For those who don't know, the primaries will be held tomorrow for the special election to fill Rahn Emmanuel's vacant 5th District Congressional seat.
Longtime FReeper Rosanna Pulido is one of the candidates!
Many of our AIP volunteers have been working hard campaigning for her, and this heart-warming story came from one of them today. I though you might enjoy it:

GOOD NEWS! Now this is a candidate!! I was calling voters in the troubled State of Illinois about the election tomorrow, and I spoke with a lovely man who said he'd love to go to vote, but he couldn't leave his wife alone because he's her health care provider.
I told him I'd contact Rosanna Pulido's campaign headquarters to see if there was anything that could be done to help him. I left a message there, and I received a call personally from Rosanna Pulido asking if this man needed a ride to the nearest voting location!
I explained to her that he lived only one block from where he votes, and simply needed someone to be able to stay with his wife long enough for him to walk down and vote. He explained that his absentee ballot had not been delivered to his home, and if he couldn't have someone stay with his wife, he wouldn't be able to vote.
Rosanna's prompt response to this little problem was, "That's no problem. I'm a home health care provider, and I'll be happy to go take care of her. I'll call Mr. _____ right now."
Now this is what I call a "hands-on" leader who would be perfect to take over Rahm Emmanuel's seat in Congress. Make sure everyone in Illinois knows Rosanna will be the perfect replacement for Mr. Emmanuel, and good luck Rosanna Pulido!
We need people like you in Washington. You gave me back my faith in the goodness of Americans to help when necessary...but even more important...you gave me back my faith in what a true politician should be. Someone who helps the people in their district, and in the country.
Go get them Rosanna! Show the liberals what it means to be a real Conservative!!

What are you doing to help, and why are you attacking people who are doing obviously good work?
The only way to take IL-5 out of leftist hands is to run a candidate in the Democrat Primary who is established in the community well regarded and who can carry the banner of conservatism to a commuity that has been destroyed by liberals.
What we don’t need is an Illinois minuteman from the George Wallace Party. Who doesn’t have the courage enough to even admit what party they are running in.
The sooner we rid our movement of these modern day Birchers the better off we will be.
I agree that she’s a great candidate. I’ve known her for 2.5 years, and I’m her campaign volunteer coordinator. I walked four precincts for her.

I’m not sure of the latest count, but our volunteers have made many thousands of calls into the District to high-propensity primary voters.
Our people love Rosanna, as this story clearly shows.

This is a story about decent people doing decent things and sacrificing something because they care about saving this country. Things which have absolutely NOTHING to do with anyone’s party label.

usually the prob is conservatives won’t campaign in these things. So if anyone is doing anything, it is a step in the right direction.
Obviously, there ultimately has to be a plan to get 50% in the general in April.
CD#5 class 101: someone will win and the whole nation will pay the consequences.
not all the Dems are created equal. I haven’t been followin’ the race, but O’Connor or Quigley seem preferable over that leftist Sara. The DEM primary is a big deal.

I’m amazed by how disinterested and disengaged Republicans are about this race.
I guess complaining on the internet about Nancy Pelosi and company is more meaningful to them than actually starting the process of taking away her power.
Thousands of posts about Rush Limbaugh and Steele, and barely fifty on two threads about an election that’s going to go down tomorrow.
Unsurprisingly, neither of them has made a peep about this election that I’m aware of.

EV is right though. You probably don’t know much about the 5th district if you think shouting “Republican” from the rooftops would help her campaign. The district is overwhemingly Democrat.
This is a freeper we’re talking about who’s been posting in favor of Republican candidates as long as she’s been here, and is on the ballot as a Republican. What more would you need?
Okay, what planet are you living on? George Wallace's political party isn't even a registered party in Illinois. If you lived here you'd know this. We have five parties: Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, and Constitution. The first three are the ones with full ballot access. The CP and the LP aren't running anyone for this district. Rosanna's running as a Republican, and has always supported Republicans as long as she'd posted on this board (I should know, I've had arguements with her over her enthuesiasm for Jim Oberweis's many campaigns. Oberweis is also a lifelong Republican, BTW). She has never done anything remoted related to George Wallace, whose political organziation hasn't done anything in Illinois in 40 years. If you had a clue about anything that pertains to this campaign, you'd know that.
What we don't need is clueless, arrogant freepers like yourself -- who know nothing about Illinois -- making up fairy tales about conservative Republicans when we're trying to GOTV for one and take back a district from liberal Democrats.
So, what is the type of “Republican” you think should run for that office?

#1 On principle, i refuse to support liberals.
#2 On principle, i refuse to support candidates who have no chance of winning.
Pulido passes on idea#1, how does she do on #2? not sure, but i am working on NY#20 cuz I don’t live near ILL.
If I did live there, I would have to research the race and I might end up supporting O’Connor. Don’t know the details of the race.
Does Pulido have some grand strategy for the general?
