I’m Guessing That’s Why He’s A ‘Former’ Jesuit

As a former Jesuit friend of mine said to me once, you know you shouldnt necessarily confuse the official positions of Rome with what it means to be a person of faith, with what it means to be a Catholic.
Thats David Iverson, explaining on Good Morning America today why even as a church-attending Catholic he supports Pres. Obamas decision to overturn the Bush-era ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. Introducing the segment, co-anchor Kate Snow did note that the decision was controversial, as later did reporter Lisa Stark, and we heard from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Ok.) and the Family Research Council in opposition.
But in typical MSM fashion, two sympathetic cases were highlighted in support of the preferred liberal position.

Cafeteria Catholicism ping to Today show list.
NOTE: I’d be grateful if people would ping this to RC, pro-life and other appropriate lists.

Lots of Cafeteria Catholics and Cafeteria Christians out there!

Did anybody explain to this fraud the reason Adult Stem Cell research doesn’t need government funding is because IT WORKS, and therefore plenty of PRIVATE MONEY funds it.
If ESC had ANY scientific or medical potential it wouldn’t need government money!

Responded Iverson: I was raised Catholic, I still attend the Catholic church. And it is complex in that way. Because you know, in a sense, my Church points me in one direction. My body points me in another.Doesn't that just say it all. Never mind the destruction of human life if it might meet my needs.

I'll check with Father. If I remember correctly there was a certain line that was permitted to be tested but they had no funding.Let me check with Father-better yet I'll have him on if he is available.
