Thanks for bringing that to our attention Mojito. That was very nice. I’ll have to admit to being somewhat of a candidate to become addicted to that type of endeavor. I love looking at stuff like that. This guy has done a very nice job.

He certainly gave very specific instructions about the container that held the tables of the covenant, though. Didn’t He?

4,000? Unreal.

When God ordains something He usually wants it done in a very particular way.

God was very particular about how He was to be approached. There are chapters and chapters of instructions about the exact details of the Tabernacle and the later Temple, and how they were to be built. Also rules and rules about sacrifices, and how they were to be done, down to what the priests were to wear, clean/unclean rules, etc. Why? He says because He is holy. You don’t just go up to Him as though He is just anybody.

Now we approach him through Christ.

Thanks, mojito. This is a true labor of love.

It also shows how massive the Temple complex was.

And why the Pharisees scoffed when Jesus predicted that one day, not one stone of what they were looking out would remain atop another.

In 70 AD, the Romans destroyed this complex and left not one stone atop another of this structure.

“Each one takes about three hours to make and there are 32 versions of Jesus, although no one can ever spot him no matter how religious they are”

Modern visitors should not feel too bad, even the Romans couldn’t spot him...

I wonder why he did Herod’s temple and not Solomon’s . . . .

I think we only have a hazy idea what Solomon's temple looked like. Some historians argue that it was more like a family chapel than a temple as we understand it. Herod's Temple was much larger and was a major pilgrimage site as well as tourist attraction and was well known in the ancient world.

This is one cool post. Great pictures too, although I have to take issue with the caption on the last one -

The Temple was probably located on the site of what today is the Dome of the Rock

Utter ridiculousness, using the word probably. To write the caption as such puts the author on the same level as silly revisionist Islamics who think that they can just say it never existed, destroy archeological evidence and be taken seriously by people who aren't fed the Arabian version of 1984.

I don’t know. A handful of people here make it sound like the man was crazy. The scope and attention to detail in the model are unusual, but I don’t see how it is crazy. Imagine if you took every moment most males spend on sports and focused it into building this model. Would it really seem so obsessive? Or the time that most females spend on their appearances or keeping up with “fashion”. Over the course of thirty years, it just doesn’t seem all that bad. Rather, it seems like a much more constructive way to spend one’s down time than is the norm.
