"We need to send a message to Congress and the president that we want them to take the actions that are needed to preserve climate for young people and future generations and all life on the planet," says Hansen, who has likened coal-fired power plants to "factories of death" and claims he was muzzled by the Bush administration when he warned of drastic climate changes.

I'm also thinking a call to civil disobedience is against the law but they seem to have their ducks in a row.
Just on that note, suggest the Tea Party crowd take a look at their protest guidelines at the web site. Nothing like free research to build on?

Hansed is a flaming nutcase
This misinformer should have been fired yesterday.
They’re all going to get in their SUV’s and go to the demonstration!!
Planet earth is billions of years old. I don’t think we can or will destroy it. We just don’t have that kind of power. What a moron kook.
Preserve climate??? Now there’s a goal.
I wonder how much C02 a rocket booster produces?
How is it remotely legal for a federal employee to do this?
...with a taxpayer paid paycheck, representing what we send to washington (Tax dollars) has been virtually wasted away on drugs.
I think all Libtards have a God Complex
yeterday i saw the bottom of someones footboot. it’s anarchy i tells ya
It’s the Climate-Staying-The-Same branch of the Climate Change movement.

Isnt it snowing in Alabama today?
If that is true, then he must agree that volcanoes are much much worse. I propose he try and stop them first-preferably by hurling himself into one by means of protest.
This is a claim that he's been repeating in many of the hundreds of interviews in which he participated during the Bush administration. A bit ironic, no?
Hmmm... A dingus scientist who rejects the idea that Carbon is at the core of all life on earth and declared coal-fired power plants “factories of death”
Hansen should be muzzled by the men in the long white lab coats.
I guess climate change is all the rage now since Gorbal Warming is out of vogue. If you would have said 15 years ago you were trying to stop climate change, you would have been locked in a hospital and sedated.
I wish Obama would order all coal fired power plants to shut down for one week, no exceptions. He could use the bogus stimulous money to restart them. In the meantime a**holes like this NASA guy can go fish for the week. I would bet this type of action would squelch most of the attempts to stop global warming, especially those directed at the power plants.
You Know? I have known more than one PHD that didn’t have a lick of sense.
Rumor has it that Algore stopped there for a cup of coffee on the way to Atlanta (Where they're having Thunder Snowstorms today).
Bless his heart...
How come the ‘rats couldn’t get enough of General Peter Pace’s butt when he spoke out on an issue of particular concern to him, but this NASA flaming liberal can go to protests and advance his pet peeve? We wouldn’t have any sort of double standard, perchance?

A much simpler solution (that banks everywhere might even like) is to declare all Federal Paychecks (except SS of course we already paid for that) Null and Void. Save billions, if not trillions. Then after the paychecks stop for a while all the ex-gov’t bureaucrats would have to actually go out and find productive employment...within a few years, voila, the economy is back on solid footing.
Perish the thought! Dims are all sweetness and light! L0L
It wouldn't take years. Maybe three months for two reasons. The bureaucrats would have to find a job. Then the politicians in Congress would not have anybody to kiss up to them and so they would not know how to pass any more spending bills because they do not know how to type or read or print or anything necessary to handle all the paperwork to get a bill passed.
Good idea. I like it.
A government employee using his job title/position to further a political cause that includes civil disobedience...
And why exactly is he still employed? OH>>> RIGHT>>>> The liberal kooks are in charge.
And what right does he have to a job involving science when his own beliefs are based on extremely flawed and faked “science”?
He needs to be among the unemployed... now.

It snowed for another hour after this picture, stopped, then snowed a bit more a couple hours later. Would have had a lot more accumulation, if it weren't 33 degrees when this picture was taken. Had been 50 earlier in the day.
Total was about 1 inch before it finally quit. All gone now.
I have been telling folks that we got an inch of global warming last night...
I would go for requiring Reps and Senators to not have a staff... Make them hand-write any bill they want to introduce (or type). Make them actually read cover-to-cover every single bill up for a vote.
Watch the number of bills (and the complexity) go way down! Further, those idiots like Barney Frank don’t apparently function above a 4th grade level (or mentality) anyway - so the “average Joe” should actually be able to understand the law!
Here’s hoping he’s successful and gets the Washington D.C. power plant shut down. If we are going to go back to the stone age, let it start in D.C.

He should be kept in a rubber room where he can pass the day weaving baskets and making clay bunnies.
First of all, obedience to the rule of law than to the rule of man is what creates civility, by this foundational understanding alone, it should be obvious that civil-disobedience is an oxymoronic concept; what it truly is remains a show of force with the threat of riotous disorder implied.
I truly believe that Dr. Hansen is unhinged.
... and many will return to homes heated by the power from coal plants. Why don't they protest by shutting off their electrical power to their homes?
“How is it remotely legal for a federal employee to do this?”
Maybe not in violation. Depends on his class of service and if this is considered a political organization...it is vague

It has snowed hard around Atlanta for most of today, and the snow is still falling.
Sigh... I got no snow in Tx this year.
Time to cue Napolean XIV.

If only.

So how about Hansen endorsing Kerry? How about taking money from Kerry's wife and Geo. Soros?
This guy is wrong, dishonest, evil, and should receive zero dollars and/or credibility from the the government. His pet, Gavin, should go with him.
Hansen doesn't seem to be involved in any of that.
I think the joke's on him though. We are having something like 9 or 10 inches of snow tonight and he's going to be out there standing in it shouting at a coal fired power plant.
I must have a picture of that.
I’m sure if there is a picture of the protest agianst global warming in the snow someone outside the mainstream will have to take it and publish it.
Riiight. Like we haven't seen his ugly mug just about everywhere preaching doom and gloom.
