WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said Monday that Chinese ships shadowed and maneuvered dangerously close to a U.S. Navy vessel in what appeared to be an effort to harass the American crew.
The Obama administration is protesting to the Chinese government. The protest will be delivered to Beijing's military attache on Monday.

Here we go.
Literally the sharks are circling. They smell blood with our “tired and overwhelmed” President.
Will that happen before or after the Chinese buy more of our debt?
“Here we go.”
Yeah, why do I have that same feeling I get when clicking up to the top of the roller coaster and the first car has whooshed over the drop?
Shades of the “EP-3 Incident” early in the Bush Administration. The Chinese are testing Obama.
Oh no! Obama has too much on his plate now...
And I still can't believe the only skill Obama has is talking via the teleprompter and he got elected anyways...
It happens from time to time.
Russia, China flex muscles in joint war games
Reuters: Aug 17, 2007
CHEBARKUL, Russia (Reuters) - Russia and China staged their biggest joint exercises on Friday but denied this show of military prowess could lead to the formation of a counterweight to NATO.
"Today's exercises are another step towards strengthening the relations between our countries, a step towards strengthening international peace and security, and first and foremost, the security of our peoples," Putin said.
Fighter jets swooped overhead, commandos jumped from helicopters on to rooftops and the boom of artillery shells shook the firing range in Russia's Ural mountains as two of the largest armies in the world were put through their paces.
The exercises take place against a backdrop of mounting rivalry between the West, and Russia and China for influence over Central Asia, a strategic region that has huge oil, gas and mineral resources.
Russia's growing assertiveness is also causing jitters in the West. Putin announced at the firing range that Russia was resuming Soviet-era sorties by its strategic bomber aircraft near NATO airspace.
From National Public Radio (NPR):

"Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has been visiting countries such as China, Iran and Russia as part of an effort to build a 'strategic alliance' of interests not beholden to the United States. He considers the United States his arch enemy.":
I seem to remember that "Nancy" had an opinion what to do back then... and her hubby has financial ties with the Chinese...
Anyone with a piss amount of brains knows this is a test - How will the new President respond? If it’s anything short of “The next ship that gets that close gets blown up,” the Chinese will sense weakness, and rightfully so. You think the Chinese fear an arougala salad-eating wuss like Obama?
They're just testing the new President.
The question is how will he react?
Oh, yeah, THAT'll scare 'em!
Weakness is always bad policy.
The statement said the Navy sprayed one ship with water from fire hoses to force it away and the Chinese crew members stripped to their underwear and continued closing within 25 feet.???
Are they trying to tell us something about Chinese sailors?
That’s what I’m thinking.
Anyway welcome to the real world Obama......
Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president was facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.
He may have to focus on foreign affairs, whether he wants to or not!
... maybe the shower facilities on that particular Chinese warship were on the blink? Remember the scene from “The Sand Pebbles”? Back then they were bleeding the water from the ships boilers. That probably hurt.
Just SOP for the Chinese.
The lifeblood fo the nation has bled away, and we are now a paper tiger awaiting the lighting of the match.
All problems start at the top.
Probably just checking on their assets.
How? Appeasement will be taken to a whole new level.
GOLDEN, Colorado A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.
Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.
Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

Obama Pledges Cuts in Missile Defense, Space, and Nuclear Weapons Programs
February 29, 2008 :: News
A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.
The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:
Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.
First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[i.e. not win it]
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.
You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

If you keep mixing your metaphors like that, you're sure to wake up with a hangover!
Weather ship ?
He will react with weakness. Russia, China, Iran, Syria, AQ, taliban, Pakistan, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, the list goes on and O is in WAY over his head.
Don't ask...don't tell.
It’s a “spy ship”. So what! I assume it was in international waters. What I don’t understand is how they put this ships out there without any air or sea escorts. Remember the Pueblo? Remember the Liberty? Would those incidents have happened if there was an Aegis cruiser or a destroyer lurking a few miles away?
The Chinese better watch themselves..the Obozo administration might write a terse letter!
Hmmmmm. Must be one of those Soviet steam-powered bombers.
What’s that a catamaran?
The mission of Impeccable is to directly support the Navy by using both passive and active low frequency sonar arrays to detect and track undersea threats.
What ever it is, it looks new...
USNS Impeccable is one of the five Ocean Surveillance Ships that are part of the 25 ships in Military Sealift Command's Special Mission Ships Program.

If Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao wants his set of 25 classic American Films on DVD he will stop this nonsense immediately.
It is almost impossible for me to type this reply while I am laughing so hard at your #40 post!!!!!
Note the MSTS connection.
Even metaphors are not normal under Obama...I can’t help it!
Don’t worry, very few people know what a metaphor is anymore anyway...
