Woman Admits Dancing, Waving Wand, Throwing Flowers
LAURENS COUNTY, S,C. -- A woman who says she had no connection to a funeral danced in front of the service, waved a wand over the casket, opened it and touched the deceased man and then threw the flowers from the casket at the family, deputies said.
Laurens County deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at the Church of God in Gray Court on Tuesday. Those attending the funeral said that the woman had joined the procession. They said once they were seated inside the church, the woman then danced in front of them near the casket. They said after she waved the wand over the casket and had touched the deceased man, she hit him in the head with the wand.
The family said after the woman threw the flowers from the top of the casket at them, she drove off in a burgundy Toyota with North Carolina plates.
Deputies pulled the vehicle over on Interstate 385. They asked the driver, 25-year-old Nicole Marie-Loretta Leonard, about the funeral, and they said she admitted to doing everything the witnesses in church said she did.
Deputies said Leonard told them she behaved the way she did because she "felt it was the right thing to do at the time." She said she was driving through the area from North Carolina and did not know anyone at the church.
Leonard has a Web page that says she is a massage therapist who recently graduated from The Center For Massage and Natural Health in Weaverville, N.C. On her Web page, she says, “My private office is tucked away in a serene valley surrounded by an amazing mountain-scape. My loving energy and slow flowing technique provide a truly outstanding relaxation massage.”
Leonard is charged with disorderly conduct and disrupting a funeral.

I disagree. I would have been in shock. Grieving people are usually not clear thinking either.

I agree with you. Plus, they may have thought she was with someone else there. This young woman needs some very serious help. Her time with the Center for Massage and Natural Health has obviously done nothing for her mental health.
That was the first thing I thought of. Why the heck didn’t anyone stop this lunatic? Remind me never to be in an attempted plane hijack with these folks.
If she filed in with some other people and just did it without hesitation, she probably was gone before the shock was over.
And having been to many southern funerals myself, she was probably the talk of the church basement luncheon after the fact. Let’s put it this way; no one will forget grandpa’s funeral!
I can’t imagine how these people felt. The woman is either a future psych ward patient or done too many drugs. Or both.
Maybe from that preacher that goes around and disrupts the funerals of vets. Can’t remember his name.

Grieving people yes but others who attend who are not so emotionally involved could do something.
Whether she was with someone else or not...what she did was wrong and had it been my family I know what the men AND...the women would have done. Not to mention our friends who were there with us. There is no excuse for letting her even get close to the deceased, open the box and then hit him?????????????????? Sorry... NOT!!!

I wondered the same thing. If this had been my family member's funeral, I would have tackled her from the start. Probably my sister would do the same thing.

If it was a neighbor’s funeral, would you know for certain that the woman didn’t belong? What if you tackled the guy’s nutty niece? You wouldn’t know. Anyone who did was grieving and those who weren’t would have no idea if the nut belonged there.
I'd imagine that they were too shocked by the incident. Or, depending on the deceased, may have thought it part of the service? Who knows, I wasn't there.
Also, we're all assuming that the "reporter" got the story right. They may have gotten some, or none at all, of the facts correct.
Sorry. If someone had done something like that to my Dad lying there in his casket I would have jumped up and slugged the bastard right in the face.

I still say that not everyone would simply because of the shock. And grieving people are not themselves. I don’t blame this group of people for not reacting immediately. Death isn’t easy to deal with. Throw in a nut job and you have a group that isn’t behaving normally.
Of course, it might have been worth it.
They say everything happens for a reason. Due to this woman's actions, this dog is probably in a new home with sane people. Another life saved.
Maybe from the Phelps family disrupting soldier's and Amish girls' funerals.
Actually, I read she is providing advice to the GOP on how to win elections.
Watching them do their “Let’s Kill Each Other” dance, they seem to be listening
