The Illinois High School Association is being challenged on a policy that bans Christian schools from offering a prayer or any religious message over their public address systems when they host association events on their own property.
"It is blatantly unconstitutional for public school officials to come into private schools and enforce a policy prohibiting them from expressing what's central to their religious beliefs," said David Cortman, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, or ADF.
The ADF wrote this week to association chief Marty Hickman after several private schools complained about the new restrictions. WND left a message with Hickman seeking comment, but the call was not returned today.

It would be difficult to formulate a civil, let alone a Christian response to such an over reach!

They know full well it’s blatantly unconstitutional. But there approach now days is to go ahead and do it and let the damaged party spend years and years and hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, to correct it. Even if they lose in the long run they have prevailed for the time it takes a castrated judicial system to call their hand. And, as an added benefit they have practically bankrupted the aggrieved party. Not bad for a day’s work.
Until we find some way to institute a form of ‘loser pays’ we will have to be content with seeing our freedoms taken away one by one. It’s just too damned easy right now to file a frivolous law suit or pass a frivolous law and depend on the patience or the billfold of the other side to fail at a critical point along the way.
Sigh.

They either believe in or hide behind the “compassion” story used by liberals as they employ that method to grow and maintain an oppressed and reliant class.

If state education hacks are trying to take away the right of Christians on their own property, what does IL do for Muslim students who claim their right to pray on public school grounds? Inquiring minds want to know...

It begins... It began with Madalyn Murry O'Hair. This is simply the next phase.
The beginning was the acceptance of a completely twisted understanding of the Constitution. Once one has accepted the premise that the meaning of ...."Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" .......is actually that the state should actively prohibit the public expression of religious beliefs in its schools and in government, the playing field has already been set.
This effectively establishes the principle of freedom from religion and this mistaken understanding is now almost universal. Thus, it becomes a short hop, step and a jump to arrive at the conclusion that I have a right not to even hear about your religion, even if I come to your religious school.
The whole concept of "freedom of religion" has been turned on its head to mean "freedom from religion" which is a complete myth. Furthermore, how anyone can construe having to listen to a prayer as meaning that religion is being forced upon them, is beyond me. Plug in your iPod if it bothers you that much. Ignore it. Chat to the person next to you. How many times do we have to listen to stuff we disagree with, from the guy in the next car with his stereo up too loud to the guy at the next table in the restaurant who won't shut up about the business deal he's just made.
There is no constitutional basis for the prohibition or banning of any religious expression. Anytime, anywhere. Public or private.
To: kellynla
I guess before long it will be unconstitutional to pray in churches too.

Atheism is for all intents and purposes the state religion now. The changes left to be done to formalize this fact are trivial, which is itself a proof that it already is our state religion.
The absence of respect for property rights, freedom of expression, and other basic rights is astonishing in a nation that still talks about being 'the land of the free.' I don't see how any modern citizen of the U.S. can justifiably regard this as a free nation any more.
