Military officers from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines are working with California attorney Orly Taitz and her Defend Our Freedoms Foundation, citing a legal right established in British common law nearly 800 years ago and recognized by the U.S. Founding Fathers to demand documentation that may prove – or disprove – Barack Obama's eligibility to be president.

Pissant, you’re a great asset to this community, and I know that this is an issue that you’ve researched in great depth. By no means am I asking for or inciting a flame war here, but I don’t understand the issue.

Article 2, Section 1 Paragraph 5 of the Constitution states: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Now, Obama’s mother was a citizen of the United States. Does that not make him a natural born citizen, regardless of his place of birth? Do you have to pop out of the womb in US territory to be a natural born citizen?

And if we’re going into semantics, if we want to get really, really literal, can a caesarian baby hope to grow up to become president, since by definition they never traveled down the birth canal?

I’m not trying to pick a fight. I’m trying to pick my battles. This one seems hollow to me. He’s going to be president for then next four to eight years and I don’t want to spend that time screaming at a wall.

It is very simple. The Constitution did not specifically define natural born citizen (NBC). So it was left up to the congress, the states, and common law. And from nearly the beginning they have stipulated what it meant to be considered a NBC. The law, as it stood in 1961 would not have let Obama’s mother (a citizen) confer NBC status to a child if he were foreign born and the father a non-citizen. She needed to be 19 years of age for that to happen. She was not.

Given what he’s doing to the nation the natural birth requirement seems tailor made to prevent this situation.

Single handedly wrecking our economy. Stirring up the entire world with his psychotic behavior. War spilling over our southern border. Begging china to buy even more of our debts.

We may be shouting at the wall. And Obama may be hiding something other than NBC status on his original BC. We do not know for certain. The only certainty is that he is:

A) spending a fortune trying to keep his birth circumstances hidden

b) a known lying sack of sh*t

c) a person who has spent his entire career befriending and cavorting with enemies of this nation.

For those reasons, and others, we must prevail in digging out all the truth about this enemy within.

IMHO they have rejected a number of cases on this issue with holes in them. They cannot set up the country for potential and probable civil unrest (let it happen...we’ll deal)on a case that will go no where once inside.

Take into account that he has not even shown the public what hospital he was born in. We know for 100% certainty that he went by the name Barry Soetoro in Indonesia... The burden of proof is on Obama to show his “original” birth certificate due to his unusual background. I wonder when we will see this “transparency” in his administration.

On a side-note, I changed my tagline to a quote from William Buckley Jr. I try to be careful when spelling people’s names, so I Google the names. When you Google William F. Buckley Jr., you get a wealth of YouTube videos of him. The one where he threatened to punch Gore Vidal in the mouth if he called him a fascist one more time is right up there with Reagan saying that he paid for that mic and they better not turn it off (I think that was in the ‘80 Republican debates, but I’m not sure).

here’s a good discussion of it:

http://federalistblog.us/2008/11/natural-born_citizen_defined.html

The key here is that until the facts are establsihed, the law can not be applied to the situation, and the defendant has failed to produce the documentation requested in the lawsuits.

His contesting of the lawsuits, and stonewalling of the demands to produce proof of his place of birth, creates the very reasonable inference that he is hiding the truth (as he has also concealed his medical, college and law school records).

I have been a birther since the early fall, but as the Kenyan moves the country in very strange directions, more and more people are going to want to know more about his hidden past.

What's amazing is that it's a simple issue. Either he HAS a Birth Certificate, or he doesn't. In order to get a Passport you have to produce a BC, so he had one at SOME point.

The left brought up John McCain's eligibility to be President, because he was born outside the US, in the Panama Canal Zone. He produced his BC, and it was shown that, because his father was in the military at the time, and both his parents were citizens of the US, there was no question but that he was a 'Natural Born Citizen'.

It just looks suspicious, because That One is doing such gyrations trying to skirt the issue. It would be a lot less hassle to just show us the document, IF he is, in fact, eligible for the Office.

Actually no it wasn't left up to Congress. Congress was only granted the power to establish a uniform rule of naturalization.

There's no evidence he's spent any substantial amount of money on this. Someone just plucked a figure out of their fevered imagination, flung it out on the Internet, and it took on a life of its own.

The first time I recall seeing it it was something on the order of $50,000. Now people (Keyes for example) are claiming "millions."

It's a perfect example of how someone can just make something up out of thin air and there will be plenty of people who will swallow it without question.

All his lawyers have ever done is to file a handful of rather boilerplate motions in a handful of cases. I doubt what's been spent is even into five figures.

Here you go:

Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, Title III, Chapter 1

The relevant portion is Section 301(a)(7), which reads:

a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of w11om is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than tell years, at least five of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States by such citizen parent may be included in computing the physical presence requirements of this paragraph.

http://federalistblog.us/2008/11/natural-born_citizen_defined.html

No, it's not. "P.A Madison" is just an anonymous hack on the Internet who dreamed up the laughable argument that "natural born citizen" in Article II came from de Vattel, rather than English common law.

I'll take James Madison over the anonymous "P.A. Madison":

It is an established maxim that birth is a criterion of allegiance. Birth however derives its force sometimes from place and sometimes from parentage, but in general place is the most certain criterion; it is what applies in the United States;

James Madison, House of Representatives, May 22, 1789

That is exactly what is disturbing about him in general. What is known about him are all the Marxist, communist, broken family weirdness. The things you'd think he'd want to hold up highest, everything you mentioned above, are hidden. We probably know more about Octo-Mom.

That's incorrect. McCain never produced his birth certificate to the public.

The images on the Internet that people have claimed to be McCain's birth certificate were provided by a rather shady character named Donald Lamb, and they were used by Hollander AGAINST McCain in Hollander's eligibility lawsuit against McCain.

The birth certificates claimed to be McCain's actually refute McCain's claim that he was born at the family hospital at Coco Solo Naval Air Station. They birth certificates supplied by Donald Lamb show McCain to have been born at the Colon Hospital, in Colon, Panama.

So, either McCain is lying, or the documents provided by Lamb are forgeries.

Bottom line though, McCain never produced his birth certificate to the public.
