I Would Still Vote For Obama
Forbes ^ | 03/09/09 | Christopher Buckley

Posted on 03/09/2009 3:00:33 AM PDT by LifeComesFirst

Our choice, last fall, was between an angry 73 year old with a legislative record far from consistently conservative, who nominated as his running mate a know-nothing religious extremist; on the other side was an appealing, thoughtful man who--for a brief shining moment--seemed to be more than the sum of his ideological parts.

If I had to vote all over again, I'd pull the same lever. Maybe I'm obtuse. Or maybe I just haven't yet entirely given up on the old audacity of hope.

So Sarah Palin is a “know-nothing religious extremist”?

Chris has gone off the cliff. They’ve probably got his father Bill Buckley lashed down so he can’t spin.

Disgusting.

Buckley: “Maybe I’m obtuse.”

Yeah, maybe so.

I agree neither choice was exactly a good one, but one would have to be extremely obtuse to ignore the OBVIOUS signs of Obama’s political philosophy. There were only two reasonable courses of action for conservatives: sit it out or vote McCain. You don’t vote for a socialist because you have problem voting for a RINO moderate, Christopher!

Then you aren’t obtuse, you’re stupid. The truth has been laid bare and you still are unwilling to accept it. You can’t even see the difference between a “legislative record far from consistently conservative” to the far left socialist now in the White House. - And you’d do it again - Stupid is as stupid does.

BTW, I equate “sitting it out” with voting third party. Any of the above (third party, sitting it out, or vote McCain) would have been more honorable than a vote for a charismatic socialist hellbent on destroying everything America stands for!

Buckley is full of it, or full of himself would be more accurate. Anyone with two remaining, functioning synapses left to rub together knows that this administration is intent on destroying America, sooner, rather than later.

Buckley is clearly an educated moron.

I have been calling for the starvation of universities. They are now the sworn enemies of capitalism and are nothing but Marxist propaganda mills.

Nothing is now more clear than formal education is destroying America because the truth is not being taught. There is no balance or fairness in universities. They are wholly owned subsidiaries of Marxists. The left runs them and only leftists gain tenure as professors.

Starve them to death and the leftists will have to get a real job and find out about economics on the most basic level.

We have an ocean of college graduates and an economy heading back to the hunter-gatherer stage.

Dear Chris,

Were the election held tomorrow, wouldn't you ask POTUS these three questions:
(1) Who are you?
(2) Where are you from?
(3) What were you doing in Kenya with Dick Morris campaigning for Odinga?

The MSM, including so-wannabe Chris Buckley, never asked the winning candidate "Who, "What, When, Where, Why, With whom, For Whom?" Fortunately for the winning candidate, neither did his opponent.

When you dissect Buckley’s views, his real issue is with Sarah Palin. And his real issue with her is her alleged ‘extreme’ religious views. Yet if anyone takes the trouble and traces the evolution of Sarah’s faith they would at least know that it is significantly influenced by the writings of the great British thinker, CS Lewis. Lewis was a literary giant, a colleage of Tolkien, steeped in the classics, and one of the greatest Christain apologists of the 20th century. His views (in the Anglican tradition) may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he was most decidely not a so-called ‘fundamentalist’ and certainly not an ‘extremist’. He is beloved by both Evangelicals and Catholics alike. My main quarrel with people like Buckley (and Parker, Frum, Brooks, etc) is that they are intellectullay lazy, incurious, and uniformed. In other words they are badley educated! I am not American, but I appear to know more about American political candidates like Governor Palin than they take the trouble to find out.

Christo, old boy, I’ll say it again: That “know-nothing religious extremist” apparently knew enough to have a better read on your candidate than you did. And if you ever thought (and especially if you still think) that Barry was going to be more conservative than John McCain, you’re too stupid to sweep floors at National Review, much less write for them, even less be a trustee.

His father may have been a conservative of sorts in his youth, but as he aged (rather like French cheeses) he began to smell. He allied himself with causes like Jimmy's 'give the Panama Canal back to the Panamanians'. (There wasn't a Panama when Americans slogged through malaria-infested mosquitoes to dig the damned thing.) It was at that time that I canceled my subscription to NR.

Christoper is as boring and useless as the few books he has cobbled together. His opinion on anything is of no use to anyone with a brain.
