Sorry for the vanity- I am just monitoring the news Channels here in India and this is on all of them - The Sri Lankan Cricket team, playing a test series against Pakistan has just been attacked by terrorists with assault weapons and grenades. At least 6 of their players have been injured in the chest and leg, 5 guards killed in the attack near the Qaddafi stadium.
The Sri lamkan team replaced India who refused to tour after the Mumbai carnage.
Yikes.
Does anyone else note the irony here?
Those pagan savages ruin everything.
Pakistan attack on cricket convoy
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7920260.stm
Several members of the Sri Lankan cricket team have been injured after gunmen fired on a convoy carrying cricketers in Pakistani city of Lahore.
The convoy was carrying Pakistani and Sri Lankan cricketers to a ground, which is hosting a Test match between the two sides.
Reports quoting Sri Lankan authorities say at least two Sri Lankan players were seriously injured in the incident.
Unconfirmed reports say some policemen had been killed by the shooting.
The incident happened on the road from the teams’ hotel to the Gadaffi stadium, where a Test match is being held.
“It appears that our team bus was targeted on the way to the match. It appears that four of our cricketers have been injured and taken to the hospital,” a Sri Lankan cricket official told an Indian TV channel from Colombo.
At the rate they are going, and being encouraged by Liberals everywhere, they will soon be running everything too.
Yes-it’s named after our dear friend from Libya-for all his help to the Pakis in the 70s, including bankrolling their nukes.
Good call.
It’s the Paki way of saying thank you-Vajpayee got Kargil for opening up in 1999, Manmohan got Mumbai for all his initiatives.
Those pagan savages ruin everything.

Beautiful Indian ship on your Home page.
I hope we not having another attack like Mubari hotel
Unfortunately, the BJP is also in self-destruct mode. Will any of the North Indian BJP satraps allow Modi to become PM? I doubt it. And they have no other leader with a Pan-Indian appeal.
I don’t know how much of a difference Modi would make even if he were PM-the nature of coalition politics (as is evident in recent days) just won’t do it. And Modi was in control of Gujarat, which is unique among Indian states-no-nonsense, pro-business population. Anyway that’s something else.
What I expect is a retaliatory strike-either during the upcoming IPL competition or any big foreign tour of India. I would be seriously surprised if it doesn’t happen.
You're right about the IPL or big foreign tour attacks.:( They can't bear India getting any positive attention.
Huh. I just watched “Anthony Bourdain-No Reservations” Sri-Lanka. They showed a buncha kids playing cricket in one of the scenes. God bless the players.
Freegards
Obviously this attack is due to Sri Lanka’s massive invasion and illegal occupation of Iraq!

Lemme guess...
This heinous act was committed by - angry young Jewish boys after a depressingly dull Bar Mitzvah?!

Still no?
Wellllll...maybe, ummmm...
The regional ladies’ “Red Hat Society” chapter, juiced up on mimosas?

Guess it could have been some male practitioners of the P.hony R.eligion O.f P.eace {P.R.O.P.}, aged 19 to 45...

Hope he recovers soon. This is a huge blow for world cricket. A whole lot of Indians were following this match.
Prayers sent.
Somehow, I’ve come to the same conclusion that the ROP has reared its ugly head again.
Typical terr cowards! A cricket team? Prayers out to all. I was in Sri Lanka in the mid-80’s. Liked it a lot, very friendly people (didn’t go to the northern areas where the Tamil Tigers were).
Got good shots of friends running from a PO’d cobra. :)
Yes
The Talwar-class frigates (three built, three building, and six planned) are a very effective anti-submarine and anti-surface platform. Based off the Russian Krivak III, but with improved electronics and weapon systems, these frigates are intended to replace the older British-built Leander-class ships and then support the new frigates when they come online.
The jihadists killing once again to prove that it’s a religion of peace.
Thats not cricket.
For the news conference...
“It is clear the only possible game to play in Pakistan is Dodge the Bullets”
Quaddaffi Stadium on M.L. King Blvd.....verrry bad part of town Sahib...verry bad indeed!
how dare you, we will kill anyone who says that slam is not a religion of peace!
And you thought American Football was a tough game! :)
Hello Stonewall Jackson!
Where are these frigates built?
They look to be pretty speedy.
Best line.
Then again, Pakistan is a sticky wicket.
They are Russian-built, from the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg.
Rather significant a fidayeen style ambush attack like this in Lahore.
And at cricket, the very emblem of non jihadi adoration, and prolly some jihadis too.
To pull of an ambush like this would require some local help, including possibly security types.
A shot across the bow; in the center of Pakistan’s intellectual and cultural life, the glove slaps the face of the Pakistanis.
Pakistan melting down, effing awesome!
Yep, that sums them up
No kidding!
They need a no-negotiation policy.

They named a stadium after that Libyan nutcase?
He paid for their nuke programme, kept their economy moving and prolly also paid for the stadium to be built. He then has a right to name it after himself.
