Tancredo: Jindal politically dead; Grover Norquist should be jailed
Colorado Independent ^ | 2/28/09 | John Tomasic

At CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, which is being held in D.C. this week, former Rep. Tom Tancredo joined the fireworks brigade by brushing off party leader Rush Limbaugh and blasting GOP leading light Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Later, at a meeting of the Young Americans for Western Civilization, Tancredo told The Washington Independent’s David Weigel that “Gang of Five” neocon and anti-tax champion Grover Norquist should be jailed for advancing the cause of Muslim terrorism at the highest levels of U.S. government.

Think Progress has the super close-up video of firebrand Tancredo on Jindal:

This circular firing squad is at least entertaining.

DEFINITELY not a Norquist fan.

But perhaps Tom T. could explain his own support for the most liberal Governor in the history of the republic in the last election.

When it comes to food, you “are what you eat.”

In politics, you are whom you support.

Personnel IS policy.

Norquist was in bed with Abramoff and DeLay.

All three of them should be forced to work in the sweatshops in the Marianas that they lobbied for.

The sweatshops run by a ChiCom scumbag who whored out the prettier workers at night for even greater profits.

Norquist and DeLay might make some good bucks for the ChiCom bastard if they could get Barney Frank and his ilk to go on junkets to the Marianas.

Tancredo may be over the top but he is on to something. I think what troubles me is that even with our “rising stars” I don’t see the strength of voice that we saw in Goldwater or Reagan. What I see too often are deer in headlights who are often do ready to equivocate their views to appeal to the masses. I watch video of Reagan, of Milton Friedman and these men were great men and leaders speaking their minds and willing to defend and promote their beliefs and ideals because they strongly believed they were right. Where are our leaders who do not appear small and who don’t not scurry for cover in the face of hard questions?

I’m tired of voting for Democrat light. I voted for G.W. Bush but where he was strong on the war he was all too ready to cede ground to socialist policy and the economy.
We did get two of the strongest truly conservative Supreme Court justices since Clarence Thomas but now we are faced with the very good possibility that our chances at pulling the court back from the brink of endless leftist advantage will be lost with the retirement of Justice Kennedy.

The GOP needs to get a message and back to its roots. The Democrats are out there every day pounding on Republicans for things they do and things that don’t do while Republicans retreat at the drop of a hat from public confrontation. Too many of our candidates are all too ready to cede the line on environmental activism, on spending, on the role of government. Even when we get someone like John McCain who has been in the past strong on holding the line on earmarks, he when given the opportunity failed to lead and went along with much more conservative counterparts like my own Eric Cantor to vote for the first of many “bailouts”. That was the tragedy. The Democrats have gotten elected because of their boldness not substance, they get elected on the backs of boldfaced lies not courage, they appeal to our faithlessness concerning God and the capabilities of our fellow man. We who are right should be only so bold to make our case. Rush Limbaugh did it and he is only a radio talk show host and he and those on radio have probably swayed more to the cause of conservatism
than anyone since Reagan. All the while we have people coming out even who agree saying he did not speak carefully enough.

Well people. Those who speak carefully don’t win a thing or if they do they end up paralyzed. Why don’t we try speaking truthfully and letting the cards land where they may. Speak to the people and to America’s greatness and our unique history don’t speak to Americans as if they are poor smucks who can’t wipe their own asses. Call people to greatness and some will run away and snicker and gnash their teeth but those who will follow will lift you up.

Why did you leave out the part about how he used to vouch for and bring radical, anti-American Islamists to the White House, to stand with President Bush as he urged the public to accept that Islam is a religion of peace and the people standing with him are decent people who don't support jihads against us?

Amen! Talk about inability to delay gratification!

I liken it to going to a new buffet for a meal. A liberal will go along, take some of this, some of that, turn up his nose at one or two thing, find something he really likes and fill an extra plate with it. A conservative, OTOH, will go along until he comes to the first thing he doesn’t like, or doesn’t think should be on the buffet, and it’s out the door and down the road, complaining all along how hard it is to find good food these days.

Until we learn to take what’s good for us and leave what’s bad for us we’re in for hard times politically.

Thanks, EEE. I was beginning to wonder if I’d stumbled into a lefty site or something.

Tancredo is one of the few pols (ok, ex-pol) with any cojones when it comes to standing up for our culture and against illegal immigration. I’m at a loss why a site where Ann Couter and Michelle Malkin are (quite rightly) lauded should start firing on Tancredo.

Wow.

Tancredo was not re-elected because he chose not to run. He is very popular here, and would have won by a landslide. Probably for as often as he wanted to run.

This report is from “The Independant”, hardly a reliable source. In fact, since it is decidedly left wing, anything it reports about our side should be viewed as a lie first, and with great suspicion

If you’re referring to Jindal’s speech, the flop was in the staging, the lighting, background, sound system, et cetera, and only minimally in his words and delivery. Jindal is quite impressive in unscripted give-and -take.
