I was just curious. And I see that it is the same "resistance" that have had their butts handed to them for the better part of the last two or three decades. The same "resistance" that is treated like the red-headed step child by their own "leaders" in Washington.
pffffft...It's time for the "resistance" to grow some balls and make something of themselves. A true resistance is only going to work if we start within the resistance itself, and weed out the traitors. Only then will we represent a REAL resistance.
He is mostly right, not 100%.

That may be true, I'm not sure. Sometimes I wish he would be quiet, like when he said McNabb was getting more credit than he deserved because he was black. He could have said he thought McNabb was overrated and left it at that. Such a comment will raise ratings but won't get converts "outside the choir."
So he raised some fees to get rid of the State’s debt. Commuters do use the roads, btw. I would like a guy like him to carve an intelligent plan to curb our national debt and give us a stronger dollar. I also know that he would fight hard for domestic drilling for oil, which would put even more money in our pockets. Once we clear a good portion of the national debt and begin a sensible long-term sustained effort to erase it, our economy would go through the roof. Too many fools out there who would rather not vote and let someone like Obama have control of this intricate problem.
Despite all Romney brings to the table, Romney never really stood up for himself and informed the public on what’s really going on. He is out of touch, in the sense that he doesn’t realize how much influence conspiracy theorists and rightwingnut sophists have in the GOP. I hope he’s learned his lesson and won’t throw any more money at his pathetic attempts to get elected as POTUS. I voted for him, btw, but he is not able to get through to enough conservatives, even though he is right on most of the issues. This whole Romney debate is post defeat. He’s never going to win it. This straw poll is humbug.

I had a 30 gig which we thought got stolen when our house was broken into over the summer. I got a new 120 gig model and a month after I got it when I was cleaning up the garage I found it in a box of junk my wife had packed when she went on one of her periodic cleanings of my office. I gave the old one to my daughter. My IPOD has about 8,100 songs and another 5,400 podcasts (mostly old time radio shows like X-1, Box 13, Johnny Dollar, Inner Sanctum, Jack Benny, George and Gracie, etc). I’ve got about 3 gigs free. That’s why I want to get rid of the stuff that doesn’t belong.
My wife watched both speeches today when I was out with the dogs and she prefered Newt’s speech.
People ridicule Ron Paul, but he wants to abolish IRS and the Federal Reserve.
Some years ago, when we lived in So. Calif, we were in an area where we got both L.A. and San Diego PBS channels. I tuned in a university program, "Money." These 3 young people talked about banking system but never came right out that the Fed is not federal. In fact, they looked chagrined, stumbling.
That made me start questioning, why do we have to pay interest to ourselves? Only when we retired to Arizona did we learn the truth from a neighbor.
So, that's why I wanted a computer - taught myself. Unfortunately, now I'm tired of learning all of this new technology.

Three decades? Since 1979, we’ve won 5 of 8 Presidential elections, and we controlled Congress from 1994-2006. And, as Democrats go, Bill Clinton was on the conservative side (he was comparable ideologically to Nixon — particularly after we took Congress). Barack Obama is the first truly liberal President we’ve had since 1980 (with the possible exception of Clinton’s first two years).
We had the most conservative President in 50 years (Reagan), and no true conservative has lost a Presidential election since 1979. We’ve seen the media monopoly crumble with the emergence of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, conservative talk radio, and the Fox News Channel. We’ve seen the nomination and confirmation of Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, John Roberts and Samuel Alito, to create what will likely be (with Kennedy) a longstanding conservative majority on the Court.
With regards to policy — we’ve seen several substantial tax cuts in that time, welfare reform, Court recognition of the 2nd Amendment, and until recently, the economy has thrived. We crushed Soviet Communism, saved Kuwait, liberated Iraq, and are making headway in Afghanistan. We’ve got Al Quiada on the run and haven’t seen any domestic terrorism in 8 years.
There may have been some failures over the last 30 years ... but there has also been a LOT of success for the Republican/conservative resistance over that time.

We’ve never been a top-down movement. This resistance starts from the bottom-up.
Right now, our current “leaders” are less important than discovering our future leaders. Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor, Mark Samford, etc. will be those leaders — until then, Rush is king. In addition, with the exception of several worthless Senators, I was very impressed with Republicans in Congress and the Senate for standing up to the “stimulus”.

We got lazy in our success since 1980, and we stopped fighting the ground war — we stopped selling conservatism. But, we’ve started up again. The Republican resistance, however futile, to the stimulus was the first step. We have overcome these odds before. We will again.

We have, since William F. Buckley’s National Review started in the 50’s, always represented a real resistance. Don’t believe me? Ask Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, and John Kerry. Ask Bill Clinton, whose agenda was stifled by Newt Gingrich and the “Contract w/ America”, and who was impeached because of our resistance. Ask the “moveon” goofballs that fly into a tizzy everytime Rush Limbaugh opens his mouth.
This isn’t a bright time for conservatives, I am fully aware. But, this isn’t much different than it was in 1976 when Carter was elected, or in the first two years of the Clinton Administration. Democrats controlled all. But, in 1980, we had Morning in America ... and in 1994, we seized agenda control back from Bill.
Morning in America will come again.

ITunes Podcast section has tons of old time radio shows that you can download and listen to for free. You don’t need an IPOD to listen to them either.
I used to listen to KNX between 9:00-10:00 every day (repeated at 2:00-3:00 a.m) to their Drama hour which included Inner Sanctum. They took it off the air to maintain an all news format. I talked to the programing director and he told me that it was their most popular show and people listened for the entire hour not a few minutes but it wasn’t the direction they were going. They have brought back a lot of the other non news shows but not the Drama Hour (demographics skew old I guess.) That’s why my IPOD is loaded with these shows.
I have 72 episodes of Inner Sanctum alone on my IPOD. I liked the show and the announcer Raymond who is the model for the Crypt Keeper from the TV show Tales from the Crypt.
I also have The Creaking Door, Mysterious Traveler, Lights Out, The Haunting Hour, Horror Stories Presents, Escape (brought to you by Roma Wines), Weird Circle, Night Beat Gunsmoke (80 episodes), Have Gun Will Travel (36 episodes), X-1 (185 episodes) and lots more in all areas of old time radio except the soaps and quiz shows.
And '12? I don't see much hope considering the current makeup of the potential "leaders". Palin would be my choice, but she was smeared too much by the "LEADERSHIP" OF HER OWN PARTY! Jindal is a decent enough man, but he better work on his charisma if he wants to beat out O.
Some on this board measure their conservatism by how pessimistic and cynical they are. It is a continual race to the bottom to see who can be the most bitter and angry.
I choose not to participate.

You know, it has nothing to do with cynicism or pessimism. If that were the case, I would have left the Republican party a long time ago. Instead, it's more about the fact that I love my country, and I want my party back. And the only way that is going to happen is to stand up and make my intentions completely clear.
In all reality, the Republican party has lost its way. We have not come together and stood strong the way we should since Reagan. The so-called leadership in the GOP, from Chairman Steele to the House & Senate leadership has failed us overall, and it's time to say enough is enough.
I agree with the concept of a Republican resistance. But I also believe that we have a LOT of work to do. And it's going to start within the party, at a real grassroots, localized level.
Today, Hannity said that 2010 is going to be the moment of truth for the Republicans in the House & Senate. In truth, we have had our moment of truth, and it started in 1994. Gingrich led the resistance, and did well, for the most part. Unfortunately, since then the Republican party has been focused on getting re-elected, not doing what is best for the country. In fact, it could be argued that the Republicans never really fulfilled their contract with America.
Since then, we have been given opportunity after opportunity to make it happen. 2000 - '06 was a VERY crucial moment, and one which I worked very hard for. But again, it was pissed away in the name of bipartisanship. Do you really think the liberal socialists care about bipartisanship? If so, I have some chilling news for you. THEY DON'T. As Rush said at CPAC the other night, bipartisanship for the socialists means simple, we own you. I reject that.
The time has come. It's now or never, and it's only going to happen if we, the Republican membership, stand and fight. It's going to get ugly. It's going to mean going against the traitors within the party. In any event, it is time. If we truly love our country, and want it to live on as we know it, it is time for us to make a stand.
The only question is, are there enough of us truly willing to do so?
I think radio was wonderful for kids' imaginations. I liked "Let's Pretend" on Saturday mornings. On Sunday, Mayor LaGuardia read the comics over the radio.
I just bought a used 1999 iMac for $100. My technician said they are far better than the new ones. There goes my vow to stop learning new stuff.
I walk with my dog every day and listen when I walk and I’m retired. It’s also a way of preserving it for later and giving choice. Besides I have a terabyte drive for long term storage and 2 250 Gigabyte drives and a 30 gig drive at home in addition to the 120 gig IPOD and my wife’s 60 gig IPOD.
I have an Atrai 800, Atari 126 and three PC’s in the garage that all work, but I probably should get rid of the PC’s. The Atari 800 ran a Naval Reserve unit when I was the Admin officer and XO years ago.
