Former President Bill Clinton gives President Barack Obama an "A" grade for his first month in office, but tells ABC News that Obama needs to put on a more positive face when speaking to the American people about the economy and must keep pressure on Republicans who try to obstruct his plans.
"Look, the American people, I think, know the president has tried to reach out to Republicans," Clinton told ABC News' Chris Cuomo. "And it takes two to tango. I think there are some of them who really believe that just-say-no politics is good politics.
"It was -- briefly, only briefly -- in the '90s. It isn't anymore," he added. "So, sooner or later, I think if he just keeps chugging along, just keeps the door open, invite 'em to every economic conference, invite 'em to every meeting, eventually, he'll start getting some votes" in Congress.
In a notable early showdown over a $787 billion economic stimulus proposal, only three Republicans in the Senate and none in the House of Representatives voted for the Obama-endorsed bill.

Gloom and doom is all the DemocRATS have to offer. Well, there’s death too.
Sound more hopeful, while sticking it in. The results are the same, though, we still get screwed.
“Hi. I’m Bill Clinton. I don’t have any official position in the Obama administration, but I’m here to tell the press that although he’s doing it all wrong, I can advise him how to do it right. For a small cut of the proceeds.”
"A" for abysmal. At the rate the Dow has dropped since the election, it'll reach zero within five months.
I noticed the “hard hitting” interview was with Mario Cuomo’s son. When does Haley Barbour’s son, Trent Lott or Tom Delay’s kids get to “interview” political figures for major broadcast news shows?
FDR: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
BHO: The thing we have to cheer is fear itself.
(Don't let it go to waste! Marxist revolution from the top down -- workers of the world! . . . .)
Can’t get a better endorsement than that! Hey Bill! Do you feel their pain?
Don't forget taxes.
Democrats, the party of gloom, death, and taxes. That fairly well sums them up.
An “A” grade, huh? As one corrupt, venal, amoral, Leftist control freak to another. What a shocker.
The pubbies are in no position to do anything but wiat to see what cards come up. Individual pols, of course, should be speaking up and presenting alternatives, and waiting for an opening.
I want my flying car!
In other words, do what he has done for years... pretend to be bipartisan or post-partisan, pretend to reach across the aisle, and the whole time, vote hard left... practically Marxist left. Hypocrites, both of them.
They just want things like they were through most of the 20th century when the democrats routinely bulldozed the Republicans because the demos had the majority in both houses of congress.
And look at the wonderful, self-sustaining stuff we got...Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie, Freddie, AMTRAK, Social Security. Yeah, the demos sure have some ideas alright.
When 0bummer speaks, stocks drop.
0bummer turns hope into fear.
Just like DeMint has done with the anti-Fairness Doctrine bill. Let’s see Clinton call that a “no” vote!
What else is Clinton supposed to say. He’s his wife’s boss for cripes sake.
Yep, “bipartisanship” is Clinton’s special trick card. But between him and the current crop of Democrats, that card has been played too many times. Obama isn’t doing too well if he has to rely on this advice.
A far cry from Roosevelt’s fireside chats.
Bill is just sorry he didn’t play the crisis card in his presidency. He coulda had his National Health Care and more.
Imagine, no need to ever debate anything out in the open - just declare an epic crisis and and have Pelosi and Reid shove legislation through with ANYTHING you want in it.
Wow! Slick's Trix to Zero...
Obama must own stock in pharmaceuticals, because he is doing a bangup job of causing mass depression. ;)
No one, from Left or Right, who tells Obama anything, should waste his breath further. Obama knows exactly what he is doing: proceeding with all possible haste with his plans to destroy the United States. I believe that Obama wants the U.S. to be such a hellhole that he intends to helicopter out and finish his days basking in the applause and adulation of a post-U.S. ruling elite—Brussels, perhaps, or someplace with better weather.
I wonder if the Clintons even understand what a thorough Bolshevik/Nihilist Obama is.
I love Mark Steyn’s description of such and interview—”So-and-so was the subject of an incisive tongue-bath in the Washington Post...”
Oh, but when Democrats obstructed Bush despite his attempts to put pressure on them, that was just good politics/sarc What a waste of skin this chump is.
President Scumbag gives President Fraud advise.
Obama is the ultimate anti-Reagan. Not only is he a redical socialist, in disposition, he’s the opposite of Reaganite optimism.
His attitude is “America is worthless without me.”
Ain’t no “sunrise in America” with this dude.
More like “Midnight in America.”
“I sure HOPE we ain’t goin into a Depression because I’m spending all the seed corn!”
That’s hope you can believe in.
Bill: STFU and go home and bake some cookies.
Everybody likes to be kissed before being....
The opening volley for the HILLARY! 2012 Campaign
What we haven’t heard (and probably never will hear) from Obama is a full-fledged defense of free-market capitalism. Now it’s one thing to say the country is a victim of “predatory lenders” and quite another thing to omit mentioning that these lenders (however wrong-headed the accusation is) are just minor blips in the whole scheme. It’s obvious that The Great Spreader doesn’t believe in a free-market economy. But he’s too cowardly to say so.
Whe will we ever be rid of this piece of excrement?
“The only thing to fear”....Is Obama’s army...and they’re at your door...
Somehow, I never got A's for class work listing items needing improvement. A little grade inflation here?
