Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said today that he has no doubts about President Obamas citizenship and that a news account from a town hall meeting last weekend that suggested he did was erroneous.
Shelby, in a brief interview with POLITICO after he appeared at the White House, dismissed a report in the Cullman (Ala.) Times in which he was captured as indulging a constituents question about whether the president was born on American soil, a widely debunked rumor held over from the presidential campaign.
Someone asked me that in a meeting and basically what I did is paraphrase, you know just quote for the crowd, what they said and I said that has been settled, Shelby recounted today, calling his remark distorted.
In the Cullman Times, Shelby was quoted as saying: Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I havent seen any birth certificate. You have to be born in America to be president.
Shelbys staff quickly said the paper had offered an incomplete account of the senators remarks. No video or audio tape has emerged from the meeting.
Shelby, who as the senior Republican on the Senate Banking Committee was appearing with Obama and other members of Congress to discuss financial regulation, made clear that he believed the president was a citizen.
[I] never had any doubts, he said. I didnt raise the doubt. They raised it in a meeting.
Shelby, who was captured on television Tuesday night chatting with Obama before his address to Congress, said he had not addressed the issue with the president.
No, he didnt bring it up. He wouldnt dignify it.
I wish I could get a government job like this. Nobody doubts me, no vetting process, and no proof. Sounds like hope and change is where it’s at. If Obama had to get a TSC, he wouldn’t make it to the interview.
They got to him.
Implying that everyone who disagrees with you about Obama’s citizenship is either a traitor-to-the-cause or somehow corrupt is going eventually put you in the 9/11 truthers category.
What Tribune7 is giving us here is a perfect example of Saul Alikski’s Rule # 5.
Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal...
Is that enough Mr. President??? No?
Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal...
Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal, Backpedal...
How about NOW?
Darn it!!!
I left the butt-smooching sound-effects out of my post!!
Please provide your own.
Thank you.
Based on what evidence?
Still, wouldn't you have to say that Shelby's "standard of proof" is on the low side, given the available information?
“widely debunked rumor”
Says who?
Hmm. I didn’t think the question was about citizenship at all. After all, Arnie is a citizen. Sounds like the Senatuh is mixing the issue to avoid having to answer it.
Senator, if what you say is true, please answer these simple questions:
1. If this has been “debunked,” why won’t Obama spend the ten bucks to produce his real birth certificate for the world to see?
2. If this has been “settled,” pray tell exactly what hospital he was born in, and the Doctor’s name that delivered him into this world.
Can anyone name me a more useless creature to liberty than a Republican United States Senator?
There’s also this:
“neurological linguistic control offensive is directed at sweeping all resident notions from the victims mind and psyche, and replacing them with slides , or the politically correct notions that the control manipulators seek to impose”
*9-11 truthers, tin foilers, conspiracy nuts, would be *slides* (conversation stoppers)

What AJMCQ is giving us here is a perfect example of how to marginalize oneself. Saul Alinsky would look at you like a hungry dog would look at a pork chop.
Good point.
Only a democrat United States Senator.
But even THAT is debateable, since no one with a sound mind really EXPECTS a democrat Semator to be on the side of liberty.
Just when you thought there might be a Republican with a backbone.
