As I was finishing up David Denbys new book, I received, as one does in the Internet age, the news that T-Shirt Hell, the company whose contribution to the last election was the Retarded Babies for Palin T-shirt, has decided to throw in the towel. The owner says he cant take the stupidity anymore. No, not the stupidity of his T-shirt slogans, but of the hate mail he receives.
Youd think he might have anticipated that a nanosecond after the Muse descended to deliver the Retarded Babies thigh-slapper. But no, it wasnt the hate mail over the Palin shirt but a more recent offering: Its Not Gay If You Beat Them Up Afterwards. The proprietor feels he shouldnt have to explain the irony or the social commentary of the slogan because anyone with half a brain should be able to handle that on their own.

A possibiity for the Steyn list.
Ah, those "pro-family, pro-choice" humanist liberals, spreading their love!
Good God, Steyn deserves a medal for getting through an entire book of this. A whining lib droning on for 144 pages about how other people are snarky? That's a special kind of hell.
I had not quite thought of it that way. I know, I basically ignor the MSMediots.
When the NYTimes, etc became liars, I tuned them out. That is why I found it amusing that Tucker Carlson who I hear is or was on some lefty tv channel was trying to tell CPAC, ie people who know better, that the NY Times tries to do good journalism.
While I liked the typical Steyn turn of phrases in this, I thought it was much a waste of his intellect and wit to review a book by some nobody with nothing to say that I had never hear of.
Hell, I’ll happily delete all the hate mail from the humorless morons trying to silence everything they disagree with by invoking the ever-expanding label of “hate speech”.
Hey now, Mark! don't be dissing my Hobbits by comparing them to Dennis Kookcinich!
Maybe 'Dorky Orc Month', instead ;o)
LOL! How delightfully correct!
Well, maybe the Sackville-Bagginses.
But, it's pretty true to form that writers who misuse cultural references to hobbits never read, or understood, Tolkien.
Steyn was probably just referring to Dennis’s being uh, ‘vertically challenged’, as they say. ;o)
