Rush Limbaugh: Obama Might Benefit from Economic Failure
CBS News ^ | March 3, 2009 1:56 PM

Posted on 03/03/2009 11:28:21 AM PST by lewisglad

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh rejected reports that he is rooting for the failure of President Obama on his syndicated radio program Tuesday.

Instead, he suggested that President Obama stands to gain from an economic failure.

“I am an average citizen…I have a microphone,” Mr. Limbaugh said. He argued that he has been financially fortuitous in his life and asked why he would want to see the economy fail and his capital shrink.

Mr. Limbaugh also responded to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s comment on CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’ Sunday that Limbaugh “is the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party."

Limbaugh once again denied that he is the party’s de facto leader.

“I have no control…I am not in charge of one political policy,” he said today. “Why in the world would I want the economy to fail and destroy everything I am produced …I want just the opposite…I want to get out of this.”

“No one” is for economic collapse, Limbaugh said on his show this morning, “except maybe Obama.”

The president, Limbaugh said, is the “one person who can do something” about the economy “attitudinally,” and “he is standing mute.” Mr. Limbaugh claimed that President Obama has the ability to give a speech and ease people’s concerns, but there is no proof that the economy has been helped by his words or actions.

“Ask yourself, who is benefitting?” Limbaugh said. “Who said a crisis is a terrible thing to waste?…Rahm Emanuel.”

Obama benefits from the stock market plunge.

Many investors pull out of stocks and go to Treasuries.

That's Obamas money

Mr. Rove was the one trick pony that could win elections, nothing more. Granted when you want to be the Prez...that's a pretty good trick.

Mr. Rove is an amoral political opportunist with no other motivation than to win elections.

But hey, what the heck do I know.

While I wholeheartedly agree that Emanuel is indeed a sleaze ball, I don't believe he is the one who is pulling the strings. Someone else closely connected with the Clinton's is doing that job.

This is excellent news. Rush played this perfectly. Lots of attention is being paid to his every word right now because of the so called rift in the Repub party. Now he exposes Hussein's diabolical scheme to destroy the economy and make the ultimate socialist power grab.

This is way cool. I didn't think the general public would be exposed to this concept this until at least 2010. Now it's out there. If DemonRats want to discuss Rush's desire to see Zero fail they run the risk of spreading the planned economic collapse concept.

Try not to lose the hispanic vote (fail) and placate the business that want the cheap labor, all the while weakening the country.

Actually, I thought Limbaugh responded brilliantly today when he posed a challenge to WH reporters to ask Gibbs or Obama if they are willing to publically say they want the Republican Senators to SUCCEED in stopping the $1.7 trillion 'stimulus' bill.

I can just hear the crickets chirping in Democrat newsrooms across America.

This is why Rush is so much better than Hannity or Savage. He’s got the perfect balance of both. Unlike Hannity, he doesn’t try to convert leftists or tries to give them “equal time.” And unlike Weiner, he doesn’t foam at the mouth.

You are assigning motives and making judgments that you’re not in a position to make.

Do you suppose the accusations you make are true of the church leaders supporting the same policies? Or are they just trying to fill the collection plate?

“Selling out” is your overheated rhetoric.
What you call exploitation they call opportunity.
You pretend to be upset because they work harder and get paid less.
They’re happy to able to work at all and get paid what they do.

Do I wish it were managed differetly with border control and a sensible path to citezenship? Yes.
Because it’s not, is that “amoral”? NO!

So you do not think the fact we have “infidel” troops in their most holy place is offensive to them? I think so. It does not justify terrorism- nothing does, of course -but knowing your enemy’s motivations is important.

Paul is for small government, limited to its constitutional duties. I think having troops in foreign countries without a declaration of war is wrong. Obama, Bush and other big government advocates disagree with me on this one.

Yeah, they probably are trying to fill the collection plate. Some church "leaders" are very generous with other people's money and are very compassionate as long as they don't have to experience the consequences of their "compassion".

What you call exploitation they call opportunity.

Actually I call it exploitation because it IS exploitation.

You pretend to be upset because they work harder and get paid less. They’re happy to able to work at all and get paid what they do.

Americans and LEGAL immigrants work just as hard as Illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants get paid less because their employers can EXPLOIT their illegal status and pay them much less.

I suggest you read Mexifornia: A State of Becoming by Victor Davis Hanson (unlike me, a man not prone to overheated rhetoric)who lays out why illegal immigration is KILLING this country.

"The really perilous course lies in preserving the status quo and institutionalizing our past failed policies: open borders, unlimited immigration, dependence on cheap and illegal labor, obsequious deference to Mexico City, erosion of legal statutes, multiculturalism in our schools, and a general breakdown in the old assimilationist model."

You're right. We shouldn't do anything to offend terrorists. We should quit supporting the only democracy in the ME (Israel) and we should allow the Muslims to take over our country and "convert" all of "infidels" at the point of a sword.

Otherwise, we might be guilty of offending them, and thus responsible for any harm they do to us.

No, I don't "get it". And neither do you. Radical Islam HATES us. Do you get that? Why? Because we are not radical Muslims like they are. Do you get that? Whether it's a base in Saudi Arabia or support for Israel or just being Christians, we offend them. Evidently, Ron Paul does not believe there should be a War on Terror and that we deserve whatever terrorism we get because we offend them. Frankly, that sounds more like Jeremiah Wright than any sane conservative.

Paul voted to attack after 9-11. He also recommended the exact right action: to go in and bring the terrorists to justice via a Letter of Marque and Reprisal. Treat them like the criminals they are. Instead, AlQaeda has taken over Pakistan too. But without the WOT, the war mafia would not have cashed in

Democrats like big government. Republicans like small government expect when to makes their pet issue cronies money. Simple
