I agree. I saw the caption “unarmed Navy ship” and wondered, why the hell do we even have a Navy ship without weapons or escort? It’s the freakin’ Navy! You know, SHIPS WITH WEAPONS!

“Here we go.”
The Soviets tested a weak JFK with Cuban missiles....

THAT should do it...Delusions of grandeur among the PLAN.
Fact is that even at half of it's strength since Reagan, Seventh Fleet is still the biggest and toughest kid on that particular block.
What is lacking is decisive leadership on both sides of the aisle. i'm thinking an F/A-18 strike on that plane instead of an apology would have gone a long way to putting off several potential crisis in that region of the world.

Didnt Russia just recently sink a Chinese ship that was in its territorial waters? I hardly would call this a test for Obama. Its comparable to giving the moon to your enemy. I though George W reacted poorly when the Chinese forced that recon plane to land early in his presidency and then stripped it of its electronic equipment. But you got to wonder what it will take for Obama to react to provocation. The Russians are of a completely different mind set. They lost 20 million people to Hitler and the Nazis. The idea of "Protect the Rodina" is deeply ingrained in their actions.
If one so much as scraped the paint on an American warship or military vehicle, it was at one time considered to be Causus Beli. We should have lanuched an F/A-18 strike on that aircraft to make the point to all observers. In my view, it would have put off potential trouble in that region for a long time.
If some PLA Military intelligence people got hurt or killed in that strike, well...cost of doing that kind of business.

I still say the US Navy should build a dipping, active sonar... You don't have to penetrate thermal layers with active sonars if you are beneath them where the sub is...

Tag, we’re it, and Dear Leader is to far out of his depth he’s powerless to do anything about it but whine like a French president.

During the last incident, there was a massive movement of men and materiel to Norfolk, and the people who counted in Washington in China knew about it.

Yea, those USMMI cooks sucked. I sailed as a Comm tech for HTSC in the early 90’s.

No TV on the boat. But they did have a very nice 8 track tape player with a nice collection of tapes.

How much heavy fighting could the IJSDF really handle? From what I’d read I thought they were still tied the the WWII limitations on their military.
To: SeminoleSoldier
Is that an F-22?
Yes it is :)

These ships are not equipped with the necessary berthing, crew quarters and support a detachment would require., besides, they stay out too long for most sailors.Wow...I guess I really wasn't paying too much attention the 5 months I was there...
