Limbaugh the Leader? Obama Chief of Staff Calls Talk Show Host a Barrier to Progress
FoxNews ^ | March 1, 2009 | FoxNews

President Obama's chief of staff said conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and suggested that Limbaugh's desire for the president's policies to fail is the uniform position of the GOP.

Chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said Limbaugh is the "intellectual force" of the GOP and Republicans now have to live with that choice.

"He is the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party. And he has been up front about what he views, and hasn't stepped back from that, which is he hopes for failure. He said it. And I compliment him for his honesty, but that's their philosophy that is enunciated by Rush Limbaugh. And I think that's the wrong philosophy for America," Emanuel said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

On Saturday, Limbaugh gave an hour-and-a-half speech to cap off the three-day Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. Limbaugh said it's fine for Republicans to criticize Obama's plans and Republicans must return to their core philosophies.

He added that Obama's plan won't restore prosperity and that's why he wants it to fail.

Apparently, Obama is Tinkerbell.

You see, at the end of the play “Peter Pan”, the audience is encouraged to say “I do believe in fairies.” in order to bring Tinkerbell back to life at the climax of the play. They used this line in the latest Peter Pan movie as well.

Well, I guess that it isn’t enough that Obama is the President. He cannot succeed, it seems, unless people believe — really believe — in him.

Hence, Obama is Tinkerbell. Perhaps, if we don’t believe in him, he will go away.

I hope Obama’s policies fail — and for the same reasons stated by Rush yesterday.

ALWAYS marginalize those who challenge your authority and power. Attack the individual and destroy. Watch for stunning new revelations about Rush Limbaugh and (fill in the blank).

Why, pray tell, can't the REPUBLICANS EVER figure this out? Remember when we controlled the White House and both houses of Congress? No? Neither do I! Nothing happened!

The biggest thing about Limbaugh is that he is no DC politician.

The socialists know that the DC GOP cares only about retaining their elected positions in DC and that means NOT ROCKING THE BOAT.

The DC GOP "Leadership" is DISGUSTING.

“Once again, they fail to understand that Rush reflects and articulates OUR views and values, not give us orders on what to believe.
-They wanna take on Rush? They’ve got MILLIONS of us after him as well.”

BINGO! You hit the nail on the head.

This is Rules for Radicals rule #13: pick a target, personalize it, polarize it.

Straight out of the Alinsky playbook.

This is an unprecedented strategy by the president of the USA to attack a private citizen.

How can any report speak with Emanuel without asking in depth questions about his ethical problems?

Why is Rahm Emmanual attacking Limbaugh? I think there are two reasons: 1. He wants to split the Republican party, "divide and conquer" motto has worked very well for the Dems, when Republicans/conservatives are divided and are fighting amongst themselves, the DEMS WIN. 2. I think Obama IS actually afraid that Rush' message will resonate and there will be a united opposition to Obama's socialist policies.

I'm not sure why he's doing it, but it's guaranteed to increase Rush's audience which is good for conservatism in the long run.

Liberals are afraid to debate Rush. If Emanuel thinks Rush's philosophy is the wrong one for America, all he has to do is say he will get on Rush's show and offer to debate it on the merits. Liberals cannot do that because liberalism cannot win in the arena of ideas - it cannot win in the free market.

I agree 110%! I hope and pray Limbaugh is a barrier, and an iron one at that.

How short a jump is it from “barrier to progress” to “enemy of the state?”

Progress is good; the state is for progress; Obama is for the state.

Rush wants Obama to fail; Obama is for progress; failure is the enemy of progress; Rush is against the state.

Fire up the ovens.

“The rule was once never go to war with a man that buys ink by the barrel. The corollary is never dis a man with 3 hours a day on 650 radio stations and 20 million listeners”

Brilliant, bert! If you’ll allow me, I’ll add to that. Not only does Rush have his 3 hours a day, but I still cannot get over the fact that THREE NETWORKS carried his entire speech last night live without commercials!!! Sweet!

Truth is the first casualty of war.

Obama and his fellow communists are making war on everything that made America great.

Labeling someone an "obstacle to progress" usually means that person sees through your bulls--t and has been effective in stopping your agenda (or you fear he will be effective)!

You are SO RIGHT, Jeff.

This huge bru-ha-ha against Rush Limbaugh is a direct effort to marginalize him and hopefully turn fence sitters away from him completely.

There is probably a very good reason for this...and my guess is that this reason is as follows:

Just like democrats are afraid of Sarah Palin (for very good reason) and Bobby Jindal (again, for very solid reasons), they are PETRIFIED of Rush because as unhappiness grows across this nation, more and more may turn to him to hear his opinions and amazingly, Rush nails down the facts/truth of the dirtbag democrats plans--THE END GAME, as it were. And he does this in a way that makes the democrat socialist freaks scared because he clarifies their goals in a way that the average American can understand (with the exception of Rio Linda folks, of course :^).

Apparently Rush has the ability to unset their commie apple cart and they are determined to shut him up, at all costs.... even to the point of having the folks who work in our WH degrade Rush with name calling. It is beyond pathetic.

We have genuine children running the show in DC now, power crazed nuts who have the depth of a puddle and the maturity of a bitch in heat.

Barrier to Progress

Those pesky rights of dissent and free speech are getting in the way of the messiah's agenda. They might have to do something about that.
