When are people going to learn, hedonism breeds other bad behaviors? Duh. How DARE anyone bring their baby to a hedonistic event such as mardi gras? Ya sure don’t hear about stuff like this happening in Branson..... I’m just sayin.....

The true spirit of New Orleans obviously survived the Katrina disaster.

This can't be. Everyone in New Orleans knows that parade routes are GUN FREE ZONEs. It says in the rules that CHL people are not allowed to carry at parades.

On Mardi Gras Day, 2009, Louis Lazone (L), 18, escorted by Officer Andrew
Waldron, and Mark Brooks (R), 19, with Officer Carlos Amador, are taken into
Central Lock-Up after being arrested on seven counts of attempted first
degree murder following the shooting on St. Charles Avenue at Second Street
which left seven people, including a 20-month-old child, with gunshot wounds.

So it looks like some of the New Orleans transplants finally moved from Houston back to their hometown.

Well, that’s that for Mardi Gras. Just another milepost on the road to barbarism.

Someone will find a way to blame Phillies Phans since the first POS is wearing a Phillies jacket. JK!!!

Seriously though, it would appear to be gangs since they’re both wearing red jackets. Bloods???

Meanwhile, the rest of Mardi Gras pretty much went off without a problem.

BTW, most of the injured were grazed. Now I wouldn’t want to be even grazed, but that hardly constitutes “gunned down.”

Probably not Bloods. Most likely Gotti boys, but, usually they don’t wear colors. I’m sure a Freeper from that area has better info than I do.

What kind if irresponsible parent brings a toddler to Mardi Gras? No, wait, let me guess, the kind that votes for the zero.

I agree the Phillies share in some of the blame. The reddish color causes aggressive behavior in some animals.

I watched a show on the spread of gangs a while back and they had talkded about how the bloods and crips had spread their tentacles across the US. That’s the only connection I could make based on the jackets. Just assuming. I’m by no means an expert on that area or gangs for that matter.

Shocking, isn't it? My kids are in Indiana and that's still too close to Mardi Gras for my liking. :/

Yeah, me too, I watched a show where they talked about how brutal the Gotti boys were in keeping out the Bloods and Crips. It did show how Katrina affected the presence of the Gottis so maybe things have changed. Still, I guess it really doesn’t make a difference what colors gang-bangers wear, people still get hurt. I was at Mardi Gras years ago, it was bad then, no way I would go back.

I don't think the denizens of "Mogadishu on the Mississippi" even bother organizing into gangs. It's pretty much just a free-for-all when it comes to killing each other and whoever gets in the way.

My guess is it was a gang initiation. Shoot into the crowd and kill some people and you’re in.

Those jackets the perps are wearing probably cost $200 each or more. Bet there’s a cell phone in the pocket of both, too

How much you want to bet they don’t have $10 for a few gallons of bottled water, or $30 for a bus ticket, when the next hurricane hits?

Go to YouTube and look up New Orleans gangs and you will see these animals rappin and “talking smack” about how cool they are. We should start treating these pigs as terrorists.

“We should start treating these pigs as terrorists.”

I totally agree. Mandatory doubling of prison sentence on top of conviction if the perp is a gangbanger.

And you can also bet those non-income-earning SOBs are first in line for some of Obamies taxpayer funded handouts too.

Took my family to Branson two years ago, it was great.
I’ve spent time in NOLA too, pre-Katrina, and once was right after a Madi Gras...some man was still partying with invisible people listening to his radio....noone there but him and the music, sad.

NO story from the late 70s.

The police were searching through a neighborhood looking for a gunman in dark clothes, when they spotted a guy crawling our from under a house. He had dark clothes and something metal in his hand.Turns out the guy was a plumber. So, at Mardi Gras that year there was a t-shirt for sale with "Don't Shoot, I'm a Plumber!" on it.
