The guests at Sunday evening's black tie White House dinner for the nation's governors feasted on servings of Chesapeake crab agnolottis, wagyu beef, Nantucket scallops and huckleberry cobbler for dessert. But thanks to First Lady Michelle Obama, a bit more of the day-to-day eating habits of the new family living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave has been learned.
"There are some mean waffles and grits that are made in the morning that have become a regular staple for some of us," Obama said. But she didn't reveal exactly for who that breakfast pairing has become a morning favorite. Though she was quick to add that she's not the one who eats waffles every day

I may vomit! The woman who orders room service lobster and champagne at a fancy hotel eats waffles and grits? What a blatant pandering to the black electorate. Pretty soon the electorate won’t be able to afford the electricity to cook those waffles and grits.
I would think peanuts would be a favorite so that the media could fight each other over who got to pick them out of his $h!t

the WH must be getting a deal on Wagyu steak- they bask in that $100 a pound luxury item, don’t they. Is wagyu steak the new “green” favorite since they fished out all the chilly sea basses??
Most of us buying 85% lean hamburger- maybe they ought to serve it and give us some WH recipes
What a great movie. It was on yesterday. I have to go into a neighboring county today to argue a motion in front of a judge whom I’ve never met. Opposing counsel was literally born across the street from the courthouse. I was thinking about wearing cowboy boots but maybe that would be too much. I live in a suburbian county and this is a largely rural county.

Wagyu refers to several breeds of cattle genetically predisposed to intense marbling and to producing a high percentage of oleaginous unsaturated fat.
The meat from wagyu cattle is known worldwide for its marbling characteristics, increased eating quality through a naturally enhanced flavor, tenderness and juiciness, and thus a high market value.
Several areas in Japan are famous for the quality of their Wagyu cattle, and ship beef bearing their areas' names.
Some examples are Kobe, Mishima and Ohmi beef. The wagyu cattle's genetic predisposition yields a beef that contains a higher percentage of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids than typical beef.
The increased marbling also improves the ratio of monounsaturated fats to saturated fats.
You can't like both? I prefer crab to lobster myself, but that doesn't mean that I don't love Waffle House.

You must not be from the south. Grits are eaten by all sorts of persuasions here in the south and southwest. Well, I think the demarcation line for automatic serving of grits over hashbrowns as a breakfast side order is about Greenville, Tx. Of course, there is a gray line of about 100 miles each way, east/west where you may get one or the other or be asked for your preference. by the way, I have eaten a lot of breakfasts across this great country and have never seen grits served globbed in the middle of a waffle...

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Selma, AL. Auburn Graduate, too. Since I left the south, I've never eaten grits willingly. Michele grew up in relative affluence in Chicago. She never had to eat cracklin' grits when there was nothing else to eat like I did growing up.
Grits and turnip greens are a bad memory of my childhood and adolescence.
I thought Waffles was the code name for Gigolo John Kerry and that grits was the code name for Representative Clyburn.
