Live thread.
Why?
I noticed that, too. It’s also a bit jarring to hear that cadence/accent from someone that looks like that. It’s like when I see black guy in the UK talk with a british accent...takes a bit to get used to.
But it’s all good. I thought it was a fine speech. There’s really only so much you can do in a 10 minute or so response. It’s not exactly a huge platform.
Bobby's the real deal and I trust him.
sw
Since they listened to their own feed I can believe that. The audio feed from Fox sucked big time compared to CNN.
But honestly, when has the Fox people ever given a Republican high marks for speaking in recent years. Even when McCain did very well in his last debate they gave it to ZERO. Fox can take it and stuff it with this group.
Well, apparently 53% of the electorate are third graders. Otherwise, how could Dear Leader have been elected?
Actually, Jindal’s speech kinda reminded me of Kathleen Sebelius’s response to Bush’s last SOTU speech. Stiff and boring.
I know he was talking about Obama’s speech style, but we don’t need to compare it to Reagan’s style.
I would expect the Libs to highjack the “Reaganesque” connection.
Instead, Krout just pulled the car up to the intersection, opened the door, got out, and yelled, “Anybody want to drive this?”
Sarah Palin, at the AK state house, with GOP assemblymen screaming their heads off on her entry would have been EPIC. I can see it being too early to do that in 2009, but if we don’t do that by 2011 we are truly stupid.
I have admit there are racist people here who will not support Jindal cause of his race.. I know it is harsh, but that is the truth. They won’t say it but look for clues in the wording.
More like a pea shooter.
Is that ever true. Remember the media would try to portray Reagan as a doddering old fool, but his optimism was infectious despite their dastardly efforts.
Whoever posted upthread that people will remember Jindal’s optimism was absolutely right.
Yeah looks like a lot of the same people who hate Palin hate Jindal. Isn’t it funny how that happens.
Love Jindal. A true conservative. They guys on Fox thought he was terrible. He must have struck a nerve. He hurt their messiah with the truth.
McCain will also be on Fox & Friends tomorrow morning to gush over Barry’s speech.
maybe they can do as well as Obama v. McCain if they outspend him by 7-1.
Dirty Jock Strap maybe....
Overall, a very good response.
Strong is the right word. He’s a nice guy, obviously bright and optimistic, and Lord knows we need a lot of those qualities. He also seems to be a natural leader, one who speaks not only with honesty but with passion and commitment. I’m glad to say, I saw exactly that from Mr. Jindal tonight.
You cannot attack on a speech like this. Do some of you not understand politics 101. I understand that some of the sign-ups from 2007 haven’t been here that long but think — you never want to give your opponents the MSM something to hang their hat on that will come back to haunt day after day.
His optimism carried the day! He did go after spending big time and earmarks by the RATs. Don’t you understand this was not a speech to conservatives?
what would you like different?
_______________
He spent the first five minutes praising the usurper for being black. I’m so tired of this black shit. He’s half white, get the f over it. His speech sounded tentative and no passion, no anger and there should be. Which RFepublican can step up to the plate and say “We are mad, we aren’t going to take it anymore, we won’t become Communists”
You've got to be kidding. Palin is more upbeat, has a better personality, and delivers a far more effective speech. Her communication skills are vastly superior to Jindal's. There's no comparison. Jindal has a lot of work to do if he wants to catch up to Governor Palin.
I think a lot is the awful audio feed on FOX that cut in and out every few seconds. It really ruined the flow of the speech. Not that it was even a speech, really. I bet you can go back and look at the last 20 responses to State of the Unions and not one of them was really memorable or led to anything. Do you even remember who gave the responses to any of Bush’s speeches?
married 25 years, own our house outright, got a daughter who graduates in a couple months with high grades. Am 58 and will retire at 60. Not a bad life ---for a nerd.
Well, right now he’s talking about working with Bambi on health care.
He’s also admitting rushing into TARP.
What an idiot.
lol, really
Why??
Our rebuttal spokesman or theirs is not allowed to speak in the Chamber in front of supporters. That was the State versus Federal.
Good. More good conservatives the better communicating the message the better.
“Sorry but Jindal was horrible. Palin should have deli vered this. Looks like Palin and Romney are the only potential to compete oratorically with the Nothing , the Muslim/ Marxist Obama. there that’s better..
I don’t know about whether it was a great speech. The man spoke for me.
Thanks, Bobby. Good job.
There’s no comparison. Jindal has a lot of work to do if he wants to catch up to Governor Palin.

I agree. Turn Sarah loose on her own. Tell her no winking, no ass kissing, prove you really are Sarah Barracuda. There’s got to be a reason she terrifies the libs.
I disagree completely.
The media showed its true, nasty colors. Democrats hated her, and would have anyway.
Palin is still very much in the running. McCain is the sorry joke.
Hey the Bent one bombed at his keynote speech at the 1988 dim convention. It’s a bit early to be publishing Bobby’s political obituary.
Yep, Jindal’s never going to have thousands of people lining up from miles away for rallies all over the country.
Good point.
Kathleen Sebelius gave the last one. I only remember because it was terrible.
A bad national debut for Jindal. He could do much better. While campaigning for Governor, Jindal was sharp minded and had a command of the issues.
Our stars, Jindal, Palin, and Sanford, need more training on the national scene.
Next time perhaps we should let Romney response to the Messiah. I don’t really like Romney, but if the Messiah continues to be strong in the polls let Romney blow his personal wealth trying to take him down and save - Jindal, Palin, or Sanford - for 2016.
Maybe by then you would support the " O" over Palin? No canidate is going to be 100%, but Sarah would knock it out of the ballpark compared to the O who will destroy the entire ballpark!
That. Was. Terrible. Rush jinxed him with the whole “next Reagan” thing.
A little more passion, a few solid uppercuts to Obama’s jaw, and a good bit more conservatism. How about cutting the corporate tax rate to 10%. Eliminating Cap Gains taxes for two years. Redirecting the phony stimulus money to sorely needed defense projects. Rejection of growth killing global warming regulation. Forcing insolvent banks into bankruptcy and auctioning off their assets and awarding the strong banks who didn’t fiddle f**k away their wealth with derivatives.
Yeah, were so stupid.
Also liked how he brought his dad into it. Something the one has not done. Jindal said the right things and that is what matters. Fox played their game of his voice cutting in and out and then they trashed him. That’s OK he spoke the truth about people, not government being the answer.
C’mon, Jindal sounded like he was speaking to Romper Room and the Fox commentators called it as it was. I don’t know about you but I prefer being spoken to like an adult. This was a dreadful failure. They should have given this to Governor Palin or Governor Sanford.
I agree with you 100% — some of the comments on here are a bad joke. Lack of polical savvy as well.
We need every Jindal we can get. I admire him greatly. But we are in sore need of a alpha male to lead.
She better get her sh-t together and do some "book learnin'" or else she will get nowhere outside of Appalachia and Alaska.
Jindal gave a great speech. His Katrina story told everything you need to know about him and Conservatism. Great job.
Pray for America, Our Troops and Bobby
