“If it can’t reduce expenses dramatically within the next few weeks, the Hearst Corp. said it will close or sell the Chronicle, northern California’s largest newspaper with a paid weekday circulation of 339,430.’
They’re all twittering up there now...

Along with the Chronicle story, today's WSJ also reports Marvel Entertainment, publisher of comic books, saw its net more than double over last year's income.
Does anyone see the obvious solution here ?
To: rabscuttle385
Yeah, I’m all tore up about this.

Is it bad to want to cheer?
To: rabscuttle385
Not to worry Freepers. The “Stimulus” package //sarcasm off// will bail out all the propaganda tools of the obama Bolsheviks.

You think the Chron should make movies?? “Pulled from the headlines films?”
Marvel (or was it DC?) took out a billion dollar loan to make films. They bet the company on those films! They were Spiderman, X-Men and Fantastic Four.
I think they won their bet. They had mortgaged the whole company and if they had flopped it’d been history

One of the most horrid newspapers on the face of the earth. No sorrow here.
To: GeronL
The Chronicle could save its own life by printing full page color cartoons.

Along with the Chronicle story, today's WSJ also reports Marvel Entertainment, publisher of comic books, saw its net more than double over last year's income. Does anyone see the obvious solution here ?They should start making big-budget movies about the Chronicle? I don't think that'll work.
To: GeronL
They bet the company on those films! They were Spiderman, X-Men and Fantastic Four. Two out of three is a whole lot better than you'll do in Vegas. Of course, then they parlayed that into two more X-Men films, two more Spiderman films, Ironman, and the much-awaited Watchmen.

Agree. Why should they be surprised that their decades-long campaign against capitalism, commercial forest use, private property, and fairness in the media would come back to bite them where it hurts? It’s like the Minneapolis paper suing its printer union. Doesn’t the business office communicate with the editorial office?

Or the soviet style propaganda pix of Obama. Page after page.
