No doubt there are a lot more details to come out about the murder of Kenzie Houk. Another youth, Jordan Brown, will be on trial for taking another human beings life. And a life yet to be born was taken with no chance of a future. And society, if it takes the time, will have to examine itself and ask how and why we are raising young kids to solve their problems with violence.

Juvenile justice in my mind is an oxymoron, and a liberal way of dealing with serious issues that need to be dealt with in the same way that adult crime is dealt with. Children are indeed capable of committing the same serious crimes that adults are capable of.
They need the same punishment. Perhaps not mixed with adult inmates but prison and or death for those so inclined to commit murder should not be waived because of age.
When someone commits murder, they are a proven danger to society. Anyone want to live in a house with an eleven year old who has committed this crime. They need to be put away where they cannot practice doing what they want without consequences.
I don’t disagree. But the article has a point, what are we as a society doing wrong that kids even think to do something like this. I don’t know the answer, but I suspect it has something to do with life being disposable in the parents eyes.
There are abortions on the one end and “heck they’re old, just let em go” on the other end. If it confuses me..what must it be doing to kids?
Thanks for the “don’t disagree”.
But the article has a point, what are we as a society doing wrong that kids even think to do something like this.
This is a glaring liberal point meant to push blame on someone other than the guilty party. Typical victim mentality it isn’t your fault, no fault crime.
As such, I must disagree with the article. It may be difficult to quantify conscience, nevertheless, everyone is born with or soon gathers that spirit of right vs wrong. For whatever reason those who don’t have it or choose to ignore it, are a danger to the society that believes in rule of law and doing unto others as you would be done unto.
Liberals always want to know and understand “why”. Frankly Scarlett, I don’t give a damn”. The crime is done, and no amount of understanding is going to change it. We won’t have any excuses when standing before the ultimate judge, neither should someone here facing judge and jury, regardless of age.
What’s done is done..murder is final. But, I would like to see the media start linking some of these horrific things kids are doing to the way we are raising them. Not only that, what affect do issues like legal abortion and letting Granny “go” ‘cause she’s old and not worth much any more, taking God out of school and having mommy work outside the home attribute to these horrific acts.
When I was growing up, I had both parents raising me. This kid didn’t. When I was growing up, it was unheard of to have a girlfriend, pregnant no less, move in with Daddy and child. It wasn’t done. My mom was stay at home.
The Internet, TV, movies and games all have violence all have Godless acts and no hint of repercussions or consequences.
Yes, there is that small part of each of us that knows right from wrong. Mine was certainly nurtured through love and discipline from my folks and grandparents.
No bleeding heart here wita..just concern for a generation that seems to be going down a very violent path. Locking up Jordan does not change the fact that there are many more out there waiting to do the same.
Oh, and liberals are not the only ones that want to know how and why. I am a conservative and hope I haven’t lost the need to at least wonder how and why a child can and does commit these kinds of crimes. I hope I don’t see the day I turn into an uncaring soul.
Off soap box which is rarely used by me.
I honestly think our culture has devalued life to a point that a lot of kids really don’t see murder as a big deal. Throw in the fact that many of them play “first-person shooter” video games fro hours at a time, killing people on-screen, and it[’s a recipe for this kind of thing.
Don't fall for this line. Events like this are exceedingly rare. In a nation of over three hundred million, how many times do you think a kid kills someone this way?
If it was "society's" fault we would be hearing about such things every day. We don't. It isn't "society" that's at fault.
Nothing can excuse this crime, but: if the facts were known, there is most likely a unique set of circumstances and personal issues that would make this murder at least more comprehensible.

Good point, and we don’t how much weight the Judge of the quick and dead is going to place on Dad for being such a sterling example. The boy may have seen the girlfriend as a real rival, which I’m sure she was.

Point taken. learning never ceases. It is just frustrating when learning takes a vacation, sort of like what we are seeing as failed solutions being reborn as the latest dem financial philosophy, speaking of soap boxes...
What a mean-spirited, sexist, homophobic, chauvinistic, stereotypical response from you.
What? Sounds like you want to turn back the clock to the days when women were exploited, mere sex objects.

Is it clear now? If if isn’t, let me be more clear. I am not the one you should be directing your comments too. furthermore, I would suggest that the type of comment you made should not be sent to anyone on this board if you want to be seen as anything but a rude inconsiderate boob. May I suggest a dialog or conversation, instead of the rude snappy comeback directed at the wrong person or any person you do not know inside and out.
Shall I start where pennsylvania does NOT lead the nation BUT the WORLD in locking up kids with a life sentence with NO parole?

Jordan is getting no justice here. No kid just does this. Something was going on it home, it wasn’t just this horrible superpredator child. There IS no such this as a child predator because after they had those theories and made those laws SCIENCE showed the truth about brain development and just how undeveloped the brain is.

Other thing- “Innocent” until PROVEN guilty right? Or did we forget that somewhere too?
