The Rainbow Connection

Michael Steele is, if nothing else, the smartest man in the GOP.

Steele’s getting heat from progressives such as Andrew Sullivan and the operators of the popular pro-Democrat blog Think Progress for remarks he made during his February 23 appearance on Mike Gallagher’s program. The Salem Radio Network star asked Steele if the time had come for Republicans to “…consider some sort of alternative to redefining marriage and maybe in the road, down the road to civil unions. Do you favor civil unions?”

In a shrewd response, Steele said: “No, no no. What would we do that for? What are you, crazy? No. Why would we backslide on a core, founding value of this country? I mean this isn’t something that you just kind of like, ‘Oh well, today I feel, you know, loosey-goosey on marriage.’”

Think Progress accused Steele of hypocrisy, noting that in recent weeks he has suggested the party needs to be open to those who might have differing views on issues such as same-sex marriage and civil unions. What Think Progress doesn’t realize is that Steele is not actually contradicting himself.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it’s done so far.
What’s so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it’s probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it.
It’s something that I’m supposed to be.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Everything we need to know about the causation of the present lawless state can be discerned from the forewarning of this nation's first President:

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

--President George Washington's farewell address, 1796

True then, true now. And we can witness how true by the chaos and evil overwhelming everywhere.

I just read the whole article and it disgusts me. FEH!! It’s a “curl up and admit defeat now” article.

I’ve seen a lot of defeatism on FR lately. It sickens me. It’s being a passive traitor. It gives aid and comfort to the enemy. It saps the determination of others who are on the right side. I hate it.

Agreed. Our enemies know this. That's why they spend so much time here undercover spreading doom and gloom.

STEELE IS FOR DC STATEHOOD?!?!?!?!

I AM GOING TO TEAR ALL MY HAIR OUT!!!!!!

Why the HELL is such a miserable capon of a RINO the head of the RNC? It’s obvious now that the GOP is as much an enemy of conservativism as the Dems/marxists.

(Could you give a link? If you have a link, start a thread. People NEED TO KNOW THIS!)

Some of these defeatists are positively - happy? - about their defeatism. They’re - aggressive - about their defeatistm. It ain’t natural. They must be infiltrators. If someone is a real defeatist they wouldn’t hang out posting comments day after day about how there’s no hope and would should all just curl up and die. And that those of us who want to fight the marxist etc takeover are stupid, naive, wasting our time, etc. They are nasty people and I am very, very angry at them.

Actually their defeatism enrages me and reminds me of the skulking coward in “Saving Private Ryan”, who caused so much death due to his disgusting cowardice. Cowards are just as bad as traitors. If someone has no heart to fight (in whatever way they can, large or small) and just wants to hide and admit defeat, then DAMMIT - they should get the he!! out of the way and STFU!

(Sorry, I am really riled up today.)

I’ve got a call into Michael Steele’s office...they did NOT know his position....said they will call me back...we’ll see.....everything I find on the net says he DOES support it, but it’s on blogs....nothing official. I’m attending a dinner where he’ll be speaking in March....maybe I can question him then, too.

Thank you. This is horrible. If it is true there needs to be a thread. When they call you back, write a vanity. Everyone needs to know this.
