Upstate Young Republicans host Greenville Tea Party.
Greenville, SC, 23 February 2009 The Upstate Young Republicans will host the Greenville Tea Party on the banks of the Reedy River and on the walking bridge just west of Main Street. Parking is available at the River Place garage. The demonstration is scheduled for Friday, February 27th at 6:00 PM and will last approximately one hour. The event is coinciding with numerous other Tea Parties being held nationwide in response to CNBC reporter Rick Santellis call for a Chicago Tea Party to protest the Obama Administrations mortgage bailout plan. The event is open to people of all ages and attendees are encouraged to bring non-offensive homemade signs.

Dang it...wish I could be there... :(
But one for the ping list, nonetheless.
Count me in! I’ll be there with my family. Can anyone help with some witty sign ideas? I’m not too clever in that department. I have a six year-old that can’t stand Obama either and would like him to have a sign as well that says something like “I’m only six, but already in debt.” Can anyone help me come up with something better though? Can’t wait to get a little bit off my chest!
Awesome, I may be able to make it to this!!
That’s a horrible time traffic-wise though lol
Your suggestion is great (I’m only six...)

So, at this “tea party”,
how do they propose to cost the oppressive government tax money by destroying a taxable product, enraging said government,
and getting away with it scott free...?
Im only six but and already in debt. Thanks Obama!
We’d love to come, but we’re 45 and 50, but we will bring our son who is 10.
Is that okay?
From the article..
“The event is open to people of all ages and attendees are encouraged to bring non-offensive homemade signs. “
"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."
Thomas Jefferson
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
Thomas Jefferson
"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
Thomas Jefferson
"Never spend your money before you have earned it."
Thomas Jefferson
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
Thomas Jefferson
I'm going to be out of town, I wish I could attend, post pics if you can!
Thanks... my son made the “I’m only six and already in debt” and I used “Bailout: Because “Screw the Taxpayers” Isn’t Politically Correct”. I liked that. Now to come up with something for 16 year-old stepdaughter and the hard-working husband. I’m all fired up about Friday! I hope there is a good turnout. I’ll try to get plenty of pics and post them on my MySpace at www.myspace.com/jackandjennifer afterwards. Anyone who wants can view them there.
Oh, and thanks to everyone for the ideas!
I’m only six and I would have to live 200 years to pay the debt I already owe.
Good sign! I wouldn’t change it unless you want to add something about HIS child being in debt before he’s/she’s even born.
Artsy Mom,
You rock and so does your home page. Please throw that *&*^% Obama tea in the stinking Reedy River.
Sign me,
Too far from G’ville and way over 40.
I emailed several people who I hope will attend. My bosses (husband and wife) will most likely go in fact we may print up some t-shirts for ourselves.
I’m thinking of a drawing of a toilet with the USA and a bunch of money going in it. Not sure of the caption though lol

Let’s GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!
So funny, I thought of doing the same thing until I did the other one. Love that idea!
HERE IS AN IDEA FOR YOUR SIGN:
Obama, we’re not drinking your tea or your koolaid!
See you there,
John

I hope there is no age limit, I’m 60 and plan to be there...I’m not dead yet!
I am new to the area. Which bridge? Is it the really big bridge that goes over the Reedy in the park? Also where is the River Place garage? (sorry, really want to be there, just don’t know my way around downtown yet)
Artsymom could probably help you there. She is more familiar with the area than me.
Hi All,
I am recruiting in my area, so far bring about 7 people. I will be there, ask everybody bring your neighbors.
Dave
Not until 0bama’s “cost effectiveness board” deems you to be not cost effective to receive medical care...
I am assuming that it is the other bridge on the other side of Main Street behind the Peace Center, not the new cable bridge. It shouldn’t be hard to find the crowd though... hopefully there is a crowd with the weather! Either way, we’ll probably park at the Richardson parking garage which is a good bit down from the Peace Center, but we always park there. I would try telling you how to get to the River Place garage, but we’ve only parked there once and I can’t remember how to get back there to it. Maybe someone else on here can help?
There is a link on this page that takes you to a map of downtown Greenville.

Photos are up that I took at the Greenville Tea Party. View them on my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/jackandjennifer. We had a great time and even had a few of you fellow Freepers come up. Nice to meet you! Sorry some of the pics are kind of dark or blurry. I just hope we do this again VERY VERY soon. I hope this isn’t a one time thing.
