"We need to understand just how close fear and over- weening ambition took us to executive tyranny."

Oh please!...cut the poetry! You liberal clowns are all alike. GET BUSH! GET BUSH! We have a hell of a lot more to worry about now with Zero dismantling America! How about a bipartisan committee to look at ACORN and how they fraudulently got whack job Obama in the White House!

The LAT needs to be forcefully reminded how much “tyranny” we will find ourselves in if we have a similar incident to 9/11 while the big zero is pres, more thsnn likely manufactured, if it doesn’t happen soon by its own accord.

Just remember, the Left held a grudge against Bush throughout his first term (”selected not elected”), but didn’t really ratchet it up until his second term. They will continue this drumbeat long enough to get Obmama re-elected based on the Bush boogeyman strategy.

It seems Bush had far more draconian powers available to him than he chose to use. His restraint makes him the opposite of a tyrant.

Yes, I also remember the dissenting politicians and journalists vanishing without a trace.

I remember the political assasinations. I remember the arrests for sedition. I recall the pundits like Olbermann being jailed for questioning Bush the Ruler.

It was quite a scary time.

What a useless, useless article. The fact that Bush asked his Justice department to let him know ALL parameters in which he could protect the country show how on top of it he was. If we were to find out that Bush had not requested this type of review from then we should be upset.

Notice how they ruled he had the authority to do all of these things in the event they were necessary and used wise judgement in not abridging our rights like many past Presidents like Lincoln and FDR had done during similar crisis.

These morons really need to find another avenue in which to vent their irrational hatred of America, Bush is now happily retired and we have the Communist Obama to worry about.

Yes we should all be happy that President Bush considered using the Military and illegally search homes[4th Amendment], instead of even considering putting the troops on a international border , to prevent the invasion of illegals.

There is ample evidence the democrats undermined the President, the lied about war, and the talked down the economy with full understanding of the “loyalty issues” at stake so they could regain the political power they had lost.

Considering the nation’s populace was frightened out of their everlovin’ minds post 911, I’m not surprised. But the real tyranny is the obozo admin just because he’s black. The following legislation by the RATS is frightening:

New Legislation by Democrats: Gun Bans, the Draft, and a President for Life

As Obama takes office, Liberals in Democrat-majority controlled Congress are already off their medication.

First from David Codrea, we learn that Rep. Bobby Rush wants to keep a very close eye on you and your guns. Text of his bill is here.

Among its great new Big Brother provisions is a requirement that all handguns be registered with and licensed by the Attorney General.

Then, once you register, you’d better learn all the new rules, otherwise you go to the slammer.

It shall be unlawful for any individual to whom a firearm license has been issued... to fail to report to the Attorney General a change in the address of that individual within 60 days of that change of address. . . .

It shall be unlawful for any person who owns a qualifying firearm to fail to report the loss or theft of the firearm to the Attorney General within 72 hours after the loss or theft is discovered.

If you don’t keep Uncle Sam apprised of the location of you and your guns, you face up to 2 years in federal prison.

And if you allow a child to have access to the guns, you are looking at up to 5 years.

[I]t shall be unlawful for any person to keep a loaded firearm, or an unloaded firearm and ammunition for the firearm...within any premises that is under the custody or control of that person, if—

(A) that person—

(i) knows, or recklessly disregards the risk, that a child is capable of gaining access to the firearm...

And if the Attorney General decides to ban the sale or transfer of a gun, why that’s okay too.

The Attorney General may issue an order prohibiting the sale or transfer of any firearm that the Attorney General finds has been transferred or distributed in violation of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or a regulation issued under this Act.

So first they will cut deeply into your 2nd Amendment rights. Then Charlie Rangel will reinstate the draft.

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) likely will introduce his controversial legislation to reinstate the draft again this year, but he will wait until after the economic stimulus package is passed.

Asked if he plans to introduce the legislation again in 2009, Rangel last week said, “Probably … yes. I don’t want to do anything this early to distract from the issue of the economic stimulus.”

Finally, with the arrival of Obama, some Democrats see no need to elect anyone else . . . ever again. So we learn that Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY) wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution to allow Obama to serve forever.

Link to the bill is here, but the text of the All Barry, All The Time, Forever and Ever, Amen Amendment reads as follows.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

‘Article—

‘The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.’.

Well there’s a bunch of Hope and Change for you.

To me this is just an attempt to divert attention from the communist POTUS’s treachery.

Just trying the beat the drum that worked well enough to elect a guy who is being overwhelmingly praised by the CPUSA.

FDR did far more than that. He created to office of Censorship and he did massive spying people and groups inside the US, and before we entered the war no less.

In defence of both FDR and Bush, I believe they both did what they felt they must to to protect our country from attack. I don’t think they did it out of desire.

Is that the threshold where we start worrying about our Constitutional liberties being infringed? In that case, I guess we can all just go back to sleep, then.

Hmmm, wasn’t it Harry Truman who had a sign “The buck stops here” on his desk.

Now, democratic president has “Don’t look at me, it’s the other guy’s fault” on the desk.
