Pissant, you’re a great asset to this community, and I know that this is an issue that you’ve researched in great depth. By no means am I asking for or inciting a flame war here, but I don’t understand the issue.
Article 2, Section 1 Paragraph 5 of the Constitution states: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”
Now, Obama’s mother was a citizen of the United States. Does that not make him a natural born citizen, regardless of his place of birth? Do you have to pop out of the womb in US territory to be a natural born citizen?
And if we’re going into semantics, if we want to get really, really literal, can a caesarian baby hope to grow up to become president, since by definition they never traveled down the birth canal?
I’m not trying to pick a fight. I’m trying to pick my battles. This one seems hollow to me. He’s going to be president for then next four to eight years and I don’t want to spend that time screaming at a wall.
It is very simple. The Constitution did not specifically define natural born citizen (NBC). So it was left up to the congress, the states, and common law. And from nearly the beginning they have stipulated what it meant to be considered a NBC. The law, as it stood in 1961 would not have let Obama’s mother (a citizen) confer NBC status to a child if he were foreign born and the father a non-citizen. She needed to be 19 years of age for that to happen. She was not.

Given what he’s doing to the nation the natural birth requirement seems tailor made to prevent this situation.

Excellent reply. I’ll continue to follow this, but I cannot get past the feeling that we are shouting at a wall on this issue. The SCOTUS is not having anything to do with it, and they’re now as conservative as they are going to be for a while.
I’m betting on it...especially when his policies affect people personally.

We may be shouting at the wall. And Obama may be hiding something other than NBC status on his original BC. We do not know for certain. The only certainty is that he is:
A) spending a fortune trying to keep his birth circumstances hidden
b) a known lying sack of sh*t
c) a person who has spent his entire career befriending and cavorting with enemies of this nation.
For those reasons, and others, we must prevail in digging out all the truth about this enemy within.
IMHO they have rejected a number of cases on this issue with holes in them. They cannot set up the country for potential and probable civil unrest (let it happen...we’ll deal)on a case that will go no where once inside.

Take into account that he has not even shown the public what hospital he was born in. We know for 100% certainty that he went by the name Barry Soetoro in Indonesia... The burden of proof is on Obama to show his “original” birth certificate due to his unusual background. I wonder when we will see this “transparency” in his administration.
On a side-note, I changed my tagline to a quote from William Buckley Jr. I try to be careful when spelling people’s names, so I Google the names. When you Google William F. Buckley Jr., you get a wealth of YouTube videos of him. The one where he threatened to punch Gore Vidal in the mouth if he called him a fascist one more time is right up there with Reagan saying that he paid for that mic and they better not turn it off (I think that was in the ‘80 Republican debates, but I’m not sure).

The key here is that until the facts are establsihed, the law can not be applied to the situation, and the defendant has failed to produce the documentation requested in the lawsuits.
His contesting of the lawsuits, and stonewalling of the demands to produce proof of his place of birth, creates the very reasonable inference that he is hiding the truth (as he has also concealed his medical, college and law school records).
I have been a birther since the early fall, but as the Kenyan moves the country in very strange directions, more and more people are going to want to know more about his hidden past.

The left brought up John McCain's eligibility to be President, because he was born outside the US, in the Panama Canal Zone. He produced his BC, and it was shown that, because his father was in the military at the time, and both his parents were citizens of the US, there was no question but that he was a 'Natural Born Citizen'.
It just looks suspicious, because That One is doing such gyrations trying to skirt the issue. It would be a lot less hassle to just show us the document, IF he is, in fact, eligible for the Office.
