Israel Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman advocates the establishment of a Palestinian state, he wrote in an article published in the New York Jewish Week.
Lieberman wrote on Wednesday that while he wants "the state of Israel to remain a Zionist, Jewish and democratic state," he supported the "creation of a viable Palestinian state." Lieberman said he was trying to shake off labels such as "far-right" and "ultra-nationalist" thrown in his direction.
The party leader said he welcomed the "contribution of minorities to Israel's flourishing" and did not expect Israeli-Arabs "to share in the Zionist dream," but asked them to accept Israel as a Jewish state.
Lieberman insisted that his party "has no objection to the nonviolent expression of opinion," but condemned what he called "violent speech that forms a clear and present danger," quoting Sakhnin's mayor, who during Operation Cast Lead called on Gazans to "block [IDF soldiers] with your blood in order to build the state of Palestine, whose capital is Jerusalem."
Lieberman expressed desire to work with US President Barack Obama in the next government. "I look forward to working with President Obama. I know that US-Israel relations are as strong as ever, and that our shared values and interests make our friendship unshakable," he wrote.
I support a Palestinian state, too. On Mars.
Palestinian birth control is a bomb strapped to a ten year old.
I guess that leaves no mystery about where I am at on the subject...
There is a Palestinian fundraiser coming up. The Rachel Corrie pancake breakfast. I don’t know where they are selling tickets.
No Palestinian state. Let Israel become one big happy democratic family from the Nile to the Euphrates.
Can someone explain to me why this A-Hole Lieberman was at the Repub. convention last year?
And why your at it, why was Arnold there also?
My baby brother and my niece voted for Likud -- not Liberman's Israel Bitenue -- because they were not fooled.
WTH?? I thought that was the last thing this guy wanted! Another shuck and jive talking politician?!?!? If so, that is the last thing Israel needs with the situation it faces.
Wrong Lieberman, You’re thinking of Joe the Senator, this is Avigdor the Bouncer.
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
He wants to transfer Arabs/Muslims out of Israel. He believes in order for Israel to be safe the populations must be separated.
He has not specified where they should go. Jordan would do fine for me.
Ah, OK! I was wondering there for a minute! I thought he’d changed and was all for the usual “palestinian” (i.e., terrorist) state.
Trans-Jordan is the Arab 'Palestinian state' in 2009 and has been since 1948.
