A Mahnomen County sheriff's deputy shot in the head last week "is continuing to make remarkable progress," one of his doctors said Monday. "He's doing very well."

Chris Dewey, 26, was moved out of the critical care unit of MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D., on Sunday and his condition was upgraded from guarded to fair, said Dr. Robert Sticca.

"He's well on his road to recovery," Sticca said.

"He's out of danger. ... He still has a long road ahead."

Dewey was shot in the head and abdomen Wednesday as he confronted two men while investigating a report of shots fired.

Thomas Lee Fairbanks and Daniel Kurt Vernier face charges in Mahnomen County District Court in the shooting.

Best wishes for a complete recovery. Too bad our uniformed protectors have to put up with scum like the ones that allegedly shot him.

Allegedly, for the sake of the legal proceedings......

Number 2 rolled over on number 1 and it appears that there might be a couple of eye-witnesses.....

These two are done, like a dinner.....
