Presidential Double-talk... Newsweek finally realizes that Obama is a typical politician
Newsweek ^ | 03/07/09 | Robert J. Samuelson

Posted on 03/08/2009 10:04:15 AM PDT by Painesright

Barack Obama is a great pretender. He constantly says he's doing things that he isn't, and he relies on his powerful rhetoric to obscure the difference. He has made "responsibility" a personal theme, and the budget's cover line is "A New Era of Responsibility." He claims that the budget begins "making the tough choices necessary to restore fiscal discipline." It doesn't.

If Obama were "responsible," he would be leading a candid conversation about government's size and role. Who deserves support and why? How big can government grow before higher taxes and deficits harm long-term economic growth? Although Obama claims to be doing this, he hasn't confronted entitlement psychology—the belief that government benefits once conferred should never be revoked—and asked whether some significant spending no longer serves any "public interest."

It is Obama's conceit—perhaps his cockiness—that he can ignore these blatant inconsistencies. Like many smart people, he believes he can talk his way around any problem.

The more these morons ignore reality, the more people will get fed up. It is important to remember that they are no longer the sole guardians of the news. There are so many grassroots movements and with more people unemployed and increasingly disgruntled with pretty much everything PC and racial, that Obama is going to be tossed out like Carter, but in a much more long lasting way in the public mind because of the wealth of stories and the record high drop in employment and the war he’s throwing under the bus.

Carter was supposedly so bad with the Iran hostage crisis (I wasn’t born yet) and left in disgrace, with two wars to manage Obama will end up killing a lot of our troops, but his disgrace will be all the worse because he was supposed to be ‘historical,’ and ‘the moment in time.’ No one can live up to that hype, but he isn’t even trying to do anything substantial. He’s partying right in the middle of mass economic collapse is bad enough, but his throwing everything away is worse because there is so much more on the line.

When Clinton presided over a good economy (bubble or not) people were more forgiving of his peccadilos because things were good and politicians aren’t really considered (with rare exceptions like President Bush) to be all that moral anyway.

With Obama pretty much covering himself in laurels while the economy falls to pieces is a different story. He’s having Hollywood people at the White House, (bad enough) but literally in his office discussing Darfur of all things, treating them like they are people trained in this thing. Bonking Angelina doesn’t mean he’s educated, only more of an idiot to leave Aniston for that freak show.

Citizens got angry enough at Hollywood in 2004 over their antics and now Obama is making it worse. With these celebutards being taken seriously, it’s my own personal nightmare coming true. If the economy were booming I’d still be ticked over it, but since it’s in the dump I’m livid.

There's going to be such a thorough cleansing when 2010 rolls around. Congresscritters are going to be shoveled out into the dungheap and Obama will face a very, very hostile Congress, Democrat or Republican dominated. I hope they vote for his impeachment. If not the citizenry will deal with him.

“His base doesn’t read Newsweek, so it won’t have an effect.”

I know one of them who subscribes to it. He believes that Newsweek is for lefties; Time for centrists, and U.S. News for the right-leaning. He goes back to Newsweek & MSNBC when he’s feeling threatened by reality & wants to sooth himself with liberal fantasy.

Look at the comments to the article on their site - the hippie communists are holding onto 50% of the posts. (I’m not saying they read the article, but they do realize that Newsweek published something tarnishing B0’s halo.)

You know - if it gets so hot that Democrats turn on him then you can bet they will be THE reason that his citizenship becomes a legitimate issue.

They will bring that one out to rid themselves of a stealth Communist who is at War with American Capitalism.

Thanks for that insight. In the end we will need his supporters to realize that they bought the wrong product...

Even so, I will not click to visit their site, subscribe to their magazine or publicize their articles, with the exception of that Palestinian state map atrocity.

Traitors.
