Bill Clinton: Obama Should Sound More Hopeful
ABC News ^ | Feb. 19, 2009 | TAHMAN BRADLEY

Former President Bill Clinton gives President Barack Obama an "A" grade for his first month in office, but tells ABC News that Obama needs to put on a more positive face when speaking to the American people about the economy and must keep pressure on Republicans who try to obstruct his plans.

"Look, the American people, I think, know the president has tried to reach out to Republicans," Clinton told ABC News' Chris Cuomo. "And it takes two to tango. I think there are some of them who really believe that just-say-no politics is good politics.

"It was -- briefly, only briefly -- in the '90s. It isn't anymore," he added. "So, sooner or later, I think if he just keeps chugging along, just keeps the door open, invite 'em to every economic conference, invite 'em to every meeting, eventually, he'll start getting some votes" in Congress.

In a notable early showdown over a $787 billion economic stimulus proposal, only three Republicans in the Senate and none in the House of Representatives voted for the Obama-endorsed bill.

Keep talking, creep. I'm sure it's going to help Obama a heckuvalot. I will say though that Bubba is right that the Republicans should be united in more than just voting "no". Republicans kicked Clinton's butt in '94 by demonstrating that they knew where to take the country and the POTUS didn't.

Gloom and doom is all the DemocRATS have to offer. Well, there’s death too.

Sound more hopeful, while sticking it in. The results are the same, though, we still get screwed.

“Hi. I’m Bill Clinton. I don’t have any official position in the Obama administration, but I’m here to tell the press that although he’s doing it all wrong, I can advise him how to do it right. For a small cut of the proceeds.”

["Former President Bill Clinton gives President Barack Obama an "A" grade for his first month in office"]

"A" for abysmal. At the rate the Dow has dropped since the election, it'll reach zero within five months.

I noticed the “hard hitting” interview was with Mario Cuomo’s son. When does Haley Barbour’s son, Trent Lott or Tom Delay’s kids get to “interview” political figures for major broadcast news shows?

Not since FDR has there been this much hope!

FDR: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

BHO: The thing we have to cheer is fear itself.

Don't forget taxes.

Democrats, the party of gloom, death, and taxes. That fairly well sums them up.

An “A” grade, huh? As one corrupt, venal, amoral, Leftist control freak to another. What a shocker.

The pubbies are in no position to do anything but wiat to see what cards come up. Individual pols, of course, should be speaking up and presenting alternatives, and waiting for an opening.

...I think if he just keeps chugging along, just keeps the door open, invite 'em to every economic conference, invite 'em to every meeting, eventually, he'll start getting some votes"

In other words, do what he has done for years... pretend to be bipartisan or post-partisan, pretend to reach across the aisle, and the whole time, vote hard left... practically Marxist left. Hypocrites, both of them.

They just want things like they were through most of the 20th century when the democrats routinely bulldozed the Republicans because the demos had the majority in both houses of congress.

And look at the wonderful, self-sustaining stuff we got...Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie, Freddie, AMTRAK, Social Security. Yeah, the demos sure have some ideas alright.

Just like DeMint has done with the anti-Fairness Doctrine bill. Let’s see Clinton call that a “no” vote!

What else is Clinton supposed to say. He’s his wife’s boss for cripes sake.

Yep, “bipartisanship” is Clinton’s special trick card. But between him and the current crop of Democrats, that card has been played too many times. Obama isn’t doing too well if he has to rely on this advice.
