Al Gore: Global Warming Struggle Akin to Civil Rights
The American Thinker ^ | March 06, 2009 | Deborah Hallberg

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:22:16 AM PST by Scanian

We've seen it before: Al Gore portraying global warming as a moral issue. Now he's gone one step further. He's compared the global warming crisis to the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and ‘60s.

The former vice president spoke at the recent Wall Street Journal's ECO:nomics summit, where he described his 10-year plan to get the country off carbon-based fuels as a "generational investment" and chastised the country for failing to take action.

But where he showed his desperation was where he compared global warming alarmists to civil rights activists, and global warming skeptics to southern segregationists.

"When Bull Connor turned those hoses on the demonstrators - peaceful, nonviolent demonstrators - a lot of kids asked their parents, hey, tell me again why that's not wrong? When their parents couldn't really give them good answers, that's when the tipping point came there. And I think we're close to a similar situation now, where enough people are saying, in all sincerity, tell me again why we shouldn't be solving this?"

He even made a reference to Bob Dylan's civil rights anthem, "Blowin' in the Wind," though he stumbles over the lyrics:

"How long will it take? Bob Dylan wrote the song, How many ... I can't remember the words, but you know, How many times will we have to go through this before people realize that civil rights are a birthright in this country, and shouldn't be denied on the basis on skin color?"

But Gore's effort to demonize the skeptics did completely escape scrutiny. Bjorn Lomborg, the Danish environmentalist abd author of "Cool It: The skeptical Environmentalist's Guide ot Global Warming," was in the audience and challenged Gore to a debate on the issue.

I thought it was the “struggle” for homosexual “marriage” that was akin to the civil rights struggle? Or was it abortion-on-demand, pot decriminalization or nuking the gay whales for Zoroaster? I wish the libtard peacecreeps would make up their (so-called) minds!!

More appropriately, Gore’s campaign might be called the struggle for Civil Wrongs.

“I have a dream. And in it, the government is in control of the details of every person’s life, and of every business, and I am in charge, because the people recognize my superior wisdom. No one knows better than I do how each of you should live. And we will all worship Gaia, Mother Earth, together. Well, you can worship me while I worship Gaia.”

Global warming has evolved into just another liberal cause of the day. Al, that’s why you’re desperate. This is just another liberal cause like save the whales, save the rainforest, homosexual marriage, vegan lifestyles, war is not the answer, PETA, etc. etc. etc. Most people can only absorb so much liberal cause celebre being forced down our throats. Your global warming cause has to compete with all of the other liberal causes out there.

You got that right. There are so many liberal causes that we’re supposed to feel are the key to our earthly utopia, it’s hard to keep them all straight, and know which ones are the most important causes.

Just think sometimes about how close we came to having this whack job in the White House. If some of us in Florida hadn’t knocked ourselves out in 2000 he might have proven every bit as destructive as Zer0.

A symptom of how far our press and media have fallen is how Al Gore is even taken seriously for his wildly outrageous statements that in days gone by would get you a visit by two guys with a butterfly net and straight jacket.

“Al Gore is nothing more than an uneducated buffoon.”

Oh, but he went to divinity school, but I think he flunked out.

He is a total embarassment to Tennessee.
At least we were smart enough to not vote for him.

It looks like it is time a complete investigation of Mr. Gore and his finances is in order. How much money has Gore made off of this obvious fraud? I heard rumor he was worth 10 million when he left office but he is now worth over 100 million. When will Gore be made to reveal to the public in full how much he has scammed from America? The man should be in jail for conspiracy and fraud. He should also be brought up on charges for being directly responsible for hundreds of thousands of African children (”For the children”) dying from malnutrition due to the high cost of corn. HE has abused humans way too long and must be brought in front of the UN for his murderous deeds. The man is worse than Idi Amin. Al Gore, a true mass murderer!

They do share a similarity - on both issues, the Democrats were on the WRONG side.

“he went to divinity school, but I think he flunked out.”

Al Gore was a C student in college and failed to complete two graduate programs. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/08/AR2007060802283.html

Why should anyone expect that as an adult he’d suddenly become transformed into a critical thinker capable of actually analyzing evidence (as opposed to parroting self-serving politically correct conclusions drawn by others)?

By far the biggest difference between global warming and all of these other liberal causes of the day is that it can suck hundreds of billions of dollars out of our economy and change our way of life in ways that are unimaginable to a lot of people. Al Gore is no fool. He knows this and has already made more money off this fools tale than most. Do not underestimate what kind of irreparable damage this will do to our country.

Al Gore: “But, but, but it’s the cutting edge issue of our times. No, really. Global warming is REAL, just like Hell is Real, and if you don’t believe me on the first, I’ll have my good friend God send you to HELL. FOREVER. Ok?”

Yes it is; with Mr. Gore in the role of grand wizard of the KKK, stomping on peoples freedoms to feed his cult like opinions of the way things ought to be arranged.
