LOS ALAMITOS - Some say the decision by the city's mayor to step down after the widely publicized uproar over an e-mail he sent depicting a watermelon patch in front of the White House shows he is taking the impact of his action seriously.
Others say the resignation was the only option for someone who offended so many.
"It was a flagrant disregard for basic civility and a demonstrated lack of knowledge about how painful the issue of race has been for our nation," said Fred Smoller, associate professor of Political Science at Chapman University.

Watermelon photos are now a capital offense! Do not offend your new affirmative action overlords! Do not offend Lord 0bammy!
He resigned for that after everything the left did against Bush and his family?
Before joining Trend Offset Printing in 2002, Keyanus spent 10 years working for the President and CEO of a Fortune 500 marketing company. At Trend, Keyanus is responsible for corporate functions inside and outside of Trend, including company community service and administrative duties for the Corporate Executive Team. >>>>>>> My comment is she is racist for straightening her hair and imitating white hair styles. Plus I would be on a permanent low boil too if my mother named me anus as in Keyanus. She must have been teased mercilessly in school
I would have responded to the uproar by selling t-shirts with even more offensive photos on them.
He should have resigned for being a dumbass.
Green on the outside ... Red on the inside.
Quite fitting.
Great national protest,
Everyone should send watermelons to the white house.
Perfect!!
...resign yes....apologise no.....never apologise to a black person because they say they’re “offended”
Uranus Price said work is her passion and is especially grateful to work for a company so involved in giving to the community. ........
How many times have you heard some pea brain saying he/she is “passionate” about something?
there, um, seems to be an ...”unidentified package” in that picture.
“it’s a man, baby”
I guess that was not what Eric Holder meant when he asked for more talk about race...
But seriously, are the many Bush = Chimp jokes already forgotten? Were they less offensive because they weren’t about race? But then, one doesn’t expect such jokes from a politician. It was a silly thing to do, but isn’t the ensuing brouhaha way out of line? He “offended many”? “Horrified”? I take it that the offensive picture was part of a private email that was leaked. Whites had to suffer much more snubbing from the “post-racial” president, officially and not in an obscure email, already and nobody speaks up. Why shouldn’t the electorate decide whether Grose is fit for the job or not, next time he comes up for election?
He should have just named the local sewage treatment plant after The One instead.
“Conservative businesswoman”?
I guess she goes by Nikki usually?
So much for free speech.
“Comedian” Chris Rock wrote in his book Rock This! that, should OJ ever be proved to be innocent of Nicole’s murder, that Nicole’s bereaved mother and sister should be forced to “F%*k” OJ by way of apology to him.
I’m waiting for him to be drummed out of show business for that. Imagine if a white comedian said that James Byrd’s mother and sister should f#*k his accused killers if they were found innocent, or Corretta Scott King having to f#*k James Earl Ray if Ray was found innocent.
“Oh, but that’s different”, the P.C. eunuchs will say.
Like hell it is.
A watermelon patch??!!! HAHAHAHAHA.
Hell, just wait til the junk cars start piling up beside the satellite dish out past the basketball goal!!!!!!!!!!!
Watermelon is the correct term for the radical environmentalist; green on the outside, red to the core!
Whoa, moral equivalency much? OJ killed his ex in a domestic dispute, not because of her race. I understand the sentiment, but you used some bad examples of equivalency.
