they know something?

E-memo: Don’t pay your 2007 taxes. Pass it on.

there were people SLEEPING at their cubicles

One of my coworkers (now retired, thank goodness) used to nap out late in the day when she thought nobody could see. She'd lean back in her chair and kind of doze off.

I confess to deliberately knocking things over and slamming drawers just to see her jump. Another coworker told me he blew into a paper bag and then popped it to see if she'd fall out of her chair.

The woman was totally useless. Her retirment was a blessed event around here.

I just don't get this. Around 1992 I got behind on my taxes about $5000. Within 8 months the IRS was all over me like a cheap suit. They gave me about 1 week to come in and kiss their ass to set up a pay back plan before they attacked my assets.

Then again, I worked for myself so I was automatically considered a criminal.

I guess only the “chumps” pay taxes. Most postal workers are dems right? I wonder if any of them pay taxes...

I had a coworker who was hired with a strong resume and interview. The first day, he slept 3 out of 8 hours.... AND SNORED. (He was BIG).

So, after about a week, I say to my project manager, shouldn’t we do something about this? He told me they talked to him after his first day.

He boldly informed them that he was diagnosed with sleep apnea (sp?) and it would be a violation of the ADA to fire him or discipline him.

It’s also a violation to ask them during the interview if there are any medical issues that would impede their work.

G*d bless the USSA.

Just tell the IRS that all these tax evaders are a bunch of conservatives related to Rush Limbaugh, and they'll get to investigating it immediately.

Seriously, if you could break into DNC headquarters and fax or email a "press release" to the "MSM" that this was happening, and blame it on wealthy Republican tax protester infiltrators into the civil service system, they'd be investigated by the end of this week (it's Thursday). Of course, the 'Rats would be FURIOUS that you played such a dirty trick on so many of their voters.

To me it makes no sense without a comparison to the general public figures.

It appears to me as a hit on (2007) G.W.Bush Administration IMO to soften the perspective of the tax cheats of the Obama era. The ol’ “Well look at the amount of tax cheats during Bush” sort of crap.

I like to use this example:

The Government makes it’s money by taxing individuals.
It then pays its employees, say, $100 each.
Then it gets $33 back by taxing their employees, thus losing $67.
What does the government do?
Create more Government Jobs.

I know I am going to get blasted here, but, after hubby was out of work for 4 months, and looking for work in the private sector and finding nothing, he took a job at a VA hospital ( he does air conditioning and refrig). While I know that the govt sector tends to be bad overall, I am thankful that he has a job in this economy. He has always worked hard, served his country in the the army, and is a disabled vet who now gets to work to help other vets who served. Don’t forget that our military men and women are govt employees, and the govt does employ many former military service workers. They are no less hardworking now than they were when they served in the military.

Thankfully, there are many conservatives in government employ trying do right by the American taxpayer they serve, there are just not enough. Maybe if more conservatives did work for govt, some of these leeches would lose their ability to treat the govt as a welfare job. I know my hubby never forgets for a moment that every hour he is on the clock costs the taxpayers money BECAUSE he is a conservative.

All sectors of employment have good and bad. There are good teachers, good uaw workers, good union employees, as well as bad people in the private sector (corrupt ceo’s, madoff types, bad business owners, and micky d workers who spit in your food)

I am extremely grateful that he has any job in this enviroment, after our business failed, and we have never cheated on our taxes, ever. We have however decided for the first time not to hold back any exemptions and wait for a refund, as they may not be forthcoming. We would rather owe a few dollars and pay by april 15th than hope to get a refund.........

From the article...

......"The agency with the most delinquent employees is the U.S. Postal Service. With more than 747,000 employees, the postal service is the largest employer in the federal government, but with a 4.16 percent delinquency rate, it is a full 1 percent above the average compliance rate this year".........

The IRS is the only federal agency where an employee can be fired for not paying his taxes.

Unless he's the boss( AKA Secretary of the Treasury ) in which case he's appears to be exempt
